Regressing Through the Apocalypse with the Third Male Lead-Chapter 42: Volume 2.
Chapter 42: Volume 2. Chapter 42
Deafening sounds of bombs and gunshots echoed everywhere as chaos started. Smoke expanded everywhere, covering the scene as zombies relentlessly forced their way through, driven by a single-minded purpose: destruction.
Freyah rushed through the horde of zombies gathering around the walls taking them down one by one. She then rushed down through the foot of the mountain, that was when she heard another round of gunshots coming from the prison cell.
The prison cells for people who committed acts that could danger anyone in the village. It consisted of four three storey buildings with a small wall surrounding it.
Standing at the top of these platforms was Uncle Thomas and other men who were guarding the prison cells and currently fighting against the zombies.
They were shooting the zombies rushing through the walls, trying to get through their defenses. Freyah rushed through the front gates and easily killed most of the zombies on her way. Then she jumped through the gates up to where the platforms surrounding the walls.
"Freyah!" Thomas called as soon as Freyah reached them.
"What’s the situation?" She asked firmly examining the whole ground.
"As you can see, we are still surrounded by zombies. What’s happening?" Uncle Thomas answered amidst the loud sounds of gunshots.
"One of the survivors we took in caused this. She is attracting all of these zombies."
"Where did they even come from? We have cleared most of the areas in Talibon and the surrounding cities." Uncle Thomas sighs heavily as he kept firing at multiple zombies ahead who were desperate to get to them.
"That is something I’m not certain yet." Freyah murmur as she also fired her gun to the incoming zombies. Honestly, she preferred to use her daggers or knives rather than wasting bullets like this.
The fight continued without interruptions, it was loud and chaotic. Freyah’s eyes narrowed, Looking down at the horde, among the zombies, there were multiple evolved zombies. "TikTik" The one she met in Manila.
They evade bullets quickly, are more aggressive and slick than regular zombies, and easily climb the walls, growling at them.
"What are those?" Uncle Thomas asked, frowning as his eyes fixed, seeing those unfamiliar monsters’ movements as he kept up with his job and started to target those Tiktik, aiming at them precisely but they won’t seem to falter.
"Tiktiks," Freyah replied quietly as she also switched to shooting those evolved ones to slow them down first.
"Tiktik? An evolved zombie?" Uncle Thomas asked with eyes widened in disbelief. This is his first time encountering evolved zombies and he can see that they’re no joke. Studying their movements they can easily climbed walls like huge hungry lizards with not so cute face.
"Yes. That’s them. They could climb walls and their tongues were acidic and stretched upto 20 meters." Freyah answered, precisely. freёweɓnovel_com
"Based on the manual you wrote, their brains are on their left thigh." Uncle Thomas asked, confirming as he remembered those details from the manual.
"Yes." Freyah nodded her head,
"Well, I’m getting bored with the regular ones." Uncle Thomas said momentarily stopped shooting and stretched his neck side by side making a quiet crack sound as if he regained some motivation and whistled thrice and his men immediately in action and rolled barrels of oil. They poured it on every side of the wall. Their movements were quick, not wasting any second.
The walls in defense with wall climbing evolved zombies have one feature as well. They were spikes embedded to it so that those evolved won’t be able to climb easily. Then in the actual battle where they would need to fight. The second anti climbing evolves were these oils from coconuts.
Everyday, since the creation of the wall, three months ago, the villagers were collecting oils from coconuts. In the village, they were also doing the same thing at the moment.
Though before reaching the walls the huge ditch they created was also hindering the evolved zombies. Freyah grabbed a sniper gun. With much precision and expertise, she hit the Titktik’s thigh one by one. Easily exterminating them.
"You never told me how you got so good at using guns or fighting when you didn’t even take the military." Uncle Thomas chuckles as he watches Freyah in awe. Feeling very proud at the moment.
"I told you Uncle, it’s part of my skills." Freyah smirks as she keeps shooting the evolved zombies with ease.
