Redemption of a Born Demon-Chapter 53: Scaling the Wall, a Celestial Demon’s Visage Shockingly Appears Outside the Window (Part 1)
Yi Beidou strolled through the city streets, just like an ordinary person.
Northern Myanmar was a complex place, likely crawling with Pioneer Group spies. In his original form, he would stick out like a sore thumb. He could be discovered before finding his target, causing unnecessary complications.
Yi Beidou was well aware that he wasn’t invincible. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have bothered training in Donghua. He would have just crossed the ocean to take the fight directly to his enemies.
A great man from Donghua once said: strategically, despise your enemy; tactically, take them seriously.
"Hey, buddy. Where you from? Lookin’ for a little excitement?"
However, even with his altered form, Yi Beidou’s aura was still completely at odds with the city. So, not long after he entered, he was spotted by some local thugs who wanted to accost him.
But as the men approached Yi Beidou, they were struck by an intense, bone-chilling cold that seemed to freeze their very thoughts. When they snapped out of it, the figure was gone.
"Damn it, what the hell was that?"
Snapping back to their senses, the men couldn’t help but shudder.
As the saying goes, only the guilty fear ghosts knocking at their door. And how many of the thugs who loitered on these streets had clean hands?
How could running into something like this in the middle of the night not be terrifying?
"Let’s go! Get out of here, now! Tomorrow, we’ll go to the Grand Buddha Temple and get a Peace Talisman."
The man in the lead said, taking a deep breath.
Yi Beidou moved through the city like a phantom, sometimes melting into the shadows, other times disappearing into the crowds.
Whenever someone’s gaze lingered on him or they tried to approach, they would be hit by a ghostly chill that froze their very thoughts.
If he were to wander through a city like this for any length of time, he would no doubt spawn a new wave of urban legends and ghost stories.
Following his Celestial Demon Sensing, Yi Beidou drew closer and closer to Oleduo Mansion.
Before long, he arrived near Oleduo Mansion. From the shadows of a street corner, he gazed up at the building, his eyes locking onto a specific floor.
He could sense it: the most threatening target was on that very floor.
"Found you."
Yi Beidou muttered to himself.
「The next moment.」
CRACK! CRACK!!
The sound of bones cracking echoed from his body as his folded frame seemed to unfurl, returning him to his original appearance.
With a calm expression, Yi Beidou’s figure flashed. He left the shadows of the alley and darted toward Oleduo Mansion like a phantom.
His target, however, was not the building’s heavily guarded main entrance, but its poorly defended rear.
"Who?!"
The two security guards at the rear of the building saw a flicker in the shadows. A chilling cold washed over them, their minds went blank, and they lost consciousness.
Yi Beidou didn’t break in through a window. Instead, with a light push of his feet, he launched himself onto the building’s facade. Using the cracks in the wall, he scurried upward with the speed of an ape or a spider.
「Meanwhile.」
A kilometer away from Oleduo Mansion, in an ordinary three-story house, the curtains on a window facing the skyscraper were drawn tight. But if one looked closely, they would spot the dark lens of a spotting scope peeking through a gap at the edge of the fabric.
Inside the room was a Caucasian couple, appearing to be in their thirties or forties.
Ostensibly, they were employees sent to Northern Myanmar by some corporation. In reality, they belonged to Beisha Country’s special intelligence division.
Donghua wasn’t the only country in the world keeping tabs on the Pioneer Group.
Using a special intelligence network in Europe, they had identified the Oulaido Group as the Pioneer Group’s Nanyang regional headquarters. They had been monitoring it from the shadows ever since, waiting for an opportunity.
Even though it was just a branch office, the data and experimental materials within were still of immense value.
"Representatives from the five major powers in Northern Myanmar have all entered Oleduo Mansion. It looks like they’re here because of what happened in Donghua. With five Super Warriors lost in Yunhai Province, the Pioneer Group must be at its weakest right now. Maybe this is our chance to make a move."
The female agent whispered.
"According to our intel, the president of the Oulaido Group is likely one of the most advanced types of Super Warrior. Our assets in Nanyang are too limited. Acting rashly would be a mistake."
The male agent said, continuing to peer through the spotting scope.
"Maybe we could find a way to leak the Oulaido Group’s intel to Donghua?"
The female agent suggested.
"That’s one way to do it. But the Oulaido Group is deeply entangled with the five major powers, and they’re all backed by local militias. Without deploying a full army, Donghua can’t do much. It’ll probably be the same as always: they’ll serve up a few small-fry scapegoats, then the real players will just change their name and go back into hiding."
"A master who has achieved Body Ascension would certainly be a threat, but I doubt Donghua would risk such a valuable asset so easily. This is foreign territory, after all, and the Pioneer Group is here in force. Who knows what might happen..."
The male agent shook his head, but before he could finish, his face contorted as if he’d just seen a ghost. He must have seen something unbelievable through the scope, because he couldn’t help but gasp, "What the hell is that?!"
Through the scope, he could clearly see something scaling the wall of Oleduo Mansion at incredible speed. In the darkness, it looked for all the world like a giant spider.
Only on closer inspection did he realize it was clearly a person.
A person?!
A person climbing a modern skyscraper at the speed of a competition climber?!
"What is it?"
The female agent frowned at his reaction.
"Someone’s attacking Oleduo Mansion! They look Asian... it could be a Super Warrior from Donghua!"
After his initial shock, the male agent quickly put the pieces together.
’Only a Super Warrior who has achieved Body Ascension could perform such a superhuman feat.’
"What?!"
The female agent’s pupils contracted. She snatched the other pair of binoculars from the table, threw open the curtains, and stared toward Oleduo Mansion.
「Inside the mansion.」
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
An alarm blared through Oleduo Mansion. The entire building was not only heavily guarded but also equipped with cameras covering every angle. With 360-degree coverage and no blind spots, someone was always monitoring the feeds.
Against such advanced modern technology, a silent infiltration was practically impossible.
Then again, Yi Beidou had no intention of sneaking in silently.
He was nothing if not self-aware.
But as long as he eliminated all his targets before they could properly react, the alarm was nothing more than background music—hardly a threat at all.
At that exact moment, inside the mansion’s conference room.
Mr. Guo and the representatives of the five major powers were still in the conference room. Lined up on the table before them were test tubes filled with a blue liquid.
"This is Potion No. 7. After use, it will strengthen all of the user’s physical attributes to a certain degree. There is, however, one ’minor’ side effect, but I’m sure none of you here will mind that."
Mr. Guo said with a smile.
The five representatives’ gazes were glued to the vials, their eyes filled with greed.
Living in such a chaotic region, they understood better than anyone that might was the only thing that mattered. They all knew what it would mean to have enough of this biological potion to cultivate an elite fighting force.
The woman in the cheongsam was just reaching for one of the blue vials when the sudden blare of the building’s alarm startled her, freezing her in place.
"What’s going on?!"
Everyone in the conference room shot up from their seats. The woman in the cheongsam happened to be facing one of the room’s windows.
Her pupils contracted violently, and her heart nearly stopped.
She could clearly see a head appearing just outside the conference room window.
’This is the goddamn seventeenth floor!’
