Regressor Instruction Manual-Chapter 1115: Wrongful Encounter (2)
“Y-You! Liars!” Jung Ha-Yan shouted.
“Ah… uh…”
“You’re bad people!!! Y-Y-You jerks! Y-You’ll be punished for this! You’ll be punished!” Jung Ha-Yan yelled.
I couldn’t think clearly, and the only thing that I had in mind was to get away from this place. Jung Ha-Yan grabbed my clothes so strongly that it felt like I was being dragged away. I tried to move, but I was so scared that my body wouldn’t respond to me.
‘Uh? Uh?’
Was it just me? The sky suddenly darkened. I was sure it was midday, but it felt like it suddenly turned into night. A dark shadow engulfed the entire city all of a sudden.
Was I seeing things because I was overwhelmed by that petite woman's screams?
However, I knew I wasn’t mistaken because I heard loud noises around me. The city was consumed by panic, and fear of the unknown forced my frozen body to move.
“What… is that?”
“R-Run…”
“Run! Damn it! What the hell is that?!”
“Kyaaaaaaaah!”
“Run! Get out of here! Get out!”
“Damn it… damn it… W-What…”
“Help me! Help me!!!”
“AAAH!”
The city was filled with screams as people scattered in different directions.
People ran somewhere with fear-stricken faces.
Although everyone had different destinations, the sight of them desperately trying to get out of the square was beyond strange.
The square immediately became chaotic. The goods of the vendors were thrown to the ground, people fell to the ground while running, parents ran frantically away with their children in their arms, and some threw away the items in their hands just to run faster.
In just a few minutes, the peaceful city was plunged into chaos. Many people cast dumbfounded and despairing looks at the sky.
“How… is this… Are the bastards from the Kirian Kingdom behind this?”
“...”
“Has a war… broken out or something? Haa… damn it… h-how come this type of spell is…”
Despair was written all over their faces, and an overwhelming sense of helplessness engulfed them, knowing that nothing would change no matter how much they struggled.
I did the same and looked up at the sky…
“U-Unni…” Chae-Ryeong mumbled.
A giant meteor emerged from the gray clouds.
“Ah…”
‘Am I… dreaming right now?’
A meteor had suddenly manifested in the sky…
‘Am I… dreaming right now?’
Just a moment ago, we were going back to the guild house, so why was a meteor suddenly falling down on us?
“It’s a lie!!!” Jung Ha-Yan screamed.
When I looked at her again, I noticed her glaring at me with bloodshot eyes and blood rolling down from her nose.
‘It’s her.’
“W-Who are you guys?! Who are you!!!!! Eek! Eeeek!” Jung Ha-Yan yelled.
‘It’s her doing.’
“Who the hell are you?!” Jung Ha-Yan screamed. I had no idea how she did something like this, as she had never cast a spell. I couldn't feel any fluctuations of mana, but there was an unexplainable phenomenon around her. Something thick and hazy, like a mirage, surrounded her.
Even the wind that was blowing as violently as a typhoon was useless against her.
Unlike our surroundings, which seemed like hell, neither mine nor Chae-Ryeong’s robes and collars were moving.
It was simply an assumption, but the woman before me could be the reason behind all this.
This situation was difficult to understand from a logical standpoint, but there was no other way to explain the phenomenon.
“It’s a lie… It’s all a lie!” Jung Ha-Yan yelled.
“Eek! Eeeek!”
“W-We’re not liars! Miss Witch!” Chae-Ryeong shouted with a pale face. It seemed that she had reached the same conclusion as me.
“D-D-Don’t make me laugh! Eek!” Jung Ha-Yan stuttered.
“It’s true! I’m not lying. I-I heard it as well, so… please…” Chae-Ryeong begged.
“Don’t lie to me!” she yelled.
“I heard it from a reliable source! P-People who are interested in the things happening at the academy all know this. Everyone knows this! It’s true. Please believe me. Please! I’m… sorry. Trust me, Miss Witch! So please spare me. Please…let me live! I-I can’t… die yet,” Chae-Ryeong begged.
“I-I don’t believe you! I don’t!" Jung Ha-Yan screamed.
“Please give us time to explain. We just need time… please! We’re not liars! Please!” I begged.
“...”
“Please…”
Jung Ha-Yan bit her lips with unwavering eyes.
“Please give us a chance! Just one chance…” I said.
“...”
“We can prove it! We can prove it to you!!!” Chae-Ryeong added.
“...”

“Give us a chance, Miss Witch!” she yelled.
Just then, Jung Ha-Yan's nose stopped bleeding, and the sky gradually brightened up again. The small town, which had transformed into a hellish place, suddenly became a quiet town. Those hiding beneath the vendors' stalls and covering their eyes and ears while waiting for their death looked up to the sky along with those who ran somewhere.
They looked dumbfounded. It was like an illusion spell was cast on the entire city as everyone examined themselves in disbelief.
“Heuk… you’re… lying… hiccup… heuk… heuk…” Jung Ha-Yan cried.
“...” “Hiccup… heuk… you’re lying,” she said.
