Regressing Through the Apocalypse with the Third Male Lead-Chapter 47: Volume 2 -
Chapter 47: Volume 2: Chapter 47
Freyah glanced at Florence who was still not waking up. It has been two days already, and yet he was still unconscious. Based on the elders who checked his condition, he was not in a grave situation anymore.
He didn’t have any severe wounds. And yet he was still not waking up. This was what they probably have like mana depletion from using too much of your magic ability.
Looking at Florence who seemed to be sleeping peacefully. He was indeed gorgeous. Platinum hair that looked so smooth. He even had thick and long eyelashes and thicker brows. His nose was sharp and his face was unblemished. He got a bit tanned due to construction but it still didn’t hide his beauty.
"You can sleep really well." Freyah leaned her head on the wall. "I’m jealous. Other than some light naps that lasted 5 to 10 minutes... that’s the only thing I can do." She sighs.
She brought out one of the daggers that was hidden on her ankle. Then looked at her reflection on the blade. Then all of the sudden, she stabbed her right hand.
There was pain. Freyah somewhat made it a habit. To feel the tingling sensation of pain.
"Things like demons," Freyah murmured and leaned her head on the blade with her blood trickling on it. Thinking deeply. About demons and how they’re here. They shouldn’t be at all.
And what causes that trigger, the cocoon and Paula.
Freyah was lost in her thoughts remembering things from the past, studying the details again and again as if something was missing.
Without noticing that Florence had already regained consciousness hearing her whispers, He stays still for the moment just laying in the bed and processing everything. The last time he remembered he was falling and that’s it.
Was everything fine now? Did he exterminate the cocoon successfully?
His eyes fixed on Freyah who seemed lost in her thoughts, Florence’s eyes narrowed as he saw the blood and the blade on her hands, ’did she hurt herself?’ He questions after all no one can really hurt Freyah but herself and Florence slowly tries to lift himself up to sit. Looking around the room and then back to Freyah who was still lost in thoughts.
"Lady Lima..." Florence called, his voice still hoarse and raspy from sleeping for so long. He tries to stand but his legs are still feeling numb, he shouldn’t force it for now. This call immediately snapped Freyah and looked at him surprised momentarily, before composing herself and clearing his voice.
"You’re awake your majesty, I thought you’d enjoy your rest so much that you didn’t want to have any plans to wake up anytime soon" She almost teased wanting to lighten the mood for them as she studied Florence reaction checking for any discomfort.
He seems really fine now, his body just really needs that rest but still he shouldn’t force himself well after all he used all of his strength.
"how are you feeling your majesty?" She asked,
Florence smiled and stretched his body to fully wake all his senses, "Well, It’s good to be back, now everything went well right?" he asked, almost expecting that everything went successfully after he lost his consciousness. Freyah gave a nod and Florence felt relieved.
"yes" She replied, "you did great, i must say I’m impressed that you’d be able to pull out such a spell" She praises still leaning against the wall with her arms crossed against her chest, she already healed herself without any evidence of getting hurt.
Florence chuckles, "Are you really praising me, Lady Lima?" Florence who was fixing his messy hair teases back, just a playful banter between them. Freyah nodded her head, "yes I am" genuinely speaking.
Florence can’t help but just smile, " How’s the girl..." He hesitated before Freyah have her a reassuring replied,
"She’s doing well, they’re taking care of her, for now you should stay resting, you need it" Freyah approached and gave him a pat on his shoulder.
Florence without any protests nodded, "I’ll get you something to eat so you can fully recover your majesty" Freyah added walking towards the door, leaving Florence who seems to be excited upon hearing food.
Florence then leans against the bed’s cardboard, remembering everything, He really did successfully exterminated and use the purification ritual,
Kathleen is right after all, Florence takes a deep breath, It’s been long now since he last saw her, he wondered what is happening back to his world, is she doing alright? Is everything peaceful now? He hoped so.
The longer he thinks about Kathleen’s face, the more it’s becoming blurred and he didn’t want it. He wanted to keep her memories alive inside him but it’s hard when everything is new now for him and for god only knows how long he’ll be here.
Florence closes his eyes, yes he had used a purification magic but he thought by using this he will feel more connected to Kathleen but it seems the opposite, He couldn’t feel any sense of familiarity of her with the presence of the magic when he used it.
Florence snapped out of his thoughts when the door opened again with Freyah and his tray of food, peeking at her side was Harley, Cherellyn, Cheral, those three kiddos who looked worried.
"Your food your highness" Freyah put the tray down in his bed, "In Front of him "and some visitors" she chuckles gesturing to the three.
"Your highness!" The three exclaimed, excited.
" You’re awake!!" Cheryllyn’s eyes sparkled, as she got close.
"We thought you’re in a coma or something" Harley chuckles and sits down on a chair while Cheral smirks with smugness while crossing his arms.
Florence prioritizes food above everything. After all, he will regain his strength faster if he eats, right? as he takes it before responding to them, "You seem all doing well" He smiles giving everyone a proud look, they all did well fighting there with them.
The three giggled, proud to themselves, "You should eat more! Your highness!"
"yeah I bought some fruits"
"Oi! Me first! I brought some juice for him"
"Tch, Kuya Florence won’t take that"
The three struggle to spoil Florence who is confused but chuckles at their care, while Freyah smiles watching them before turning her back and becoming serious again and leaves the room which Florence notices. His eyes follow her till she’s out of the room knowing she’s probably thinking about something as he tries to focus his attention on the three.
Remember earlier, Freyah was murmuring about something, about demons, what is she thinking at the moment, Florence sighs knowing he wouldn’t know unless Freyah confided in him, well he still can’t read Freyah.
No matter how much time they already spent with each other, there’s still a barrier between them that Freyah herself builds in. She’s still secretive in a lot of things as if she is just sharing the important points of what happened back in the past-future
He understands that he doesn’t need to dwell on her troubles and just go with the flow with her but how could he not want to dive in when Freyah was the only one who’s always running to catch him again and again. Florence discreetly sighs trying to focus his attention to the chattering of the three who can’t stop repeating the things they did in the battle.
Florence tries to relax, chewing a ’kamote’
Before losing consciousness, he can feel his body weak and heavy as he falls from the sky. He’s going to hit the ground if he won’t do something, but what can he possibly do? When his body feels numb, his hand was no use; at the moment he’s too weak to do something to save himself, yet Florence didn’t feel any fear of hurting himself and failing.
As his eyes landed to the ground, there she was. There she was always running at her speed, her eyes focused and intense, to catch him again and there Florence can feel nothing but relief, he’s not going to die anytime soon with her watch and he can peacefully close his eyes knowing Freyah was already there for him.
How can I not care when Lady Lima always got his back? Maybe he’s overthinking but it doesn’t seem to be fair. Is it because of the soul contract? Or because he is someone useful to her? No, it doesn’t seem that way that Freyah was all out there as everyone’s shield. Yes, not just him but everyone’s.
Back to his world he was used to always being the one who is sacrificing, who is saving, he was used to being the one who is always out there protecting, shielding and getting everyone’s back but now it’s the other way round.
He felt a slight sense of uselessness just thinking that there’s still a huge gap between him and Freyah, that he’s still far from knowing the truth in her, maybe he’ll never even know anything.
how on earth can he be Freyah’s savior in her world?
