Reincarnated With the World Domination System-Chapter 16: Evolution
Chapter 16 - Evolution
It had been a week since Rael decided to level up his preparations.
He had created many parts for his first Steelborn and was close to bringing it to life.
At the same time, he earned a lot of experience points by fighting various projections in his virtual reality.
Although he spent his own experience points to summon them, his daily tasks and quests let him gain double or even triple what he spent.
In the junkyard, Rael also worked with Ali to discourage other orphans from joining the military.
Their plan was simple: show the video to everyone, one by one.
This worked for Ali, and Dominica confirmed that it was indeed the best choice to stall time.
Even orphans who wanted to join the military started having second thoughts.
Now, it was afternoon.
As usual, Rael "slept" at the feet of broken machines while his gauntlet kept manufacturing essential parts of his Steelborn.
Meanwhile, in his virtual reality room, Rael prepared for a real test.
[Daily Quest: Show the fruits of your training by defeating a retinue.][Reward: 5000 EXP.][Would you like to summon a retinue? Cost: 1000 EXP.]
"Yeah."
Clenching his hands, Rael accepted the quest.
A moment later, far in front of him, ten figures coalesced from thin air.
Nine of them wielded swords and wore flimsy white armor with gaps Rael could easily spot.
In their midst stood a black knight, leading them with a perfect set of black steel armor and a lean sword sheathed in red.
His presence was ten times that of his entire unit combined.
He locked eyes on Rael without hesitation.
Damn, he really looks like the final boss of my training. I feel heavier just meeting his gaze. But I've fought knights before, and I'm stronger now.
Rael activated The Maker's POV, which soaked up every sight and turned it into muscle memory.
He planned to defeat the soldiers first, but the black knight unexpectedly vanished from his spot.
A giant shadow loomed behind Rael.
He spun around and raised his gauntlet just in time to block the knight's blade.
That was too close!
Rael tried to grip his foe's weapon but found himself outmatched.
The black knight pulled his sword free and lifted it high, then swung down with a diagonal slash.
His soldiers encircled Rael, stifling his movements.
A flurry of slashes and thrusts rained down, and Rael did his best to parry.

Some hits got through, but Rael never let the same blow land twice.
His blood boiled as he clashed with the black knight, gathering more data with each movement.
When the knight stepped back, it looked like an opening for Rael to counter.
Rael almost fell for it, but he noticed soldiers on his right closing in to trap him.
I saw through you.
Rael shot his hand forward, using his gauntlet's pulling ability on the closest soldier's armor.
The enemy lost control and flew straight at Rael, who balled his fist and punched through the armor, hitting the soldier's stomach.
Rael also tugged on the iron in the man's blood, inflicting massive internal damage.
Blood spurted from the soldier's mouth, and he collapsed, but Rael had no time to celebrate.
Other soldiers lunged in, so Rael leaped over the fallen body and moved into a wider space.
As more attacks converged on him, Rael slid past them, his eyes fully open.
Once the last soldier made a move, Rael focused on him, yanking the man's helmet down.
Then he poured all his strength into a second punch, crashing into the soldier's chin.
Bones cracked, his eyes rolled back, and his helmet shattered, revealing his unconscious face.
This small victory was a milestone for Rael.
[Your Gauntlet Of The Maker has evolved to rank E and gained a new ability.]
Rael unclenched his fist and raised his hand to his chest, purple streaks arcing between his fingers and drawing wary looks from his enemies.
He grinned at the sight.
Not only had he grown stronger and gained a new ability, but this was also something even Milford, The God Of Machima, didn't possess.
Rael had already branched off from the path of the god he admired and was forging his own.
Come at me.
