Redemption of a Born Demon-Chapter 55: An Indiscriminate Massacre, Calm in the Heart of Purgatory
The corridor shook, the walls caved in, and plaster rained down from the ceiling. The five gunmen’s bodies, looking as if they’d been hit head-on by a truck, lay scattered and bloody on the ground. As for the representatives of the five major powers and the two remaining gunmen, the shock and tremors had sent them sprawling to the floor.
They had heard tales about the terror such individuals could unleash, but they had never truly understood it until now.
This wasn’t a man. He was like a god or a demon—a human weapon, a humanoid tyrannosaurus, a living cannonball!
Attacked one day, and the next he had already crossed the border, scaled a seventeen-story building, and come to their door—all by himself. What kind of man could do that?!
However, Yi Beidou’s attention wasn’t on them at all. The heavily wounded Mr. Guo was not yet dead.
He was going to finish him off.
His palms blurred into afterimages, raining down relentlessly on Mr. Guo’s body.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Dust and smoke billowed as the building shuddered. The assault lasted a full three seconds before it stopped.
The woman in the elegant cheongsam was now a mess, her hair disheveled and her makeup ruined by a film of cold sweat. Amid the terrifying roars, she could only cower in a corner, hugging her head and clamping her hands over her ears, too afraid to move a muscle.
When the tremors finally subsided, the will to survive forced her to push past her fear and scramble to her feet.
’I have to escape this place. I have to get away from this Demon King of a monster.’
However, she had just gotten to her feet when she froze. A footstep sounded. Perhaps due to the violent Emitting Force, the man’s ill-fitting clothes had burst, revealing a physique of pure steel.
But the woman had no mind to admire his form. In her eyes, the man was shrouded in an impenetrable black mist.
His Demon Nature was profound, his killing intent a boundless ocean.
"I’m the representative of the Li Family! Your business has nothing to do with us. We all came here to demand an explanation from Guo Zhenjiang. Let me go, and I can guarantee you a safe exit. Killing me won’t do you any good—"
The woman in the cheongsam suppressed her terror, speaking faster than she ever had in her life to the tall, Demon Lord-like figure before her.
But before she could finish, a palm filled her vision.
CRACK!
The immense force snapped her cervical vertebrae, sending her head spinning a full rotation and a half. The rest of her words died in her throat. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Her eyes were wide with disbelief. Even in death, she could have never imagined that the man before her wouldn’t even let her finish speaking.
At the same time, the dust settled, allowing the representatives of the other major powers to witness the scene. They had all heard the woman’s plea, and now they could only stare, wide-eyed.
A normal person would have likely accepted the woman’s offer. After all, this was their territory, and in theory, this affair really didn’t concern them directly.
But this man was different. He struck without a shred of hesitation.
’He’s a complete and utter madman.’
"You maniac! You can’t kill us! We have no quarrel with you!"
The stout, round-faced, middle-aged man shrieked hysterically. The expensive Buddha Beads he always carried were long gone, scattered who-knows-where.
He was the representative of the Jin Family, one of the five major powers, and was known locally as the "Smiling Tiger." He always wore a smile, but his methods were utterly ruthless. Those who crossed him were lucky to only be flayed alive.
Rumor had it that there was a meat grinder at his slaughterhouse that was rarely used. When it was, it wasn’t grinding livestock.
But in front of Yi Beidou, the man’s face was utterly devoid of a smile.
"You appear here, yet you dare claim to be uninvolved? You reek of malevolence, like an Evil Ghost walking the earth. Since our paths have crossed today, I might as well send you all back to Hell together."
Yi Beidou’s expression remained as calm as still water, completely unshaken.
For these people to be here at this time, they obviously had prior contact with the Pioneer Group. Even if they didn’t know about the operation against him, they were still guilty of harboring the Pioneer Group and concealing their tracks.
Besides, according to his Celestial Demon Sensing, they were all steeped in malevolence. They were undoubtedly evildoers. It was only right to slaughter them all.
SWISH!
He blurred, appearing before the fat man in an instant. The sole of a foot rapidly filled the man’s vision.
SPLAT!
Before the fat man could utter a single word, his head exploded like a watermelon under Yi Beidou’s foot.
"AHHHH!"
The sight drove the others to the brink of madness. Realizing he would never let them go, their ferocity overcame their fear. They scrambled for their guns, hoping to make a final stand.
But it was like infants wielding fire pokers; they posed no threat to Yi Beidou.
THWACK! THWACK!
Red, white, purple, and green matter splattered across the cratered floor and walls, filling the air with a putrid stench.
Anyone walking in on this scene would think they had stepped into Purgatory on Earth.
Yet Yi Beidou, the cause of it all, stood amidst the carnage with an exceptionally calm gaze. It was different from his usual composure; now, his eyes held a sense of profound tranquility and peace.
He was a Celestial Demon incarnate. Killing was his nature, a nature he had always suppressed. But now, it was finally unleashed.
Yet he was not a bloodthirsty monster ruled by his body. Instead, his spirit was in absolute command.
Unleash his will, kill his foes, extinguish Evil Techniques, and slay Evil Ghosts.
At this moment, with his body and mind in perfect harmony, standing in this Purgatory of flesh and blood, he felt at peace.
"Target’s over there!"
Just then, a flurry of hurried footsteps and shouts echoed from the hallway. The building’s fully-armed security guards were swarming in Yi Beidou’s direction.
"Looks like I’ll have to go on a rampage today."
Yi Beidou’s expression was placid. He reached out and grabbed the neck of the now-silent Mr. Guo, who was still embedded in the wall, and yanked him free from the indentation.
By now, Mr. Guo’s body had been severely deformed by Yi Beidou’s relentless assault. But a body that had achieved Body Ascension was no small matter. Even after such a beating, though his organs were pulverized, his skin and muscle remained largely intact.
"Let me borrow your body."
Hoisting Mr. Guo’s corpse, Yi Beidou charged down one end of the corridor.
Gunfire, explosions, and screams erupted one after another from within the building.
From the outside, flashes of gunfire could be seen in waves on the building’s upper floors. Every so often, a window would explode outward, and figures in Oulaido Group security uniforms would plummet from the high-rise, their screams cut short as they splattered onto the ground below, drenching it in blood.
"A devil! It’s a devil! A devil has come to earth!"
Shortly after, people began to flee the building in a mad rush, screaming like lunatics, as if they had witnessed some unspeakable horror.
This series of events made the scalps of even the hardened observers from various factions, who were watching from the shadows and were no strangers to bloodshed, tingle with fear.
Tonight, rivers of blood flowed through Oleduo Mansion.
And everything that happened here was rapidly spreading throughout the city, carried by the eyes of every witness.
