Reborn with Infinity Money System, I was Worshipped by All Universes!-Chapter 268 - 265-Nikola, Is Your Mentor a Sovereign?
Inside the Hall of Magi, Velen spoke to the system with anticipation, "System, use one charge of the Fate's Trojan function. Help me locate Nikola's current whereabouts."
Having just returned to the fortress, he couldn't wait to track Nikola down. He was ready to go to him immediately.
Ding!
One use of Fate's Trojan function has been consumed. Nikola is currently located within the fortress.
The notification rang clearly in Velen's mind.
"…What?"
Velen froze in place, confused.
Nikola… is in the fortress?
His face was filled with bewilderment. He really hadn't expected that Nikola would already be here. When had this guy arrived?
—
At that moment, within the fortress—
"Monster! That guy's a bloody monster!"
"Not only did he forcibly raise his strength by an entire major rank with some terrifying skill, but even under our combined assault, he kept growing stronger as the fight went on. His wounds didn't slow him down—instead, they seemed to fuel him. In the end, he was overpowering the both of us! What kind of freak is this guy?"
Jerry stared at the blood-soaked youth across from him, disbelief etched into every inch of his face.
He had thought that two people joining forces to take down a lower-ranked opponent would be a simple task. Yet reality had come back to slap them hard.
"Damn it! That guy didn't even go all-out when he sparred with me last time!"
Steven gritted his teeth in frustration.
"What? You know him?" Jerry asked, shocked.
"Jerry, this is the guy I told Lord Velen about before—the combat genius Nikola!" Steven explained, his gaze complicated as he looked toward Nikola.
"No wonder he's ranked number one on the Rising Magi Rankings. His strength is truly terrifying!"
Although Nikola was covered in blood, his eyes gleamed with an uncontrollable excitement. He shouted, "What a fight! That was glorious!"
Just then, two figures appeared in a flash—Apollo and the Blackgold Sovereign.
They looked at the blood-soaked Nikola, their eyes flashing with shock.
"Fenrir bloodline!"
The two exclaimed almost in unison.
How could a bloodline like that appear in a low-plane universe?
Could it be that this kid was related to that man?
Apollo was just about to ask Nikola if he had any connection to the infamous battle maniac from the upper-plane universe, when suddenly—
Velen emerged from within the fortress.
"Lord Velen!"
Upon seeing him, Nikola's eyes lit up as if he had found his anchor. He shouted in excitement and rushed toward Velen like a child running to a parent.
"…He knows Lord Velen?"
Steven and Jerry were both stunned, exchanging looks of disbelief.
Never in their wildest dreams did they imagine Nikola would be acquainted with Velen.
"Nikola… what the hell is going on here?" Velen stared at Nikola, drenched in blood, then looked over at the battered Steven and Jerry. He was utterly confused. "Why were you fighting?"
"Lord Velen! They're the top two on the Rising Magi Rankings! I've been trying to track them down to challenge them for ages. I had no idea they'd be here, in your fortress of all places!"
Nikola quickly explained, his eyes still sparkling from the thrill of battle.
"Oh?" Velen's curiosity was piqued. "And how did you find their strength?"
Without hesitation, Nikola declared, "Weak! Pathetically weak!"
Velen was immediately intrigued.
"They're both one major rank above me, but I still beat them down. Sure, I enjoyed the battle, but I can't deny it—they're weak!"
"…Mentor… we've failed you." Steven and Jerry looked completely devastated. Their hearts were shattered. They turned their eyes to their respective mentors, full of guilt and unwillingness to accept this blow.
"You two shouldn't blame yourselves," Apollo said sternly. "The bloodline he carries is undoubtedly the Fenrir bloodline—a terrifying inheritance. There's a notorious battle maniac in the upper-plane universe with that same bloodline. Though that person's overall strength doesn't match ours, if we were to fight on the same rank… even if I joined forces with the Blackgold Sovereign, we might not win."
Hearing Nikola's brutally honest critique, Velen awkwardly cleared his throat.
After all, Steven and Jerry were allies. Nikola's words had been a bit… harsh.
Nikola then blinked in realization and turned to Velen, confused. "By the way, Lord Velen, why are they here?"
"Oh, those two middle-aged men in servant uniforms?" Velen replied patiently. "They're part of my fortress staff. Steven and Jerry are each the mentees of those two men. So yes, they're all on our side."
"Pfft—!"
Nikola froze.
Then, all of a sudden, he coughed up a mouthful of blood. His face went pale as a sheet.
The sudden change startled everyone.
"What's wrong?! Are you okay?" Velen was stunned, looking at him with concern.
Nikola coughed again and muttered weakly, "Lord Velen… I can't hold on anymore. Truth is, I've already reached my limit. Everything I said just now… was all for show. I just wanted to impress you!"
"In reality, those two were incredibly strong. If we'd kept fighting… I definitely would've lost!"
"???"
Everyone was stunned.

This reversal was too fast.
He suddenly went from a bloodthirsty war god to a dying man the moment he learned they were allies?
And those wounds that were healing at a visible rate didn't quite match the image of someone "unable to fight any longer."
"Jerry… I'm hurting…"
"Steven… stay strong, brother…"
With an arm around each other's shoulders, Steven and Jerry trudged off into the sunrise, their backs heavy with sorrow. All that remained was the lonely silhouette of two once-proud geniuses… utterly crushed.
"…Lord Velen, was my performance too real?" Nikola asked in a hushed voice, a bit nervous. "Did I go too far and end up demoralizing our own people?"
Velen burst out laughing.
"Nikola, they're all family here. You didn't demoralize anyone. In fact, I think this was exactly the kind of wake-up call they needed. Staying at the top of the rankings for so long probably gave them some dangerous arrogance. A little humbling might do them good."
Velen then switched topics, his tone shifting into one of curiosity. "But let's set them aside for now. Nikola, weren't you just at the Elite Rank Lv.9 peak not long ago? How did you suddenly break through all the way to Titan Rank Lv.9 in such a short time?"
"Lord Velen!" Nikola's tone turned solemn. "Not even my father knows the truth about this. I wasn't planning on telling anyone. But since you're asking, of course I'll tell you!"
He lowered his voice, speaking with a hint of secrecy. "Actually, I've taken a master—a powerful one. My mentor… is from the upper-plane universe!"
"The upper-plane universe?" Velen's eyes sparkled with interest. He leaned in and asked eagerly, "Nikola… is your mentor a Sovereign?"
He wasn't asking to steal Nikola's mentor or anything. Honestly, he just wanted the chance for that upper-plane expert to personally train him.
