Reborn with Consumption System-Chapter 480 - 225: Scoring a Top-Tier House for Free
The formal part of the dinner party ended at 10:30 p.m.
Han Lie didn’t attend the less formal second half. In any case, before leaving, he had seen Old Zhang with his arm around a model, heading upstairs.
There were private rooms upstairs in the Huangpu Clubhouse. Perhaps Old Zhang just wanted to sober up a bit. As men, we should all understand, especially since Panzi also went up... sigh...
Brother Lie shook his head, feeling like his upstanding self didn’t quite fit in with these old men.
Forget it, I’ll leave with a clean conscience!
Just as he was leaving the hall, Yue Xiu and Lü Shuli happened to bump into him.
"President Han, are you heading back?"
"Yeah." Han Lie nodded. Observing their slightly flushed faces, he casually asked with concern, "How are you two? You haven’t drunk too much, have you?"
"I’m fine." Lü Shuli’s gaze was clear.
"I’m okay, too," Yue Xiu quickly added.
Brother Lie nodded slightly. "Alright then, I’m off. You two should head home early as well."
"Okay."
Both beauties were very well-behaved and didn’t make the improper request to be escorted home—of course, that might also have been because they were together.
Since they didn’t mention it, Han Lie was even less likely to bring it up.
One must know the limits of currying favor. What’s the point of trying to woo two friends at the same time? Even more so, doting on two friends who seem close but actually have a very superficial relationship is thankless work. The correct strategy is to neglect one and be warm to the other. But since both women were equally beautiful, it was tough to choose, so it was better to treat them both coolly. At the very least, I shouldn’t be too proactive.
However, just as Han Lie was about to step away, Liang Wu, who was waiting nearby, suddenly suggested, "Boss, it’s not easy to get a taxi from here. Shall I give them a lift?"
SWOOSH. Both girls looked up simultaneously, their eyes brimming with hope.
Han Lie’s heart stirred, but instead of agreeing outright, he asked, "Is there room in the car?"
Liang Wu responded calmly, "I haven’t been drinking, so I can drive. Cheng Shi can find his own way back; that will leave just enough room."
"Okay, that works." Brother Lie nodded coolly, then smiled at the two of them. "Let’s go. I’ll see you two home."
Lü Shuli and Yue Xiu, dropping their pretense of composure, quickly agreed, "Alright, we’ll just go grab our things."
The group arrived at the parking lot. Cheng Shi got out of the car, dumbfounded, as he watched Liang Wu take his driver’s seat.
"Sorry to trouble you, Cheng Shi," Liang Wu said. "Bring the receipt to me for signing tomorrow."
"Sure, Assistant Liang."
Cheng Shi was incredibly frustrated inside, but he could only nod respectfully, now clearly understanding who called the shots.
Han Lie sat in the passenger seat, watching this scene with appreciation. Liang Wu’s small suggestion was like killing at least three birds with one stone.
Firstly, she said what I found inconvenient to say, creating an opportunity for me, the boss, to continue interacting and chatting comfortably with the two beauties. Her making the suggestion, versus me taking the initiative, were two entirely different things. Secondly, she effortlessly put driver Cheng Shi in his place, establishing her own authority and drawing a clear line: ’I’m the primary person serving the boss, and you’re just my subordinate. From now on, report everything to me diligently, or I can have you dismissed in a minute.’ Lastly, she once again demonstrated her emotional intelligence and capability to me—attentive and considerate down to the smallest detail. She hadn’t made much of a presence the entire evening, but a light, casual remark before leaving immediately maxed out her indispensable attribute. A monthly salary of fifty thousand? Is she worth it, I ask you! She’s an incredible bargain; I even want to keep her by my side forever. Pleasing to the eye and comforting to the soul—the absolute cream of the crop.
Lü Shuli and Yue Xiu hadn’t realized all these subtleties; they simply felt that Liang Wu was an incredibly nice person.
So you see, there’s indeed a difference between one clever person and another.
"President Han, which way should we go?" Liang Wu asked as she buckled her seatbelt, once again creating an opening for the boss.
Understanding her intention, Han Lie replied with a smile, "Let’s drop them off first. Lili, Yue Yue, you two decide quickly."
Yue Xiu and Lü Shuli immediately exchanged glances. Then, Lü Shuli took the initiative to invite, "Yue Yue, your dormitory will be locking up soon, right? Why don’t you stay at my place tonight?"
This instantly thwarted all of Yue Xiu’s subtle plans.
No one knew what Yue Xiu was truly thinking, but she responded with an elegant, light smile, "Won’t that be too much trouble for you?"
"Of course not! We’re sisters~~~"
"Good sister," my foot! I’ll "thank" your ancestors for eight generations! Yue Xiu thought.
She then nodded lightly. "Okay then, I won’t stand on ceremony."
Lü Shuli was overjoyed and immediately gave Liang Wu the directions to her place. Her rented apartment wasn’t far from the Huangpu Clubhouse; at a slow pace, the drive would take about fifteen minutes.
Along the way, Han Lie chatted briefly with the two of them. The conversation wasn’t profound, nor did it touch on personal matters, but the atmosphere was quite relaxed.
Straightforward guys might not understand the point of this.
Every private interaction with a colleague of the opposite sex, especially one you work with, carries meaning. Simply put, it’s about dispelling the sense of distance inherent in a professional atmosphere. If you don’t take the initiative to break the ice, a respectable woman will maintain her composure and won’t approach you about personal matters—the exception being those women who are actively cultivating backup options.
So, some oblivious guys might have a great time chatting with female colleagues at work, thinking, Our relationship is amazing! My chances are huge! No need to rush, I’ll just wait and see! Then, after work, they glue themselves to their computers and phones. Half a year later, they’re suddenly dumbfounded to find out their female colleague has a boyfriend.
What happened? How could she do this to me? Was she playing me?
Such self-assured young men remain single purely due to their own cluelessness; they truly deserve it.
Remember, no matter how well you chat at work or how many jokes you share, it often just means you’re considered "a fairly interesting colleague."
