Redemption of a Born Demon-Chapter 36: Empowerment by Obsession, Indulging the Divine Sense to Obtain 1 Form (Part 2)
The voice was as vast as the firmament, echoing layer upon layer within his consciousness, as if an inviolable decree had been passed down.
Hearing this voice, the personality of the Nameless Sword Lord, which had just been born within Yi Beidou, jolted violently.
The situation inside Yi Beidou’s body was currently quite peculiar. In terms of modern psychiatry, his consciousness, under the influence of the potent True Intent within the sword, had effectively split, giving rise to a second personality with a temperament similar to that of the Nameless Sword Lord.
And it was this second personality now in control of his body.
"How is this possible?! You can’t still have the strength to fight back!"
The Sword Lord’s personality roared. He had clearly suppressed the other personality completely and seized control of the body. All that was left was to gradually wear it down and absorb it; its complete annihilation should have been only a matter of time.
How could the original personality, which he had so thoroughly suppressed, now reappear with such unstoppable force?
"Are you surprised? I once had seven personalities inside me. This is just a part of the tribulations I’ve endured. I’m long used to it."
Yi Beidou’s voice boomed once more.
No one could truly understand what tribulations he had endured over the past twenty years, cultivating the Free Heart Technique while possessing a Celestial Demon Body.
Every time a thought stirred, he would be plunged into illusions.
If he felt the desire to eat, delectable flavors would spring up wherever he went, and a cornucopia of delicacies would blanket the earth.
If he felt lust, an empty room would instantly transform into a boudoir of pink gauze and red curtains, where warm, fragrant, yielding bodies would entwine around him like snakes.
Due to years of suppression, compounded by the death of his parents when he was fifteen, Yi Beidou’s mental state had nearly shattered, causing seven personalities to manifest within him.
One was his original self, while the other six were manifestations of the six sensory roots. They constantly vied for control of his body, seeking to indulge the desires each of them represented.
If he were to lose control even once, he would be doomed beyond redemption.
He was constantly walking on thin ice.
Eventually, the six personalities born of the sensory roots all dissipated.
’Compared to the tribulations I endured back then, how could a mere fragment of the past, an incomplete obsession attached to an object, possibly shake my resolve?’
The only reason he had seemingly lost his composure and allowed a second personality to emerge was that he had done so intentionally.
Back at the Cyan Wood Heart Intent Sect, he had perceived the Lotus Born in Fire True Intent from the old locust tree. It had taken him a considerable amount of time to digest, and he only succeeded in integrating it under pressure from Wei Cheng.
Now, the spiritual imprint within the Silent Heart Sword was far more potent than the one Feng Hua Chuan had left behind. By allowing it to spawn a second personality, letting it take control of his body and manifest the Dao and Skill of the Nameless Sword Lord, he could master its secrets much faster.
’Now that I’ve learned the Taoist Skill, this personality has outlived its usefulness. It’s time to get rid of it.’
BOOM!!
Yi Beidou’s will was as irresistible as the might of the heavens.
His acupoints were the stars filling the sky; his blood vessels, the rivers and oceans.
The human body is a world unto itself.
And within this world, Yi Beidou’s will was the inviolable Mandate of Heaven.
"Impossible! How can an impartial, heavenly will be born within such a Demon Body?! Even when I sundered everything in my time, I could not achieve this!"
The personality of the Nameless Sword Lord shrieked madly, yet he was utterly powerless to resist.
The memory fragments of his life rapidly lost their intense emotional charge, fading into just another mundane corner of Yi Beidou’s vast collection of memories. And with that, the personality that had been built upon them naturally vanished.
"Because the path you walked was merely a lesser one."
Yi Beidou’s voice thundered in his consciousness in the final moment before he vanished.
"Hm?!"
In the outside world, the expressions of Fang Xiuyuan and Tao Zihong, who had already resolved to fight to the death, shifted slightly.
They had keenly sensed a change in Yi Beidou.
The Longsword in his hand slowly lowered. The Evil Qi surrounding him gradually receded, his swollen body returned to its normal size, and the bloodshot veins in his eyes vanished.
His eyes regained their former placidness, like the surface of an ancient well, seemingly capable of subjugating any fiend or evil spirit.
’This guy...’
