Redemption of a Born Demon-Chapter 59: Karma Must Be Repaid, Changing the Target to Siam
Yi Beidou felt only a slight pain in his arm; the Great Vow Master had pecked away a chunk of flesh from his bicep, sending blood flying.
The old monk, however, used the force from the palm strike to launch himself away. Completely ignoring his shattered, limp arm and the blood he was coughing up, his feet barely touched the ground upon landing before he sprinted deep into the forest without a backward glance.
Yi Beidou had never expected such a response from his opponent. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
’Take my palm strike head-on, just to peck a piece of flesh from my arm?’
’No matter how I look at it, that’s not normal behavior.’
But no matter what, he couldn’t possibly let the old monk get away.
However, things didn’t go as planned. The eighteen men threw themselves at Yi Beidou like madmen, desperately clinging to him.
Even if they couldn’t injure Yi Beidou, they were at the Soul-Stealing Peak, which was more than enough to slow him down.
"GET OFF!"
Yi Beidou’s body jolted. With a sharp twist of his waist, he flung off several of the Mo Luo clinging to him. Their internal organs ruptured, they collapsed to the ground vomiting blood. Yet the other Mo Luo still charged him, fearless of death.
A dozen breaths later, only eighteen blood-soaked corpses remained on the ground, along with an assortment of what appeared to be priceless Dharma Artifacts.
Yi Beidou flicked the blood from his hands, his expression grim.
When the Great Vow Master first fled, Yi Beidou could still sense and lock onto his presence using Celestial Demon Sensing, even after the monk was out of sight.
But after being delayed by those fiends, he had completely lost the man’s trail.
Although Yi Beidou possessed the Thousand-Mile Soul Lock technique, its effectiveness depended on the target.
Clearly, this man was extraordinary, possessing unique spiritual abilities and a familiarity with Array Barriers. If he was determined to hide, not even Yi Beidou’s Celestial Demon Sensing could pinpoint his exact location.
"I intended to stop this and return to my country, unwilling to cause any more slaughter. But since you chose to stand in my way, this matter won’t end so easily."
Yi Beidou muttered to himself, turning to gaze toward a particular direction in the forest. "As the saying goes, ’The monk can run, but the temple can’t.’ If I can’t catch you, I’ll just make another trip and destroy your Dao Field first."
Then, instead of heading toward the Donghua Country Border, he turned and sprinted in the direction of Siam, disappearing into the jungle.
「Meanwhile.」
The Great Vow Master’s robes were torn, and the left side of his body hung limp. He raced through the forest until he found a hidden cave, slipping inside to completely conceal his presence.
CRACK! CRACK!!
He manipulated the left side of his body, and the sound of bones snapping back into place echoed. He was setting his own bones.
"What a Free Celestial Demon. To turn a calamity into an opportunity, create his own Seal Technique, and reverse Yin and Yang... Even the physical body I’ve honed through years of subduing demons could barely resist him. His talent is truly extraordinary. I really underestimated him."
"The losses this time were immense. The Eighteen Demon Kings, whom I spent so many years cultivating, were all lost in a single day, along with several Protective Treasure Artifacts. However, it was all worth it."
The Great Vow Master muttered to himself, a sharp glint in his eyes as he gently stroked his abdomen.
The piece of flesh he had pecked from Yi Beidou’s arm a short while ago, at the cost of grievously injuring half his body, was now inside his stomach.
’Although I failed to bring the Celestial Demon to Enlightenment and advance my Ksitigarbha’s Skillful Method, I did manage to obtain a piece of a Celestial Demon’s flesh. Perhaps this can help my Golden Body advance to the next level.’
The Great Vow Master thought to himself.
’This man is vengeful over the smallest slight. He was attacked in Spring City, and by the next day, he was on a rampage in Northern Myanmar. Now that I’ve ambushed him, if he can’t find me, he will surely go to destroy my Dao Field.’
A contemplative look appeared on the Great Vow Master’s face. He had no communication devices on him and wondered if he should find a way to warn the authorities in Siam.
But in the end, he abandoned the idea.
First, he was severely injured, his strength greatly diminished. It was already difficult enough to conceal himself from his opponent’s senses. If he were to get entangled in new karmic threads now, he feared he wouldn’t escape the other’s Dharma Eye.
Second, without his protection, it would be useless to warn them even if he could. If his opponent was bent on revenge, no one in Siam could stop him. His relationship with the local government was one of mutual benefit; he didn’t expect them to risk everything to protect him.
"So be it. The Celestial Demon’s power is blazing. I failed to subdue him, so I must face this tribulation. All worldly possessions are illusory; only my own Cultivation is real."
The Great Vow Master’s voice grew fainter. His eyes slowly closed, as if he were entering a state of Nirvana.
Dao Fields and factions were all fleeting illusions. He had reached his current heights not through the power of a group, but through his own individual might. His followers were merely tools to serve his Cultivation.
As long as he remained safe and sound, perhaps even improving his Cultivation, everything he had lost would naturally return to him once he reemerged.
Meanwhile, intelligence about the attack in Northern Myanmar spread rapidly among the world’s intelligence agencies. Many of them now knew that Donghua had a new "killing star," a Saint Expert who had achieved Body Ascension.
Back in Donghua, the higher-ups at the Special Security Bureau and other agencies breathed a collective sigh of relief. They had heard that Yi Beidou successfully destroyed his target and escaped, and that the local militias in Northern Myanmar couldn’t find a single trace of him.
’To think he actually went all that way by himself to wipe out a Pioneer Group branch and cause such a bloodbath.’
Next, they would have to face censure and inquiries from all sides—a mountain of headaches to deal with. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ phone lines had reportedly been ringing off the hook all night.
’But at least it’s finally over. He should be back in the country soon. We just have to hope he doesn’t stir up any more trouble.’
"The moment Mr. Yi returns to the country, notify me immediately."
Zhao Ping ordered his subordinates.
However, a day later, Zhao Ping still had not received any news of Yi Beidou’s return.
This made not only Zhao Ping nervous, but all the relevant domestic departments as well.
"Any sign of him at the border?! Report immediately if you find anything, understand!"
"Any leads from Zhou Baiwei? Has Mr. Yi contacted her?"
"What about our intelligence network in Nanyang? Any word on Mr. Yi?"
"..."
A full day had passed. Yi Beidou should have already been back in the country, but he was nowhere to be found. What on earth had happened?!
Everyone had a bad feeling about this.
Meanwhile, as the morning sun cast its rays, Yi Beidou found himself within the borders of Siam.
「Siam. Qingshui City. Outside the Great Bao Lian Temple.」
Although it was still early morning, the streets outside the temple were already bustling with people.
As the Dao Field of a Saint Expert who had achieved Body Ascension, the Great Bao Lian Temple was not only famous locally; its reputation had spread far and wide, reaching even beyond the seas.
Siam is a devout Buddhist nation, with temples on practically every corner, but in terms of both scale and prestige, the Great Bao Lian Temple was easily in the top three.
It was one of Qingshui City’s most famous tourist attractions. The crowd on the street consisted not only of locals but also a great number of tourists and devotees from all over the world.
Yi Beidou stood on the street opposite the Great Bao Lian Temple, quietly observing the bustling crowds and the magnificently gilded temple complex.
