Reincarnated As A Dragon With Cheats-Chapter 18: Graveyard Of Memories(1)
Chapter 18: Graveyard Of Memories(1)
"Nightstone."
"Yes, Master?"
"Would you mind telling me something?"
"I would not mind, Master."
"..."
"...why is the exit so tiny?"
Pebbles was halfway through the tunnel that served as both the entrance and exit of the first floor.
Unfortunately, he was no longer first floor sized.
His upper body had successfully made it through.
Everything below his belly had not.
"..."
Nightstone had never considered the problem.
Stone Spiders were small. The tunnel had always felt perfectly normal.
But now that Pebbles mentioned it...
It was, in fact, very small.
Behind her, Pebbles grunted.
"Ugh. Ugh. Ugh!"
He pushed forward or at least tried to, but nothing happened.
His tail bent awkwardly inside the tunnel.
He tried pulling back.
Now his belly scraped against the stone.
"Why is it tighter when I move!?"
He wiggled.
The tunnel wiggled.
Pebbles did not move.
"Bullshit. I call it bullshit! This is a prank!"
Nightstone pressed her mouth shut, trying to keep herself calm.
However, she couldn’t hide the slightest tremble of her body.
Inside the tunnel, Pebbles froze.
"Fatass? No. I am not a fatass."
He struggled again.
The rock scraped loudly.
"I am a majestic dragon!"
But then he heard something.
"He... he..."
The sound was small.
Very small.
But he heard it.
Pebbles slowly raised his head.
Nightstone stood on the second floor, one leg trying to cover her mouth, her eyes curved in amusement.
"Nightstone."
"You laughed."
"N-no master, I-"
"Do not lie."
"..." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"I did..."
Pebbles stared at her.
And she couldn’t control her body from trembling. She was definitely exhausting a tremendous amount of energy only to prevent herself from laughing.
Pebbles had only a little more effort to put. He was almost out of the tunnel so thus time, he focused and pushed himself gently.
"..."
It took 5 minutes and an eternity of effort but he made it out!
Pebbles was panting a bit so he took deep breaths to calm himself down.
Only then did he realize... the smell was pungent. It was way worse than that of the cave of the first floor.
Pebbles raised his gaze and scanned left and right.
The second floor felt unique in a way.
[Second Floor]
Beyond the total displayed by the screen, Pebbles noticed the pale light that was being emitted by the mist.
Furthermore, the chilling cold sent shivers down his spine.
He tried to look as far as possible, but at most, ten metres was visible. He could see only two.
At least, it was brighter than the first floor!
Pebbles took a few more steps further when Nightstone raised her voice, "Master!"
Pebbles paused.
Earlier he had made sure to let Nightstone know that she had to warn him about anything and everything that could harm him!
Of course, she agreed to it and he too agreed to immediately stop when she called out to him.
"What’s wrong Nightstone?"
She sped and approached Pebbles.
"Master, we have to be careful of the monsters of this floor."
Pebbles thought that she was stating the obvious.
They had to be careful of monsters of every floor!
But maybe she was meaning something else.
"What about them?"
"Master, the higher we go, the stronger the monsters become. Right now, the monsters here could be easily level 10 or above... so we have to be careful."
"Yeah..."
"Yeah, ya guys got to be careful ya know?"
"True." Pebbles nodded along.
"Ya know what? How about ya be extra careful?"
"Right." Pebbles nodded his head again.
"Ya know what what? How about ya be extra extra careful?"
"..." Now that got into Pebbles.
She simply turned towards the source of voice and raised his own voice, "Fuck, you wanna say something different!?"
But Nightstone was behind her.
"Master..."
Pebbles turned his gaze back once realizing it wasn’t her who spoke and then turned his gaze to the front.
The mist that had covered the area started tk diminish, but only a bit.
But then it revealed a pile of stones arranged in rows. Tombstones.
And there was a weird signboard made out of wood where someone had scribbled something in language unknown.
[Graveyard]
The system displayed.
"Huh?"
Pebbles realized that the stones arranged neatly in rows were tombstones.
Additionally, there were wet graves all around.
There was no one nearby, except another grave. So this made Pebbles think...
Whom did I just speak with?
He gulped a large chunk of dry saliva and almost tears left his eyes.
Ghost stories. Well, many love it but at the same time, many can’t sleep due to it.
Pebbles fell into the later category.
Once when his friend told him a few ghost stories, he couldn’t stop trembling for three whole hours!!!
And his friend had mistaken it for an earthquake.
"..."
"N-nightstone, whom did I speak with just now?"
Nightstone didn’t answer.
In fact, she had this weird look on her face.
"What speak Master? You spoke with someone?"
"Huh?"
"Did you not hear a voice just now?"
"No...", she tilted her head to the left just a bit and replied with innocence.
Pebbles gulped even harder.
This throat had already dried up so he simply swallowed a large chunk of dry saliva again qnd again.
He then turned ahead again and asked...
"Hello, is anyone there...?"
"..."
No reply came.
"Hello?"
"..."
No reply. But just for self satisfaction, Pebbles decided to try once more.
"Hello. Konichiwa. Ni hao. Namaste."
"..."
And only after no further reply did he try to wipe off thr makeshift sweat in the form of droplets that had accumulated on his forehead due to mist.
"Haha," While he did laugh a bit, internally, he had concluded that due to tiredness, he had probably hallucinated.
But just as he had begun to relax, there came voice. This time it wasn’t one nor two... but a bunch of them!
"Hello!"
"Hello!"
"Hewoooooo."
"Wohoooo!!!"
"Hi brother!!!"
"Big daddy! Hellow!"
"Hello son."
"Welcome boy."
"Hi."
"Koniwa!"
"Ni hao!"
"Haaalllooooo"
It was a mixture of male, and female voices. It felt as if the voice belonged to different ages... from children to adult.
But Pebbles had forgotten to take a note of it...
He was almost paralyzed.
Nightstone opened her mouth wide, "Hehehehe, did that scare you Master? Hehehehe!"
She was almost forming a fist out of her legs and striking a job well done pose, but Pebbles had almost lost it.
Like a statue off balance, he fell to the ground.
Yep. Pebbles was now unconscious.
