Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 301: Super Mega Herd
Chapter 301: Chapter 301: Super Mega Herd
Condra’s eyes glimmered with a light of realization as he finally understood what the zebras were trying to do.
It was an idea so stupid that it could actually work. After some thinking, Condra calmed down as he felt this was normal, they were just sacrificing some members to save the whole herd.
But each zebra currently crossing the river didn’t want to believe that it could be them, they could be the one that gets eaten alive, they could be the one that gets left behind.
By now, a good number of the weaklings among the zebras had been left behind before they had gotten to the river but some of them were not far behind and were still catching up.
One after the other, zebras jumped into the river, splashing water as they flowed against the soft current to get to the other side.
Even though they knew that this river was infested with crocodiles, they still continued jumping in. Perhaps, some zebras would be caught but they never believed it would be ’them’.
Condra looked behind him to see that the horde of beasts was still approaching, although they had slowed down, they were still approaching fast.
Condra sensed something and looked ahead to see a large flaming owl flying in his direction.
This owl has a flabbergasted expression on his face as though he had just witnessed the most amazing thing ever in the world.
"Condra!" The owl shouted telepathically, unable to hide the excitement within his voice.
He looked down to see the zebras crossing the river below them. Crocodiles were constantly surfacing from the water to ambush the defenseless zebras. And most of these zebras that were caught in the powerful jaws of the crocodiles were being drowned or torn to pieces.
But looking at what was happening now, the owl leader felt that it was nothing compared to what he had seen on the other side of the river.
The owl leader refocused his black and red eyes on Condra, still having that light of excitement within them.
"What is it?" Condra asked, eager to know what got his fellow casteeader so excited.
"Mega herd! Mighty mega herd! Zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, antelope, and so on, all in one place!..." The owl began. He spoke in that ancient accent of his that was unique to the owls, sounding like an immortal that had seen eons pass by.
"I’m heading back to report to the king, let’s go," Condra said, the owl leader should be reporting his findings to the king first before anyone. It was his blunder to ask him in the first place.
"Yes, let’s go," The owl leader said. So the two birds flapped their large wings and flew away, leaving the carnage beneath them for the remaining eagle squads to observe.
Sherone had already crossed the river halfway when he turned his head around to look behind him. To his dismay, two of his ten consorts were missing. The rest were rushing over to him with all their might, wishing that they could move faster.
The zebras continued crossing and the crocodiles continued emerging. At some point, some really powerful crocodiles had begun to surface from the depths of the river.
Some of these crocodiles had dark green scales, and some had deep blue scales. Some were black with rows of silvery metal teeth, and some were bright red and constantly caused the water around them to boil.
One crocodile in particular was dark red and incredibly big, easily double the size of a regular crocodile. All the blood that was being spilled in the water mysteriously flowed toward this dark red crocodile and coagulated around his scales. His beady black eyes rested about the water, observing Sherone and his herd as they passed through.
The big red crocodile moved, causing a lot of ripples to suddenly spread out from his position. His webbed feet kicked against the water and his long red tail moved from left to right, propelling him toward the nearest zebra, one of the powerful males.
From above, it looked like a mass of blood was moving across the surface of the river, very eerie to the eyes.

Condra and the owl leader reached Kael and hovered close to the ground, not landing at all.
They had both learned from the previous experience and didn’t want to go through it again.
"What did you find?" Kael asked with a deep commanding voice.
"You’re Majesty," Condra was the first to speak, "The river is infested with crocodiles. I believe they wish to cross the river and use the crocodiles to block us from getting to them."
"I thought so," Kael said, he had already guessed what the herd leader was trying to do and he now confirmed it with Condra’s report.
"What’s the casualty rate? Are the crocodiles heavily attacking them?" Kael asked.
Condra nodded as he hovered gently from Kael’s upper right, "The crocodiles have engaged the zebra herd.
Although, the zebra herd isn’t fighting back at all. From what I see, if they actually banded together and fought back, they would have a better chance of crossing the river with fewer casualties.
Instead, they all seem to be following their leader, whichever direction he goes, they follow," Condra spoke from his heart, although most of what he said was not needed.
"They are herbivores that grew with the herd mentality, that’s pretty normal for them to run instead of fighting back.
But, what are they going to find on the other side? Is it worth it if so many of them die while crossing the river?" Kael asked the final question to himself.
He then turned to his left to address the fiery owl, "What did you find?"
The owl was enthusiastic as he spoke, "Your Majesty, the land on the other side of the river is currently occupied by a mega herd."
"Mega herd?" Kael asked, astounded.
"Yes Your Majesty, a mega herd. Buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, antelopes, giraffes, and so on. All of them gathered in one place!" The owl said.
"How many?" Kael asked.
"I couldn’t count them, Your Majesty, as far as my eyes could see, their numbers stretched into the horizon, I don’t know a word to describe such numerical value." The owl said.
Condra and Priya who were hearing the conversation also looked over with interested gazes. Grass-eaters? As far as the eye could see?
Kael was shocked by the description. That wasn’t a mega herd, that was a super mega herd. From his description, he would assume that the owl has seen close to a million creatures within that herd alone.
It all made sense to Kael now, the zebra herd’s motives for crossing the river. This was all part of their leader’s ploy. It was a plan with double outcomes.
The zebra herd was to cross the river which was infested with crocodiles. This action would normally cost the lives of some zebras but that was just the sacrifices they had to make.
The leader would make it across the river if he survived, then he would lead his herd to join this super mega herd which he already knew was on the other side of the river.
In the mind of the leader, if Kael wasn’t stopped by the river filled with crocodiles, then he surely wouldn’t be able to handle the super mega herd.
This super mega herd wasn’t just a loose gathering of different grass-eaters, it was a very dangerous coalition that very much had the ability to fight back. It was a machine that used its vast numbers to give each herd member a false confidence that allowed them to fight against their predators.
Many of the battles Sherone had won had been on the premises of a super mega herd. Running to this herd would give Sherone the necessary confidence needed to turn around and fight back.
If Stella was here, she would realize that this was what she should have done instead of allying with the likes of the Cheetah brothers.
She should have found other creatures like her who sought to escape the clutches of their predators and work together. Instead, she had been somewhat fascist and focused too much on her rabbits only.
Even kings needed their allies to be like-minded and share a common interest.
Knowing what the zebra herd leader was planning, Kael suddenly felt anxious. His army was in no way near enough to fight head-on against a super mega herd. Who knew how many tier 4 equivalents were within their ranks?
He had to do something, he definitely wanted to annex the whole super mega herd. It was like a treasure trove presented right before him. But this treasure would fight back and prevent him from taking it for himself.
"Anything else?" Kael asked the owl.
The owl nodded, remembering something that he had seen, "I saw some vultures, some strange vultures," He said. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
As soon as Kael heard this, his head started racing and the fortune power within him activated on its own.
Kael could sense it, something was up with the vultures.
