Chapter 228: The Arsenal of Annihilation

Bjorn landed hard, his boots hitting the ground with a heavy thud, and immediately his body tensed, his muscles coiling as he prepared to fight. He struggled, his arms swinging, his legs bracing, thinking he was still being held by some enemy force, some new threat he had not anticipated.

But then he paused.

His eyes focused, and he saw Lyra standing in front of him, her hands raised in the air, a sheepish smile on her face.

"What the—" Bjorn started, his voice thick with confusion and lingering adrenaline.

Tatehan landed a second later, his own body reacting on pure instinct. He threw a punch at the air in front of him, his fist cutting through empty space, his mind still locked onto the image of the soldier he had been about to retaliate against just moments before.

But there was no soldier. Just Lyra, standing there with both hands raised, her smile widening slightly as she watched the two of them flail.

"Sorry, sorry!" Lyra said quickly, her tone apologetic but tinged with amusement. "That was the only way I could pull you both out of the battlefield without getting myself killed. You two were fighting way too intensely. I couldn’t exactly walk up and tap you on the shoulder."

Bjorn lowered his hands slowly, his breathing still heavy, and he stared at her for a long moment. Then he sighed, shaking his head. "You could have informed us before doing it, lass. A warning would have been nice."

Lyra shrugged, still smiling. "Where’s the fun in that?"

Bjorn muttered something under his breath that sounded like a mix of frustration and grudging respect, but he did not press the issue.

Meanwhile, Tatehan was paying no attention to their conversation. His focus had shifted completely, his visor tracking across the space in front of him, his mind struggling to process what he was seeing.

Lyra had brought him and Bjorn to the second base. The one filled with weapons.

Tatehan stood there, motionless, his eyes going over the rows upon rows of guns, swords, bombs, vehicles, and the three massive mechs standing silent and dormant in the back of the room. The goddamn sheer volume of equipment was staggering, the kind of arsenal that could equip an entire army and still have surplus left over.

And this were no ordinary looking weapons, he was sure this weapons could do a lot of damage.

’Sure’ was even an understatement on what was in front of him.

It was very ’obvious’ rather that the weapons here could do a lot of damage.

And ’Do a lot of damage’ wasn’t even close to the level of damage the weapons were capable of inflicting.

Bjorn started to look around as well, his own expression shifting from confusion to awe as he took in the scope of what they were standing in. He walked slowly toward one of the weapon racks, his fingers brushing against the barrel of a plasma rifle, his eyes narrowing as he examined the craftsmanship.

He had this surprised look on his face like he hadn’t seen anything like this in his life before.

"By the gods..." Bjorn muttered, his voice low and containing something between admiration and anger.

While he was angry at what this weapons were capable of doing and the damage the obscuron would use them to inflict on them and many others. He also admired the beauty of the destruction weapons.

Lyra stepped forward, her expression more serious now, the playful smile fading as she began to explain. "This is not just a storage facility. It’s a staging ground. The Obscuron was planning something big. Really big. Based on the amount of equipment here and the location of the base, I think he was preparing to launch a full-scale assault on one of the northern cities."

She paused, her gaze shifting to Tatehan. "And the closest city to this base is Waython Hollow."

Tatehan’s visor turned toward her, his voice coming through the helmet’s speakers, flat and cold. "He was planning to destroy the city."

Lyra nodded, Tatehan had just repeated what she just said but eh..."Yeah. That’s what I think."

Bjorn let out a low, harsh laugh, the sound devoid of any real humor. He shook his head, his hands resting on his hips, and he muttered under his breath, "That son of a bastard."

Then he shrugged, his tone shifting into something almost casual, and he reached out to pat Tatehan on the shoulder. "But you know, only a whore can give birth to someone this evil and vicious, haha."

Tatehan did not respond. He was still staring at the mechs, his mind turning over the implications of what Lyra had just told him.

Lyra cleared her throat, breaking the silence. "Wanna see inside the other base?" 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Both men turned to look at her, and they nodded in the affirmative.

Lyra started with Tatehan. She summoned a black hole directly behind him, and before he could react, the void pulled him in, swallowing him whole. The world went dark for a fraction of a second, and then he was stepping out of another black hole inside the first base.

The amphitheater.

Tatehan looked around, his visor tracking the rows of multi-tiered bunks that lined the walls, the massive open space in the center, the scale of the structure. It was built to house an army. A real army, not just a few dozen soldiers.

This was a place built of house hundreds of people, fighters of the obscuron who would rest here only to wake up and inflict damage.

A moment later, Bjorn appeared beside him, stepping out of another black hole, his own eyes sweeping across the interior. He let out a low whistle, his expression grim.

"They were planning to bring hundreds of soldiers here," Bjorn said, his voice tight. "Maybe more."

Tatehan nodded slowly. "And then use them to attack Waython Hollow."

They stood there in silence for a long moment, the realization of what they had discovered pressing down on them.

And then Tatehan spoke, his voice cutting through the quiet.

"What do you suggest we do now?"
