Reincarnated as the Baron's son: My Infinite Card Upgrade System-Chapter 116: The god of Trinity
"Henry, you good, man? You seem out of it."
The young soldier called out, his hand resting on Henry’s chest.
Henry, sleeping on the ground under a tree, slowly opened his eyes to see the young man before him.
He was someone he recognized.
A close friend.
"James?" Those words slipped out of his lips.
James had long brown hair and beautiful red eyes; there was no way Henry could mistake him for someone else.
"Haha, you look like you’ve seen a ghost. You good, man?" James leaned back and sat down on the soft grass.
In that moment, Henry couldn’t help but question what was happening.
Images flooded his mind, images of himself in another world.
A world where he never belonged and yet... He was accepted with open arms.
A world where he had everything he wanted.
’Did I die?’ he finally asked himself the telling question.
He already knew that he had defeated the Devourer God, and that humanity should be back to being saved, if Ava did as he instructed, which he knew without a doubt that she had.
Even more, he knew he hadn’t survived it. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
So could that mean he was somewhere in the afterlife? Or had he been sent back to his former world?
Placing his hand on his head, Alaric looked toward the far lands, and there was no mistaking it; he was back at his military headquarters. He even had their uniform on.
"Yo, man, you good? You seem out of it. Don’t tell me you’re sick again." James tilted his head to the side.
Alaric suddenly shifted his attention from the towering building to his long-missed friend in front of him.
"So that’s how it is..."
"That’s how what is?"
"Your disguise is quite good. But not good enough. How did you manage to escape death? I’m curious, Devourer God."
A moment of silence drew in, as both locked gazes with one another.
Not even a few seconds later, James’ eyes took on a dark glow, dark vein-like streaks spreading from his eye socket to other parts of his face.
Alaric was right; it was the Devourer God.
"Annoying as you’ve always been," said the god, voice laced with darkness.
"What can I say? It’s a gift." Alaric took his time to stand to his feet, hand scratching the back of his head while he looked down at the god carrying the face of his friend.
’Did he look through my memories?’ Alaric couldn’t help but ask.
At least until another question popped up in his head.
"I don’t know where I am or how I got here, but it doesn’t matter. The fact that I have you here is good enough. A question: why do you despise me?"
The Devourer God flinched, as if the question was meant to be some kind of insult to him.
"For all I know, I’ve never met you before. In both my past and present life. The Creator tells me you want me to suffer; what exactly would I be suffering for?"
"Your ignorance amuses me. It may not look it, but I’m fighting the urge to rip your head from your body right now."
"I know. But the fact that you haven’t means you can’t. Either that, or you’re afraid of something."
The god clicked his tongue.
"You want to know why I hate and loathe you? I shall tell you, a tale of how you took everything I had just by being born. You who were chosen by the world, and I who was discarded from it."
...
Before the world came to be, there was darkness and light, two enemies that brought the world into balance.
And before they came into existence, there were gods, beings born from pure concept and definition.
Among these gods was a god who was considered to be the youngest of all the other gods.
He was the God of Trinity.
A god who ruled over three different concepts: Dreams, Despair, and Desire.
To the other gods, he was an error, something that should not exist. A god having more than one concept was unheard of.
While the other gods shunned him, only a few gods saw his potential as the ruler of all gods.
One of them was the God of Creation, Satella.
Satella was the strongest of all the other gods, being the only one who had created the godly plane where the other gods lived and also other entities that served them.
Her power was beyond imagination, so much so that most people feared to even make a conversation with her.
Though she wasn’t bothered; in fact, she never cared for the other gods. All she cared about was the God of Trinity, the boy who was so innocent yet fearsome.
Their stories quickly spread through the godly plane, stories of Satella being in love with an anomaly.
People spoke, some saying she was controlling the boy, others saying she was probably trying to use him as a catalyst for her next creation.
Everyone had their own version of the story.
But there was one person who did not seem to like it in the slightest.
He was Arnoch, the God of Devouring, also known to be Satella’s fiancé.
Before his very eyes, the woman he was supposed to marry was being taken from him by a god who was hundreds of years younger than him.
Every time he would try to set things straight, Satella would give him a remark, threatening to break off the marriage.
Arnoch came to hate the God of Trinity, often finding ways to harm him or get him banished from the godly plane. If he couldn’t have this woman to himself, then he wasn’t willing to give her to anyone, especially a self-entitled kid.
It all seemed like a good plan, until he was caught red-handed sneaking poison into the God of Trinity’s food.
Satella was so angry that she nearly destroyed the godly plane with her wrath.
In order to calm her down, the other gods decided on a single action.
To banish Arnoch from the realm of the gods.
