Reincarnated As A Dragon With Cheats-Chapter 4: Master the Basics
Chapter 4: Master the Basics
A part of the egg shell that had cracked open now rested on Pebbles’s head. It was akin to a strange-looking hat.
As for the rest of the shell, they were shattered, broken into sharp pieces that reflected faint crimson light.
Pebbles’ nose stung a bit. The more he inhaled, the worse it felt.
The air smelled pungent and rotting, but he wasn’t so sure about the source.
He slowly raised his large head, just a little, and the shell slid back. If at first it was covering half his face, now it covered only half his forehead.
Thud.
Creak.
The shell piece slipped off and shattered partially.
It was now a smaller hat!
Ding!
[Title: The Child of Endings]
[Grade: ???]
[Rank: Dungeon-Bound (Irregular)]
[Status: passive]
[Passive Effects:
1. Rapid Healing Lv.1: The HP of the host will be regenerated at the rate of 3/min.
2. You are loved Lv.1: You are a child with special needs.]
"..."
Pebbles’s eyes twitched. ’The rapid healing part was fine, but what in the hell did the second part mean?’ was probably what he was thinking.
He sighed.
That’s all he could do for now
Annoyed, Pebbles grabbed the remaining shell fragment from his head and tossed it aside.
Only then did he look forward.
Eyes.
Hundreds of red eyes stared at him from within the darkness.
His vision was so blurry, he was perhaps seeing more than normal. But they were many.
These lights seemed different from the orbs.
They didn’t flicker, but simply disappeared and reappeared. That’s why Pebbles had concluded them to be eyes.
They are eye-shaped.
"..."
Their numbers were decreasing.
One would naturally be intrigued and would want to approach, but Pebbles knew better.
He first turned his head left and then right. Once up and then down, only to question, "Where’s my dragon papa and mama?"
He blinked a few times and then turned his head away.
He recalled the options he was given.
[Dragon (100 Merit Points)]
I see why the merit points were low. I’m an orphan!
Ding!
[Affirmative.]
You!? I can communicate with you... with my thoughts?
[Affirmative.]
That was a revelation.
Pebbles smirked at this. A weird smirk. More eyes disappeared.
Ding!
[You are an orphan hatchling who prematurely hatched into Eldrich. You are an ant in this world. Even ants here have more power and authority. Correcting, you aren’t ant. You are an insult to ants.]
Pebbles’ eyes twitched.
"Aren’t you a bit too heartless and rude?"
[The system has detected that the host cannot survive if he remains this pathetic.]
Yeah? Tell me something new.
Ding!
[The system has decided to provide a training program and growth module for the host. You will be issued various missions of varying difficulty. Some are mandatory to complete, while others can be skipped or postponed. Notice: You will get various rewards, so it would be beneficial if the host completes all the missions.]
Interesting. What are the missions? Show them.
Ding!
[Displaying...]
[Mission 1]
[Difficulty: F]
[Category: Mandatory]
[Description: Life is beautiful as it is. The world is ugly. One must know how to react if the ugliness becomes a part of the beautiful life. This mission consists of three tasks.]
[Task 1: Use all your skills at least once.] [Reward: +5 stat points]
[Task 2: Eat.] [Reward: Dexterity of your teeth increases; Stomach will be strengthened.]
[Task 3: Use all the stat points.] [Reward: Item x1]
[Bonus Reward: Unlock Evolution pathway.]
[Note: Bonus reward can only be claimed if all the tasks are completed within the time limit.]
[Time: 00:30:00 (30 minutes)]
And with that, the timer started.
30 minutes was a lot for such puny tasks. Pebbles nodded his head in understanding, and then began.
First... he stood up.
He managed to stand, but his legs became wobbly and the world spun.
His legs lagged behind his thoughts, and he nearly collapsed back onto the ground.
He did.
Thud.
He was back on the ground, thanks to his excessively swinging tail.