"Are you Yi Beidou, or that Nameless Swordsman?"
Fang Xiuyuan’s eyes glinted. He didn’t lower his guard completely, worried that this was just a deliberate act.
"I am Yi Beidou. My apologies, I didn’t mean to startle you. I merely took advantage of that man’s attempt at Reincarnation, lending him my body to learn his Taoist Skill. Now that I have succeeded, I have extinguished his will."
Yi Beidou spoke calmly. As the two watched, he walked to the side, picked up the Evil Sword that had fallen to the ground, and sheathed it in its Sword Scabbard.
Hearing Yi Beidou’s explanation, Fang Xiuyuan and Tao Zihong exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with obvious distrust.
Even for Saint Experts, what he described was simply too incredible to believe.
For Body Ascension, the key lies not in the physical body, but in the True Intent that shatters one’s limits.
How, then, could one risk allowing their own True Intent to be altered, to let their mind be tainted?
Had they not seen it before? When great changes swept the world and beliefs were upended, some would leap from high-rises, shattering their bodies on the ground below.
A change in one’s Heart Intent could cause their Great Dao to collapse instantly—it was a matter of life and death.
And that was nothing compared to willfully allowing an external evil to invade, giving rise to a second personality, and letting it take control of one’s own body.
To call it merely "dangerous" was an understatement; it was tantamount to suicide.
"How can we possibly believe you?"
Far from relaxing, Fang Xiuyuan began to circulate his qi and blood with even greater intensity.
BOOM!!
Although his physical appearance remained largely unchanged, his entire aura had transformed dramatically.
He seemed to connect with the very ley lines of the earth, as if standing atop a great dragon. Regardless of any changes around him, he himself had become the nexus of a feng shui array, commanding legions of mountains and dragons. His every move was imbued with a mystical power.
"Possession by obsession, Reincarnation, the return of an ancient monster through Corpse Dissolution... We cannot possibly take you at your word. You must prove your innocence to us."
Tao Zihong didn’t dare to relax either.
"Prove myself? Very well. I came here to learn Martial Arts. Having integrated that man’s Taoist Skill, I shall create a new technique. Once you see it, you will understand my Heart Intent."
Yi Beidou said calmly as recent events replayed in his mind.
Wei Cheng, with the bearing of a Buddha, harbored a murderous heart, seeking to remake the world through slaughter and restore order. Tao Zihong’s Thunder Skill, a method of annihilation, had been turned toward an intent of creation, merging old and new to forge a new path. Fang Xiuyuan, though brimming with overwhelming Evil Qi, sought to slay dragons and phoenixes, to challenge the heavens and the earth for the sake of the people.
Malevolence and killing intent, though inherently inauspicious, could become tools of great virtue when used in the right way.
In contrast, the Dao of the Nameless Sword Lord—to kill one’s enemies, one’s kin, and even oneself—appeared valiant and uncompromising, severing all attachments, but in truth, it was nothing but a form of escape.
His will was not firm, so he relied on a façade of action.
This was a lesser path.
However, his Heart Intent method for controlling killing intent and Evil Qi was indeed profound. It could be adapted, integrated into his own Dao, and transformed from a lesser art into something greater.
BOOM!
An intense killing intent suddenly erupted from him. Pushing off with both feet, he charged toward Tao Zihong and Fang Xiuyuan.
He used the Nameless Sword Lord’s Taoist Skill to gather the surging killing intent and Evil Qi, concentrating it all in his palms.
The Nameless Sword Lord killed his enemies and himself to sever all ties, but Yi Beidou’s killing intent was not aimed at taking life. It was aimed at annihilating the dharma.
According to legend, a Celestial Demon brings chaos to the Dao and destroys the Righteous Dharma of the world.
He thrust his palms forward. The Evil Qi condensed, and water vapor turned to mist, as if to sweep the world clean.
But his annihilation of the dharma was not for world destruction. His killing intent manifested as a tribulation, meant to sweep away obstacles and propagate a new dharma!
And what was this new dharma?
Anything that could survive his palms without being annihilated—that was the new dharma!
Once the old sickness is purged, the new dharma reveals itself.
This was the second style of Martial Arts that Yi Beidou had comprehended.
The Destruction Killing Tribulation!
