Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 461: You’ll Come Home With Me (1)
Lennox walked into their bedroom and paused. He’d always loved solitude, but after meeting and marrying Adrienne, it was hard for him not to miss her presence. He couldn’t help but feel a pang of emptiness without her by his side. Their room felt empty without her.
When he looked at their bed, all he could see was Adrienne’s sleeping form next to him, reminding him of her warmth and comfort. There were traces of her everywhere he looked, from the clothes she left behind to the books she used to read before falling asleep. He missed having her by his side, and the emptiness in his heart grew more unbearable with each passing day.
He sat down on the bed and ran a hand through his hair. Lennox wanted her back more than anything in the world. He wanted to hold her, feel her warmth, hear her laugh, and see her smile again.
However, he knew deep down that he needed to give his wife some time to find herself before trying to reconcile their relationship. Lennox pulled out his phone and checked on it. The photo of him and Adrienne was still the background image. She was smiling so brightly, her joy radiating through the screen.
But he couldn’t get her out of his mind. Everything reminded him of her. She was always in his thoughts, no matter where he went or what he did. He saw her kissing him in his study, laughing with his siblings at family gatherings, and holding his hand during walks in the garden.
Lennox decided that he would work hard to win her trust again. He didn’t know what to do if Adrienne called it quits with him, but he was determined to fight for their relationship. There was no excuse for what he’d done to her father, but he was willing to do whatever it took to make amends and prove his loyalty to her.
He would strive to become the person she deserved, no matter how long it took. He would never give up on earning her forgiveness and trust. Lennox fell asleep that night, his thoughts filled with Adrienne. He dearly wished he could be with her once again.
The next day, he visited Adrienne’s grandparents’ house to see her. He bought a bouquet, feeling nervous as if he were going on their first date all over again. As he approached the front door, memories of their early days of marriage together flooded his mind. He remembered how Adrienne’s eyes lit up when he surprised her with flowers—how she would grin and pull him into a tight embrace.
Taking a deep breath, Lennox rang the doorbell and waited anxiously. When the door swung open, he was met with Adrienne’s mother, Rosemary. Her face softened as she saw him standing there, bouquet in hand.
"Lennox," Rosemary said warmly, "it’s good to see you."
Her kind words brought a small glimmer of hope to his heart. Maybe Adrienne was willing to give him a chance.
"I hope it’s alright that I stopped by," Lennox replied, his voice tinged with nervousness. "I wanted to see Adrienne."
Rosemary stepped aside, inviting him inside. As he entered the familiar surroundings of their grandparents’ house, Lennox noticed the absence of Adrienne’s lively presence. The once vibrant home now felt hollow and still.
"She’s in the garden," Margaret said softly, leading him through the house towards the back.
Finally reaching the garden, Lennox’s heart skipped a beat as he caught sight of Adrienne tending to her beloved flowers. She looked up, surprise evident in her eyes, as she saw Lennox standing there. The silence between them was heavy with unspoken words; the tension was palpable in the air.
"Len," Adrienne’s voice was barely a whisper, her emotions evident in her trembling voice. "What are you doing here?"
Lennox took a step closer, his heart pounding in his chest. "I came to see you, Adrienne," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I couldn’t bear being apart from you any longer."
Adrienne averted her gaze, her fingers nervously intertwining. "Lennox, it’s not that simple," she replied softly. "There’s so much pain and hurt between us."
"I know," Lennox admitted, his eyes never leaving hers. "I made a terrible mistake, one that I deeply regret. But I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make things right again. I love you more than anything, Adrienne. Please give me a chance to prove myself."
Adrienne let out a heavy sigh, tears glistening in her eyes. "It’s not just about me, Lennox," she whispered. "It’s about my family too. My father..."
Lennox lowered his head in shame.
"I couldn’t do anything to save him now," he admitted. "He’s also fighting to win some monetary gain."
"I’ve been thinking a lot about forgiveness," Adrienne continued, her voice filled with vulnerability. "About whether it’s possible to move forward from such betrayal."
Lennox took a step closer, his hand reaching out instinctively to touch Adrienne’s. "I understand if forgiveness feels impossible right now," he said, his voice gentle.
"But I promise you, Adrienne, I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you and your family. I will do whatever it takes to regain their trust and prove I am worthy of your love."
Adrienne searched his eyes, her own filled with a mixture of pain and longing. Lennox could see the struggle within her, torn between the love she still felt for him and the hurt he had caused.
"Lennox," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I need time. Time to heal; time to process everything that has happened."
Lennox nodded, a pang of disappointment tightening his chest. He had hoped for a quicker resolution, but he understood that healing took time—for both of them.
"But I admit it was also hard to be away from you." Adrienne continued, "I love you so much that it hurts when I think about what you’ve done behind my back. I want to trust you again, but rebuilding that trust will take time and effort from both of us. I need to see consistent actions from you that show me you are truly sorry and committed to changing. Only then can we begin to rebuild what we once had."
Lennox nodded, his heart heavy with regret. He knew he had caused immense pain and would do whatever it took to earn Adrienne’s forgiveness and rebuild their relationship.
"I’m glad you are willing to fix our relationship," Lennox said sincerely. "I understand it won’t be easy, but I promise to be patient and understanding throughout this process. I’m ready to prove that I can be the person you deserve."
Adrienne smiled at him and offered a hand. Lennox accepted and entwined his fingers with her. She pulled him under the massive oak tree, where they found Noah waiting for him. Noah’s face lit up as soon as he saw his older brother.
Lennox’s heart swelled with joy and apprehension as he saw Noah’s genuine smile. He had missed his little brother’s presence in his life, and it comforted him that Noah still held affection for him despite his mistakes.
Noah rushed towards them, his small legs wobbling as he stumbled into Lennox’s waiting arms.
"Nox! You’re back!" he exclaimed, wrapping his tiny arms around Lennox’s neck.
Lennox hugged Noah tightly, grateful for this little boy who had always looked up to him.
"I’m here, buddy," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "Did you behave well?"
"I did. I always make sure Mom isn’t alone." Noah reassured him.
Adrienne watched the heartwarming interaction between the two brothers, her eyes glinting with happiness. She stepped closer, her hand gently resting on Lennox’s back. At that moment, she realized forgiveness was about letting go of the past and embracing what could be.
Noah looked up at Adrienne with a curious expression.
"Are we going home soon, Mom?" he asked.
Adrienne smiled and patted his head.
"Soon, dear. Very soon." She answered.
Lennox and Adrienne exchanged glances, their eyes filled with hope and determination. As Lennox held Noah in his arms, he felt a renewed sense of purpose. He was determined to be the brother and role model that Noah deserved, to show him what it meant to be a man of integrity and love.
Adrienne squeezed Lennox’s hand, a tender gesture that spoke volumes. They both knew that the road ahead would not be easy, but they were committed to working and rebuilding what had been broken.
In the days that followed, Lennox remained true to his word. He showed Adrienne consistent actions that proved his commitment to change. He continued to visit Adrienne and his siblings at the Zhao estate, courting his wife all over again with small gestures of love and affection. He brought her favorite flowers, cooked her favorite meals, and even surprised her with handwritten letters expressing his deepest apologies and unwavering love for her.
Adrienne could see Lennox’s genuine effort in their relationship with each passing day. He took Noah on outings, spent quality time with Adrienne’s siblings, and actively participated in the family dynamics that had once felt so distant. Lennox was determined to prove himself, not only to Adrienne but to her entire family.