One person was crying, though. Jung Ha-Yan was sobbing to the point that I questioned whether she was the same person we met just a few moments ago. Her small and frail shoulders were shaking, and she gathered her hands as if she were praying.
I couldn’t really see her face because she lowered her head, but she probably looked like an abandoned puppy.
“Unni… w-what happened just now…” Chae-Ryeong said.
“...”
“Unni…”
“Hold on, Chae-Ryeong. It’s crucial we don’t scare her,” I told her.
“...”
“...” “It’s… a lie… Heuk… o-o-oppa…” she cried.
“Did… something happen?” I asked.
“Heuuung…”
“Miss Ha-Yan?” I said.
“S-S-So… S-Sora…” she stuttered.
“...”
“I-I trusted Sora… so with o-oppa… B-But Sora… The three of us… spent time together often… S-She seemed like she took an interest in him at some point… C-Come to think of it, I-I’ve seen… Sora and oppa together often… t-they talked a lot… a-and they sometimes talked about things unknown to me.
"S-Sora was working as his secretary… I-I think she wanted to keep that job… now that I think about it. W-When Sora… stopped working, s-she looked really sad… so I thought it was strange…” Jung Ha-Yan explained.
“...”
“A-After… we got separated… hiccup… heuk… I was wondering why they didn’t contact me… I-I thought they were avoiding me… that’s what I thought… hiccup…heuk…” Jung Ha-Yan added.
I couldn’t figure out what she was trying to say. She couldn’t speak properly because she was crying, and I was also busy calming down my racing heart. One thing I was sure of was that she summoned that meteor just now.
The ends of her hair had turned white, which was proof that she was suffering from mana exhaustion.
“W-We slept on the bed together… a-and because of that, Sora… o-oppa… was really… really… heuk… hiccup…” Jung Ha-Yan added.
“U-Unni, let’s run too,” Chae-Ryeong whispered.
But…
‘To where?’
Where were we going to run? If that meteor fell from the sky, we weren't the only ones who were going to die. The city itself, no, this entire region would disappear. It was safe to say that running away was the worst possible option and…
‘Lee Ki-Young and Han Sora?’
And Jung Ha-Yan, who was standing before me…
Could this really be a coincidence? Was it really a coincidence that two geniuses and a mysterious mage were suddenly summoned here? I couldn’t help but think that there was something more going on here.
This coincidence was too unnatural to think of it as the ramblings of a heartbroken woman. I wasn’t sure what it was, but I couldn't stop thinking that something was happening behind the scenes.
[A Gentle Glow that Reassures the Forgotten agrees with you and nods.]
[A Gentle Glow that Reassures the Forgotten thinks that you shouldn’t leave that woman alone.]
‘I agree, Gentle Glow.’
First, I examined her slowly.
‘She won’t suddenly harm me.’
She wasn't in any state to attack or cause harm to anyone.
She was already weak. Her hair color was returning to its original color, so I deduced that she was already in the middle of recovering her mana.
However, the mana exhaustion wasn't the reason I was sure that she wouldn't just attack anyone. I couldn’t really explain it, but it felt like she was slowly crumbling away.
“I-I see,” I said.
I grabbed her shaking hands and patted her head.
“You must be heartbroken,” I said.
After gathering some courage, I hugged her, and she hugged me back.
For a moment, I felt pain as if my back was going to snap…
“The rumors may not be true,” I told her.
“Yeah…”
“I-I heard you’re engaged to that man named Lee Ki-Young,” I said.
“Yeah… I mean… yes… O-Oppa… the continent—Ah… ah! I’m not supposed to tell you that,” Jung Ha-Yan mumbled.
“What? What do you…”
“Ah… it’s nothing… it’s nothing…” Jung Ha-Yan replied.
“A-Anyway, it’s not too late to check with your own eyes, Miss Ha-Yan. I heard Miss Han Sora and Mr. Lee Ki-Young are important people to you… Do you really think those two people will betray you?” I questioned.
Jung Ha-Yan shook her head.
Chae-Ryeong, who said she wasn’t a liar, looked pale, but what was important to her right now wasn’t confirming whether the rumors were true or not.
“I-I’m sure it’s not true. Y-Yeah… I’m sure,” Jung Ha-Yan mumbled.
“Right? L-Let’s head to the guild house together. You can wash up and eat… and get some rest. How about we think about what comes after later? You might… not be able to think positively because you’re too exhausted right now. I’m sure I heard… you say that you were going to meet your oppa,” I suggested.
“I-I was…” Jung Ha-Yan answered.
‘Is she calm now?’
Actually, it was probably because she didn't want to be alone.
“I-If it’s true…” Jung Ha-Yan mumbled.
“How about we think about that when it actually happens?” I asked.
The way she pulled my sleeve made it seem like she was asking me for help.
“T-Take me with you,” Jung Ha-Yan said.
“What?”
“Let’s go… together,” Jung Ha-Yan said.
“Where…?” I asked.
“...”
“...”
“Harizel,” Jung Ha-Yan answered.
“...”
“T-To meet oppa,” Jung Ha-Yan added.
