Reborn with Consumption System-Chapter 475 - 223 Goodbye, don’t mess with me!_2
"Don’t look at us, we might seem rich, but compared to banks, aren’t we just a purely disadvantaged group?"
Things are completely backwards...
As God Lie mulled this over, a sudden urge to laugh bubbled up.
"Brother Cai, your luck is honestly not that great. If this had matured before June this year, I reckon the bank would have dared to offer you a 12% interest rate on a fixed deposit..."
"Oh my! Isn’t that the truth!"
Brother Cai’s eyes lit up, and he gave Han Lie a thumbs-up, saying, "Teacher Han, you really know your stuff!"
His Level 4 in Economics wasn’t achieved for nothing. With such a major event this year, how could he be unaware of it?
Back in June 2013, the country experienced the worst cash crunch in its history. Interbank lending rates in the Magic Capital soared sky-high; money was extremely tight.
Back then, if a wealthy tycoon had approached a bank with ten billion to negotiate a term deposit, the desperate banks would have dared to promise anything.
Once the contract was signed, one could simply lie flat and relax.
But since that time, a series of effects gradually emerged, leading to many chain reactions.
Brother Cai’s money maturing next year and his inability to secure a high interest rate were just one of those consequences.
Han Lie felt sorry for Brother Cai, but he was powerless to help.
"Brother Cai, it’s not that I’m unwilling to help, but we can find money at a lower cost. An 8.5% rate is too high for this project."
Brother Cai was a bit disappointed, but he didn’t press Han Lie further.
"Alright, if it works, it works; if not, then forget it. This money belongs to our whole family. If we really can’t find a place to invest it, then we’ll just keep it in the bank. Hey, isn’t there a deputy director of SPD Bank over there? Teacher Han, would it be convenient for you to introduce me?"
HA! Who says a straightforward man can’t be cunning?
He’s quite the clever schemer!
Han Lie chuckled inwardly, but his demeanor remained enthusiastic. "No problem, let’s go. I’ll take you over to say hello!"
So, Han Lie took Brother Cai to meet Director Huang and helped with the introductions.
In fact, with Brother Cai’s capital, the head of SPD Bank’s Magic Capital branch would have personally received him if he had approached them directly.
But when Chinese people do business, it’s all about personal connections.
Getting acquainted privately, building rapport, and leveraging personal relationships for public matters often yields better results.
Han Lie stood with them for three minutes before quietly retreating and returning to Panzi’s side.
Panzi, who had clearly seen everything that transpired, grinned and asked, "What’s up? Got your eye on Old Cai’s money?"
"Public-to-public projects aren’t that interesting."
Han Lie shook his head, then joked, "But if he personally lent me five hundred million, that wouldn’t be too bad..."
Panzi’s eyes widened. "You sure dare to dream! Using your head as collateral?"
Han Lie smiled cheekily. "My head is worth way more than five hundred million. The problem is, few people recognize its value."
"Cut the crap! Just focus on your market and maintain your current momentum. By the end of next year, you should have almost made your five hundred million!"
Panzi cursed jokingly, then suddenly gestured with his chin to the side.
"Hey, what’s with that girl over there? She’s been sneaking glances at you all evening. Did you flirt with her?"
"Who?"
God Lie was puzzled. He looked in the indicated direction and caught a pair of eyes looking his way.
As their eyes met, the girl turned her head away as if she’d received an electric shock.
Why is it her?!
God Lie was baffled for a moment, then it suddenly clicked.
That does seem to be her style...
Han Lie spread his hands innocently, distancing himself. "I’ve only said two sentences to her: ’Hello,’ and ’Nice to meet you.’ How would I know what’s going on?"
In truth, it didn’t matter whether he explained or not. Panzi wasn’t taking it seriously at all.
"That girl’s an entertainer, right? TUT TUT, so beautiful! Little Lie, you can’t handle these little starlets who are desperate for fame. You should just focus on Pan Ge..."
"So?"
God Lie’s eyes widened as he retorted forcefully, "So I should hurry up and scram, leaving her for you to hit on?"
"COUGH! COUGH!"
Even with Panzi’s thick skin, he was flustered enough to cough a couple of times.
"What are you blabbering about? I am so devoted to your Auntie Zhao... The occasional dalliance is just to rekindle marital affection!"
Panzi was a truly interesting guy and easy to get along with—reliable too. When something needed doing, he really stepped up!
Han Lie also loosened up; it was impossible to stay serious around Panzi.
"Never mind that. Since I’m supposedly ’unfaithful’ to Pan Ge, I’d better go check out what’s happening myself!"
Panzi smacked his lips, seemingly a bit regretful, but didn’t really press the matter. He just casually reminded Han Lie again.
"Playing around is one thing, but you need to be clear about who you’re ultimately going to end up with. Given our relationship, if you don’t marry Pan Ge, it’ll be hard to justify..."
What relationship do we even have?
Damn it, isn’t this just too damn messy?
God Lie was holding back a sarcastic remark, unable to spit it out, feeling incredibly frustrated.
He endured and endured, finally finding an opportunity to strike back a little.
"Fine. If you don’t mind, Xi Luting and I will start calling you ’Dad’ together later on..."
This was a statement of his position, and also an implicit promise.
Anyone normal would understand this to mean Han Lie couldn’t bear to let Xi Luting go but also wanted to marry Pan Ge, right?
But Panzi’s expression suddenly changed, and he asked anxiously, "My boy, tell me the truth. Are Xi Luting and Pan Ge having more fun together than with you? Do they play by themselves and not like you touching them? Otherwise, it just doesn’t make sense! With two beautiful girls like that right there, if you’re not interested in them, why are you always eyeing the ’little flowers and weeds’ outside?"
The mighty God Lie was completely stumped by Panzi’s question.
But, if you followed his logic, well damn, it actually made perfect sense!
Anyone would see it that way...
Han Lie found it impossible to answer. He didn’t even care anymore that Panzi was getting one over on him; he just waved his hand and quickly made his exit.
