Being the country’s biggest mall, it provides very little that it doesn’t.

It even has a high-end luxury chain restaurant on its top floor, which is where Adam, Loria, Sandra, Gloria, and her husband are right now.

It’s an elegant restaurant with beautiful lighting; it’s a modern restaurant with beautiful wall decorations, while the furniture in place matches the theme of the restaurant.

Today, the restaurant didn’t look busy.

Most of the seats were empty, only a few occupied by couples or families who were probably here to enjoy each other’s company.

While the general area had very less occupanty, the vip area of the restaurant was mostly empty, except Adam and his group.

They were brought here by the staff after they realized that they would be attending to Loria Thronewood. The change in the staff’s behavior made Adam realize that he might have underestimated Loria’s status.

He already knew that she was rich and came from an influential family, but even for the staff of a restaurant to treat her as if she were royalty made Adam second-guess himself.

He began to wonder just how powerful and influential Loria is and if he can handle such a woman.

Who am I kidding? With Adam’s arrogance, he definitely thinks he can handle a woman like Loria; after all, he is blessed with every possible tool a man can ask for to make any woman lose their footing over him.

Just look at Gloria, for example, just one night with Adam, and her body still seems to remember everything he did to her that night. Just one look at him, and all the beliefs that she had about completely getting over Adam crumbled as she realized how much her body still craved the things she felt that night.

She thought she did her best, but her best was never going to work with the things Adam did to her.

Back to the topic at hand, Adam’s ability to handle a woman like Loria is not the question here; he knows that he can. All he needs to do is get in, and the rest is inevitable.

What he wonders is if he can keep such a woman under control? From what he has seen, even though it has only been a few minutes of interaction with Loria, Adam knows she is authoritative by nature, both externally and internally.

Unlike Margarette, who looks tough on the outside but is actually soft on the inside, that’s why he managed to win her over so easily.

But Loria might be a completely different case, because if things go wrong, with the power she possibly holds, she can make his life hard.

To completely win over Loria, not only will he have to defeat her physically, but also mentally, which might be a challenge because this woman is clearly different.

The way her eyes move around, reading every situation, is different.

Adam noticed the way Loria looked at him after noticing Gloria’s subtle behavior, the flash of realization in her eyes as if she figured out something. It put Adam on alert.

He knows he needs to stay cautious around Loria and play his cards right.

As they are guided to the best seat in the restaurant, Loria effortlessly takes control of the situation and, without saying a word, manages to make everyone sit where she wants them to sit.

Sandra is forced to take the seat at the very end of the corner while she makes sure that Gloria’s husband sits opposite Sandra.

Then Loria sits in the middle, right next to Sandra, but when Gloria was about to sit next to her husband, Loria stops her.

"Can you keep our shopping bags between you? We have no space here," Loria says.

Hearing this, Adam raises his brow because those bags could easily be kept underneath the table, so why is Loria deliberately making a barrier between Gloria and her husband?

Though Adam finds this weird, he doesn’t say anything, as this only works in his favor.

With multiple bags sitting between Gloria and her husband, she feels cut off, but she doesn’t say anything, as this is her husband’s boss, and from what she heard about Loria, Gloria doesn’t want to mess this up for her husband.

So she takes a seat.

It’s finally Adam’s turn to take a seat, but before he could even choose, Loria placed more of her shopping bags next to her and gave Adam a look.

As he meets her eyes, he realizes something. This woman wants him to sit next to Gloria, which also makes him realize that Loria probably has a hunch as to what’s going on between him and Gloria, given that she must have read Gloria like a book.

’She loves to play with people, doesn’t see,’ Adam thinks as he finally begins to understand why Loria invited him to lunch. She wants to be entertained.

Behind that poker face that she wears as a mask is a woman who is bored and wants to see chaos.

Adam didn’t expect that a random woman he met while shopping would turn his already busy day into more chaos.

Adam smiles. If Loria wants to be entertained, he will give it to her.

He takes a seat right next to Gloria.

Her husband just takes a glance at Adam and feels a little uncomfortable having a young, handsome man sit next to his wife, who he knows has already cheated on him, which makes him feel a little insecure, but he doesn’t say anything as Loria clearly made the young man sit next to his wife, and he can’t go against his boss.

Loria’s not just any boss; she is the most powerful person he knows, and he doesn’t want to get on her bad side.

"Is everyone comfortable?" Loria asks, smiling. For the first time, she smiles, wide enough to be considered an actual smile, but it’s the fakest smile possible.

"Yes! Very comfortable!" Gloria’s husband immediately answers.

"What was your name again?" Loria asks, catching Gloria’s husband by surprise.

His boss asked him to join for lunch without knowing his name. Even Adam was surprised by Loria’s audacity, but then again, powerful people like Loria can get away with anything they want.

"It’s Shawn Rhodes," Gloria’s husband introduces himself.

Loria then turns to look at Gloria. "Mrs. Rhodes, I hope you are comfortable as well," Loria says. Not a question, but a statement, to make sure that Gloria agrees with her.

And just like she expected, Gloria nods her head and smiles back at Loria. "I am very comfortable, thank you," Gloria says.

Loria then turns to look at Adam, revealing a soft smirk at him.

Adam tilts his head a little to the side, wondering what devious thought that woman has running in her head right now.

"Since everyone’s comfortable, let’s order," Loria says and signals one of the staff who has been standing close by all this time to approach.

He hands all of them a menu and waits for them to make their order, but before anyone could even say what they wanted to eat.

Loria speaks up and begins ordering for everyone.’

Adam is surprised because she even orders for him. ’This woman clearly likes control just as much as I,’ Adam thinks.

If there is one thing Adam doesn’t want in this life is for someone to make decisions for him, even if it is choosing what he is going to eat.

"Cancel that, I will have the gourmet burger," Adam says, without hesitation, and meets Loria’s eyes.

Even though Adam’s not rich and looks like a high-class man, his taste is still the same, burgers and pizzas, he is not going to change his eating preference just because his entire being has changed. He likes what he likes.

Sandra’s eyes widen, and so does Shawn’s. They are stunned because Adam went against Loria. Both of them are very aware of Loria’s reputation and how she hates to be challenged, so much so that even her husband doesn’t dare go against her because when it comes to their marriage, Loria’s the one who holds all the power.

She only took his last name for the sake of tradition.

So, for Adam to completely disregard her choice and order something for himself is like stepping on Loria’s foot and challenging her.

They stare at Loria, wondering how she is going to react.

Adam also notices the change in the atmosphere, as if he just hit a hornet’s nest, given how Shawn and Sandra are reacting to his actions.

"Are you sure? What I ordered for you is quite good," Loria says, giving Adam the chance to change his decision.

Adam looks at Loria. If he sticks to his decision, it might ruin his chance with Loria, and that would be quite a loss, but then again, he is not going to let someone walk over him, even if it’s one of the most beautiful women he has laid his eyes upon.

It all goes back to him being in control, even if it’s the smallest thing possible. Adam’s not going to be a simp.

"I am sure. I like burgers. I think you should also try it," Adam says, now flipping it on Loria, telling her to change her decision.

Of course, Adam doesn’t expect her to change it. He just wanted to give her a taste of her own medicine, even though it probably tastes like nothing because he still has no power over her.

Hearing Adam’s words, Shawn and Sandra tense up even more.
