Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine-Chapter 1199: Daily Life
Zhong Wenjuan entered the kitchen and took a look around; everything here was newly organized, and all the supplies were brand new. It was clear that Qin Zhiyuan was also a person with a cleanliness obsession.
There was rice, flour, cornmeal, and millet. It was apparent that someone had informed him about this.
There was also a large barrel of bean oil and various seasonings. There was a complete set of pots, pans, bowls, ladles, and spatulas.
"We have everything we need. There’s no problem with us having meals, except we’re lacking vegetables."
"The vegetables are in the cellar; the supply and marketing cooperative sent me twenty heads of cabbage and some radishes."
"Oh, and there are vermicelli, tofu skin, and a big chunk of meat and eggs in the box in the storage room."
"It’s quite complete. Well, then we just need a thermos bottle."
"Alright. I’ll go buy one."
Qin Zhiyuan drove away. Zhong Wenjuan continued tidying up; this should have been done today, as the furniture was pretty clean.
She didn’t know much about furniture, but it looked decent and had a classical charm.
When she got to Qin Zhiyuan’s study, she quickly backed out. This wasn’t a place she should enter; she decided to let him tidy it himself.
Qin Zhiyuan also bought back wash basins, soap, towels, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.
Upon returning, he saw smoke coming out of the kitchen chimney.
He placed the toiletries in the washing area. Following the salesperson’s advice, he cleaned the thermos before filling it with hot water.
The two thermoses looked quite festive, with bright red magpies perched on branches.
Zhong Wenjuan made steamed cornmeal buns, a recipe she had learned.
The cabbage was stewed with vermicelli below. The taste was very ordinary, but as they sat together eating, the atmosphere felt different.
For the first time, she had made too little food, but at least it was cooked.
Neither of them was fully satisfied, but that’s how it was; they finished all the vegetables and were full.
After the meal, "I didn’t tidy your study; will you do it yourself, or should I help?" This question needed to be clearly understood.
"I’ll tidy it myself, but you can enter freely. I won’t bring my work home, so don’t worry."
Their department dealt with substantial secrets, so they wouldn’t bring unfinished work home.
"I’m going to sort my luggage," she said, as her bags had been directly loaded into the car that morning.
"Alright, I’ll read in the study. Call me if you need anything." They had been given a three-day holiday, and this was only the first day; Qin Zhiyuan felt quite bored, thinking about tidying up his dormitory after returning to work.
There was no use in keeping the dormitory, better to hand it over since many needed a place to live.
Zhong Wenjuan had two large packs, containing only two sets of clothes; the rest were supplies.
Most were books. Earlier, she found several empty rooms and decided to tidy up one as a study, which was convenient.
The whole afternoon passed with neither of them disturbing the other, each reading their own book.
Over at Zhang Chunsheng’s place, the situation was similar. Mainly because Liu Xiaoting and Zhong Wenjuan grew up together, their habits were very alike.
What Zhang Chunsheng prepared was also quite complete, though it couldn’t be said he prepared it all; it was his secretary and a few others who did.
In the evening, both couples felt very uneasy. Men were generally more proactive in this aspect than women.
After the intimacy ended, Qin Zhiyuan realized this was what all men liked. It was fine; at least he wouldn’t have to handle this impulse on his own in the future.
He wasn’t as impulsive as the young ones, but there were still several times that night.
Initially, Zhong Wenjuan could cooperate with him, but later she really couldn’t continue; despite being healthy, such matters weren’t just about physical health.
In the end, Qin Zhiyuan laughed; it was quite different indeed.
With Zhang Chunsheng, the two of them were more in harmony. Almost forty years old, he finally experienced such a sensual feeling.
He felt a sense of security finally, and from now on, being a family man meant he had to consider things more thoroughly.
The next day, their interaction differed from the previous day. Though the changes were minor, neither had noticed yet, but they certainly existed.
After their three-day vacation, Zhong Wenjuan went to see Liu Xiaoting.
Since childhood, they had been together and were very familiar with each other. They could tell with one look that something about the other was different.
"How was it?" they asked in unison, then laughed.
"It was okay, very clean, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to stand it." Zhong Wenjuan commented.
"Zhang Chunsheng was quite alright too. As we became more familiar, he talked more, and did the household chores."
"The same here; he went to work today, making me feel relieved. I’m going back to arrange my study, I won’t enter his study."
"The same here; I set up mine the day before yesterday."
"I didn’t, afraid of affecting his work. If I don’t make some noise at home, there wouldn’t be any sound throughout the day."
After their chat, Zhong Wenjuan headed to the supply and marketing cooperative to see what vegetables were available, even buying some pickles would be good.
Otherwise, endless cabbage might tire out the distinguished individual. Watching him eat felt painful; it seemed there were really picky eaters.
She needed to inquire more on how to cook. It was roughly one or two meals per day, but since she cooked, she should do it well.
After the morning meeting, Qin Zhiyuan was called over by Zeng Zhenqing.
Noticing no changes in Qin Zhiyuan, Zeng Zhenqing sighed, "How’s it going? Harmonious?" He felt like an old father who was worried about such matters.
Qin Zhiyuan felt a little embarrassed being asked.
He nodded, "It’s alright."
"Cherish it well, you’ll understand later."
"I will."
Thus, after clocking off in the afternoon, he didn’t work overtime but went to tidy up his dormitory, having lived there for over ten years; he had already treated it as home.
Initially, he thought there weren’t many items, and upon tidying realized there were indeed quite a lot, enough to fill a whole car.
When he arrived home, Zhong Wenjuan had just finished cooking dinner, seeing how many things he had.
"Why don’t you eat first?"
Qin Zhiyuan didn’t refuse, "Alright, I didn’t expect to have accumulated so many things over ten years. I’ve never really paid attention before."
After the first month of the lunar year passed, the air turned into the breath of spring.
On the day of the second of February, several of them ate together, and today the cafeteria was well-prepared with dumplings, rice, and pancakes.
"Today is indeed a good day," Lu Chengmin exclaimed.
"The symbolism is good. Old Zeng, how are the two doing?" Xu Guozhi asked.
"I don’t know either, and can’t chase them for answers."
Zheng Wenqiang and Lu Chengmin both laughed; indeed, it wasn’t something to inquire about.
"Old Xu, just let it go, Xiao Hir won’t agree."
"Ah, it’s really troubling; who knows what he truly wants? When he returns, I must have a good talk with him." Xu Guozhi sighed.