The gun was out of bullets. "Are you all going to be fine here?" Freyah asked.
"We are good here. If we need any help and reinforcements we will fire the signal right away." Uncle Thomas reassured, looking at the ongoing horde of zombies. "Maybe these were all the zombies in Bohol. After this night, we might be able to clear the province of zombies." He spoke confidently.
Freyah grinned. "Let’s still not be complacent. Until we go to every city and corner of Bohol and see that there were no zombies anywhere. We could expand the base further all over Bohol. That’s the time we can say that Bohol will be cleared of zombies."
"Right. Right." Uncle Thomas nodded in agreement, knowing she was stating the fact. Bohol wasn’t safe till they had gone through every corner.
"I’ll take my leave now and return to the village. I’ll see the situation there." Freyah straightened herself and brought down the sniper gun on the side giving one last glance to Uncle Thomas who just gave her a small nod. Then without wasting too much time, she jumped out from the front gate landing with determination. Then ran ahead to the hordes of the zombies that were on the other side of the ditch.
Before going back, Freyah made a dash killing of zombies and evolved alike around every side of the wall, easily getting through them one by one. Then once she was satisfied, she dashed back to the village to asses the situation there.
When she was nearing the top to the entrance of the village. She paused when a surge of bright light suddenly exploded followed by multiple magic circles. Then Florence was now in front of the cocoon sphere. He was around three meters away.
Magic circles surrounded the sphere. Then Florence gestured one his right hand forward and a bright green light surged out from it.
It hit the cocoon and Freyah couldn’t help but cover her eyes at the explosion of bright light.
Then a few minutes later...
She noticed that the surrounding zombies that were coming seemed confused and some were retreating. "Is it over?" She looks confused as well.
Freyah glanced at the skies. Then all of the sudden fog surrounded them, covering everything and making it hard to see through
Then she winced and clutched her hand when she felt a strong intimidating force. The next thing she knew a huge hand emerged from the smoke, it’s almost a giant.
Boognish!
The huge hand, appearing out of nowhere, slapped Florence with tremendous force as he was still midair. The impact was so strong it made the air tremble. Freyah without wasting time ran to the direction of Florence who was falling from the skies.
"Your highness!!" She screamed,
"KILL HER!"
She ran with all the speed she could muster.
"GAHHHH!"
A loud screams of hoarse voices roared through the skies echoing everywhere, sending terror and another strong impact of forces causing the ground to tremble, before Freyah could react she catched the fallen prince first and again another shock waves from repeated roared makes Freyah hold on tight to Florence as she withstand the force, standing firmly with Florence in her arms and she jumped away the from chaos to safe distance.
"Your highness you got hit" Freyah looked down to him with a slight worry, examining his body for any injuries, Florence winced, a quiet groan escaped his lips while his body was numb at the moment from the strong impact that hit him. His eyes fixed on Freyah’s with unease. He was now healing himself.
"Lady Lima...I failed," he whispered, shifting his gaze to Freyah’s forehead, Freyah shook her head and gently put him down on his feet as soon as he regained his strength back, "No you didn’t your highness" gesturing to the retreating zombies, who was affected and attracted by the cocoon he had successfully destroyed.
"But we do have a little problem" then gesturing her head In front of them a huge silhouette, as the fog slowly vanished making a clear view and revealing the gigantic monster standing tall In front of them, both Freyah and Florence looked up. An intense energy surrounding the place.
And another scream roared through the sky, the monster making its appearance acknowledged as it glares down with nothing but the intent to destroy and kill.
Harley, Cheral and Cherylyn ran to them with a look of panic, waiting for their next step. Florence glanced down to Freyah, "Lady Lima what now?" He asked almost as if he’s waiting for an order to follow. Freyah stayed quiet for a moment before splashing a smile.
"What?" She murmured before stepping forward and grinned, preparing herself.
"Get ready!"
