Reborn with My Genius Husband-Chapter 86: You’re Blind, We’re Wearing Couple’s Outfits
Holly Winslow was in the living room doing her homework when she received a text from Mortimer Quincy that said, "Open the door." She froze for a second and glanced at Wyatt Winslow, who was reading the newspaper on the sofa.
Feeling a little guilty, she touched the tip of her nose and got up to open the door.
Mortimer Quincy was standing in the hallway, holding a bag. The sunlight shone into the corridor, casting a soft glow on the side of his face. His eyes were deep and held a hint of intensity.
He was so handsome it made her heart skip a beat.
’My husband is so handsome it’s unsettling,’ she thought. ’There’s a reason I get so fussy sometimes.’
She muttered to herself, then leaned her head against the doorframe and whispered, "Honey, what are you doing back?"
Ever seen a game of whack-a-mole?
That’s exactly how his wife looked right now—peeking out, all cute and adorable.
Mortimer Quincy couldn’t resist reaching out to pat her head. "The crispy fried pork at the hot pot place was good, so I brought some back for you."
He handed her the bag and added in a gentle voice, "It’s still warm. Don’t eat too much, or you’ll get indigestion. Got it?"
Hearing this, Holly Winslow’s eyes curved into a smile. She nodded obediently and pouted slightly. "Honey, you’re the best."
Mortimer Quincy leaned down and gave her a quick kiss, then chuckled. "Look at you, getting all touched. A little snack is all it takes to win you over. From now on, don’t accept things from anyone but your husband."
"I’m heading out. I’ll call you later. Remember to do the problems I gave you. I’ll check them tomorrow."
"Okay." Holly Winslow waved to him.
Wyatt Winslow had already heard Mortimer Quincy’s voice but didn’t get up. He saw Holly Winslow come back with the bag but didn’t say anything.
Holly Winslow opened the bag, and the aroma made her sniff a few times. She took out a piece of crispy pork and offered it to Wyatt Winslow. "Dad, try some."
"I don’t want any. You eat it." Wyatt Winslow wasn’t a fan of fried food and shook his head.
Holly Winslow moved the pork a little closer, her eyes full of expectation. "Dad, just have one piece."
This was the first time they had shared such an intimate gesture. Wyatt Winslow’s ears turned a little red. He reached out, took the piece of pork, and bit off a large chunk.
Holly Winslow took a piece for herself and started eating. It was delightfully crispy. "Dad, what do you think? Is it good? We should go to that hot pot place next time."
"If you want to go, we can go right now," Wyatt Winslow said, pulling out a napkin to wipe his hands.
Holly Winslow’s eyes lit up, but then she shook her head. "Didn’t you already buy groceries, Dad? I’ll cook dinner tonight. You can take me next week."
Seeing her shake her head while eating, just like a little kid, Wyatt Winslow’s expression softened. "Okay."
’Holly Winslow sees me as her dad now.’
’I have to do my best to be a good father.’
’Holly, I hope you’ll always be this happy.’
...
After dinner, she did some homework. Around eight or nine o’clock, Mortimer Quincy called. His voice was a little hoarse, as if softened by alcohol. "Wifey."
’He’s been drinking.’
Holly Winslow got up, locked her bedroom door, and interrogated him in a low voice, "Mortimer Quincy, what’s your wife’s name?"
Don’t be surprised; this was their routine post-drinking interrogation after several years of marriage.
Mortimer Quincy took off his sweatshirt, leaving him in a white short-sleeved shirt. He ruffled his short hair. "My wife’s name is Holly Winslow. She’s seventeen years old, and we’re deskmates."
He paused for a moment before adding, "Wifey, I only had half a bottle of beer. Not a whole one."
"So we don’t have to sleep in separate rooms."
After saying this, he let out a low chuckle. ’Even if we don’t, it’s pretty much the same as sleeping in separate rooms right now.’
’He’s not so drunk he’s incoherent, at least.’ Holly Winslow gave a satisfied "hmph" and decided to let him off the hook.
Then she remembered something and pulled out the math workbook next to her. "Honey, there are two math problems I can’t solve."
