Reincarnated in a Eroge Game With a SSS-Rank Taming System-Chapter 9: Step - Preparations For the Banquet
Chapter 9: Step 9 - Preparations For the Banquet
I was bedridden for one more day. Unfortunately, Morgana wasn't able to take care of me again since she was hosting a banquet where noble families from around the world would be coming to visit.
The person who took care of me instead was... Sariah.
Let's just say that the tender moments hadn't existed with her.
The door to the infirmary swung open, revealing her as she immediately frowned. "Are you still not able to stand on your own two feet? I didn't even hit you that hard."
I shook my head with a sigh. "I wonder why that is, huh?"
Sariah rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Anyway, for now, the training will be placed on pause until Lady Vera organizes your Awakening Ceremony. I'm not too sure why she's using so many of her connections for a useless servant like you, but it seems like she really cares about you."
Sariah looked salty that Morgana preferred me over her, and that's why it was so fun to tease her about it.
"Are you sure that's the reason we're stopping the training, or are you scared that I'll end up replacing you?"
Sariah just scoffed as she turned around and left the infirmary.
"I know you're all healed up. Go and see your master. She needs your help organizing this banquet."
I frowned. 'How did she know?'
It was in small instances like this that the gap between them was shown even more than with the sword. The fact she could tell about the state of someone with a glance was not a gift many had, and it truly impressed me, someone who had lived on Earth before coming to this world of magic.
Nevertheless, I made my way out of the infirmary and quickly found Lady Vera, who looked absolutely overworked, unable to take the slightest moment of rest.
"Ah, Zale! You're finally here!" she said with a bright smile. "I need your help. I need you to send the invitations to the noble families. Can you take care of that?"
She was nervous, her voice slightly shaking and even breaking as she moved around.
I carefully got closer to her and placed my hand on her back, slowly caressing it. "Calm down. Everything will be just fine."
It seemed to reassure her as she blushed slightly and quickly nodded, her heartbeat becoming normal once again.
I then went and sent out all of the invitations for the banquet, which would take place in three days. It was definitely last minute, which was strange considering the nature of Morgana, who was organized and methodical. It made me think about the reason why she organized this banquet in the first place.
I only got to hear the answer to that question later that night as we were both having some tea in her private garden, all alone, sitting next to one another on a bench.
"The King himself asked me to prepare a banquet to congratulate his daughter. She is the first individual to have been accepted next year into the Royal Academy..." She rolled her eyes. "Even if, between us, the whole thing is rigged. It's tradition for a noble family to organize a banquet for it, and this year I was the one chosen."
My eyes widened all of a sudden as a realization hit me.
"Does that mean that the Royal Family will be coming here? To this very estate?"
Morgana lightly giggled as she nodded. "Yes, that's exactly what it means. They'll be the star of the show."
That meant that I would be interacting with one of the main heroines of this story one year before she would even enter the Royal Academy. This was an opportunity that I could not miss for the end of the world. I would have to gain points and, at the very least, earn one Affection Heart by the end of the banquet.
There was only one problem. I wouldn't be actively taking part in the banquet; I would only be a waiter, serving drinks for everyone.
An idea hit me as I slightly glanced toward Morgana.
"And... for this banquet, do you have someone accompanying you, or are you alone?"
Morgana slightly frowned, unsure why I was asking such a thing. "No one, why?"
"Well, I was thinking. Maybe I could be your escort for the banquet. I know the basic etiquette; wouldn't it be perfect?"
"But what would I tell others? That you're my lover?! They'll all think that I'm crazy."
I smirked. "I was thinking friends, but if you want to call me your lover, I won't deny it."
I teased her, and once again, it seemed to have a good effect on her as she laughed while being completely ashamed of herself.
[You have obtained a new Quest.]
[Quest Name - Banquet Attendance.]
[Quest Description: Attend the banquet as Morgana's plus one and try to make one useful connection during it.]
[Quest Rewards: +1 Affection Heart, Unknown Skill]
With the system even sending me down this path, I knew that I was pushing in the right direction as Morgana was already on the verge of accepting.
"Come on. It will be fun. Just the two of us. What do you say?"
[Intimate Presence I has begun to take effect from the closeness and duration of this moment.]
[Morgana's Obedience has increased: 63 -> 65.]
The perk from the Taming Tree came in at just the right time as her hesitation suddenly disappeared.
"Alright, fine. You can be my 'friend' for the evening. Just make sure not to embarrass me."
I smiled and gave her a tight hug, surprising her as her cheeks reddened.
"Thank you!"
The reason I was so excited was that I would finally be able to obtain that fourth Affection Heart, which meant that I would finally be able to test the skill the Goddess had left me before sending me to this place.
I would be able to "tame" Morgana.
I couldn't wait to see what that really meant.