Damn it.
This was expected as he was born premature but he still found it very frustrating and annoying.
The red crystals embedded in the walls, along with pale white ones near the ground, emitted a faint glow.
His eyesight was truly poor, and in the dim light all he could see was an endless sea of jagged rocks, between which there were faint silhouettes.
He didn’t care about them for now.
He stood up again. This time, he balanced himself just a bit...
His tail was pulling him back so he leaned a bit forward. He almost fell again... almost.
"Ahem," he then looked at his skills.
[Run Lv.1]
[Type: Active
Speed Increase: +20%
Duration: 5s
Stamina Consumption: Severe
Cooldown: 20s
Status: UNREFINED
Warning: Loss of balance likely.]
He took a look at the skill and decided to use it.
He looked ahead and began his steps...
"Huff. Huff."
Three steps he had taken, only three, and he was already panting.
He had also fallen twice.
What the... fuck...?
[...]
[The host has to think about using the skill. Only then the skill will activate.]
"Oh!"
And he thought.
Pebbles couldn’t keep his eyes open. His speed had increased! Just a little...
He was able to take four steps this time before panting.
"Huff Huff. I’m done... done with this skill... next..."
Run had only made him fast, just a little, and nothing else. He dismissed it thinking it would come in handy, but not just yet.
The next skill was tail smash.
My tail...
He had yet to see how his tail looked. He foolishly, like a child, tried to look at his tail. But the more he turned back, the farther his tail would drift.
First, he tried from left, but it went right. Then he tried right... it went left.
"Ugh. Stupid tail."
He decided to do a backflip and catch his tail.
My tail might be stupid... not me, with both his hands folded, he puffed his chest.
Then he looked at the skill.
[Tail Smash Lv.1]
[Type: Active]
[Damage Output: 150% Physical]
[Area: Wide Arc]
[Stamina Cost: Moderate]
[Cooldown: 15s]
[Status: UNREFINED]
[Warning: No auto-aim available.]
Now came a bigger smirk.
He swung his body side to side and used his tail. Nothing happened.
He then looked at a close rock nearby and decided it to be the target for his practice.
He swung his tail on his own.
Bam!
"Ouch..."
First he hit the tail on the rock that caused an instant pain. Then he lost his balance and fell back to the ground, sitting back on his tail.
"FUCK!"
He stood back up instantly. A few drops of tears fell down.
"Huff..."
He stayed upright for few seconds, until the pain was no more. Only then did he use the skill...
"OUCH!"
It hurt even worse! More strength and power just made it excruciatingly worse.
Pebbles was now jumping left and right.
"Next skill. Next skill!"
[Copy Lv.1]
[Type: Special / Adaptive]
[Target Requirement: Visible]
[Copied Effect: 1 Minor Trait or Basic Ability will appear to be copied.]
[Efficiency: 50%]
[Duration: 10s]
[Cooldown: 1 day.]
[INSTABILITY DETECTED]
[Warning: Cognitive strain will be accumulated. Identity drift possible.]
Pebbles looked at the details carefully, very carefully.
He read the line carefully again, one particular line. A peculiar line.
"Appear to be copied? Or can I copy it?"
[Appear to copy.]
"..."
"Nice, nice, good good," Pebbles clapped sarcastically. He gave up using this skill at the moment.
What was he going to copy? Himself?
"And? What’s next skill?"
[Pretender Lv.1]
[Type: Active / Deception]
[Effect: Presence Suppression + Behavioral Mimicry]
[Target Class: Weaker and Stronger Creatures. (Greatly works on stronger creatures)]
[Duration: 30s]
[Cooldown: 45s]
"..."
Both these skills required a target against whom he could use the skill. Now then, where could he find the target?
His eyes sparkled as he turned around.
The glamorous amount of red eyes had decreased.
Now very few were left and on them, a certain things were labelled.
[Stone Spiders]
I guess, they will do it.