Hearing this, Mortimer Quincy stood up, left his bedroom, and grabbed his school bag from the sofa. "Is it the two long problems, numbers 2 and 3, in the math workbook?"
He’d paid special attention to those two problems when he did them; they were a bit difficult for Holly Winslow.
He sat on the sofa and said patiently, "Get your pen ready. I’ll explain them to you. If there’s anything you don’t understand, just ask me."
He spent about half an hour explaining the problems before they hung up.
...
「Saturday」
Given that his wife wasn’t exactly the obedient type, Mortimer Quincy thought for a moment and decided to go clothes shopping with Holly Winslow.
Holly Winslow couldn’t be happier. In their past lives, they both had to work, so the time they had to go shopping together was few and far between.
As for the rare moments they did manage to get together, most of it was spent on "exercise."
After their afternoon tutoring session, the two went browsing for clothes at the mall. Holly Winslow took a liking to three long dresses. After Quincy the Moneybags gestured to check that the length was appropriate, he bought them all for her.
A saleswoman glanced back and forth between them a few times, then smiled and tentatively asked, "We have a few styles of matching cartoon-themed couple’s outfits. Would you like to take a look? There’s a 100 yuan discount for any purchase over 900."
Hearing "couple’s outfits," Mortimer Quincy was very pleased. "Let’s see them."
The outfits were a set of light jackets with cartoon characters printed on them, perfect for people their age.
But Holly Winslow had never seen Mortimer Quincy wear such cute clothes. Her eyes darted around mischievously. She pointed to a set with a cute, pink cat head on them—the men’s version was black and the women’s was white. "We’ll take this one. Let’s try them on."
Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.
They went to separate fitting rooms. When Holly Winslow came out, Mortimer Quincy was already there. She immediately burst out laughing. The cute pink cat head on his chest made his aloof face look adorable.
The Aloof Quincy had become The Cute Quincy.
She covered her mouth, stifling a giggle. "Mortimer, it’s very cute."
Seeing her triumphant expression, Mortimer Quincy raised his eyebrow again and said meaningfully, "As long as you think it’s cute."
’I’ll go along with my wife now, so later my wife can "go along with" me.’
...
「Sunday. Jarton High. Four or five o’clock.」
Pantheon was playing a game on his phone and got thirsty. He put it down to take a sip of water, but when he inadvertently glanced at the two people walking in, he sprayed it everywhere and started coughing violently.
’HOLY SHIT!!’
Some of the water sprayed onto Zeke Zane’s face. He said, exasperated, "Pantheon, is your mouth leaking?!"
"No... COUGH... it’s... just look up." Pantheon felt like the pink cat head had blinded him.
Zeke Zane looked up. "..."
Meeting the gazes of her classmates, Holly Winslow tugged nervously at the hem of her jacket, regretting her decision. ’I knew I shouldn’t have bought it. This is a disaster for everyone involved.’
She hadn’t originally planned on wearing it to school, but that scoundrel Mortimer Quincy had threatened her, saying that if she didn’t, he’d come to her house and drag her out.
She quickly walked back to her seat and sat down.
In contrast, Mortimer Quincy looked perfectly natural, not at all embarrassed about wearing a shirt with a cute cat head on it.
Paul Powell was quite shocked. He couldn’t help but click his tongue. "No way, Mortimer. I can’t believe you’re into this style of clothing."
Zeke Zane and Pantheon both wanted to roll their eyes at him. In fact, they did.
’Can he seriously not tell they’re matching couple’s outfits?’
After receiving Mortimer Quincy’s "death glare," Paul Powell laughed loudly and corrected himself, "The matching sibling outfits look great! Super cute, hahaha."
Chase Hawkins ran over to join the fun, giving the outfit an exaggerated once-over. "Mortimer, you know what? That shirt really suits you. I bet no one else could pull it off, hahahaha." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Zeke Zane and Pantheon: "..."
’Those two need to get their eyes checked.’
No.
’We need to get our eyes checked, too.’
’Blinded by all this PDA.’
Mortimer Quincy gave them a cool glance and threw out a single sentence. "You’re blind. They’re couple’s outfits."
