Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 347 How Long Are You Going to Drag Gong Chen Down?
Chapter 347: Chapter 347 How Long Are You Going to Drag Gong Chen Down?
When the gun was pointed at Lin Zhiyi once again, she immediately stood up and retreated a few steps backward.
She pleaded, "Miss Ren, don’t do this, you don’t need to ruin yourself for someone else."
Ren Xiya, holding the gun, approached Lin Zhiyi, a hint of redness slowly crawling into her eyes.
"Of course you can say that! You have Third Young Master to block everything for you, and Mr. Sang to comfort you. I only have my mom, and if she had been terrible to me from the start, I could give her up, but she truly protected me with sincerity."
Lin Zhiyi actually understood Ren Xiya’s emotions. In impenetrable predicaments, the closer the person, the more they are a lifeline.
How could she persuade Ren Xiya to give up?
The next second, Ren Xiya’s gun was pressed against Lin Zhiyi’s forehead.
Lin Zhiyi gasped and remained motionless, watching the person in front of her.
Ren Xiya said lightly, "Let me tell you one more thing. He didn’t tell you about my identity to protect me, but because he didn’t want you to be involved anymore."
"Saying all this is also to repay him for helping me without holding grudges, and thank you for shielding me the last time you treated me to dessert. All my life, nobody has ever shielded me like that."
Lin Zhiyi was stunned.
Whilst extremely scared, she felt it was unfair for Ren Xiya.
In her confusion, she seemed to see a man’s figure slowly approaching.
Only when his face became clearer, did she realize.
He really came.
Gong Chen.
Lin Zhiyi’s initially panicked heart gradually calmed down, yet in an instant, it was tumultuous and beyond control.
Gong Chen, seizing the moment when Ren Xiya was emotionally unstable, raised the dagger in his hand and twisted it around her wrist, blood dripping down.
Ren Xiya’s hand trembled, and the gun fell to the ground, and she was pushed onto the sofa.
Gong Chen pulled Lin Zhiyi and ran outside.
He didn’t want to put Ren Xiya in a deadly situation.
But under Mr. Gong’s control, Ren Xiya had already lost her sanity; regardless of her bleeding wrist, she crawled and scrambled to pick up the gun from the ground and fired recklessly at Lin Zhiyi.
Lin Zhiyi, out of the corner of her eye, just took a glance and extended her hand to push Gong Chen, but he pulled her into his arms.
Bang!
Lin Zhiyi’s body trembled, and the man held her even tighter.
But as she regained her senses, he let her go.
"You go out first."
The man’s heavy breathing fell on Lin Zhiyi’s ears, and even though he lowered his tone, she sensed something was off.
She immediately turned around and saw Gong Chen kneeling on the ground, his body against a concealing cabinet door, one hand covering his waist, blood dripping onto the cartoon rug through his fingers.
The smiling cartoon instantly became stained with blood red and turned menacing.
Yet he said expressionlessly, "It’s just a scratch. You go out and wait."
Lin Zhiyi clenched her fists, really wanted to just leave like this.
But tears still fiercely fell down one after another, and she grabbed his arm to help him out.
Gong Chen pushed her away, his voice cold, "I said it’s nothing. She is emotionally unstable now, I’ll cover you as you go out."
Lin Zhiyi tightly clutched his arm, each word deliberate, "You can’t even lie."
His dark eyes slightly knitted, and he summoned a pale, weak smile.
Lin Zhiyi heard approaching footsteps and pulled out from the cabinet the grocery folding cart Sister Zhou had left at her place.
Gong Chen immediately raised his hand signaling her not to rush, then silently counted down with his fingers.
When he counted to one, Lin Zhiyi swung the cart against the back of the cabinet door.
The already injured Ren Xiya had no defense and was struck squarely, falling to the ground.
Lin Zhiyi quickly helped Gong Chen to run out and slammed the door shut.
After entering the elevator, Lin Zhiyi finally dared to breathe a sigh of relief.
She turned to check Gong Chen’s injuries, meeting his watching gaze.
Under the white light, his complexion was pale as cold jade, with strands of hair hanging over his forehead, appearing lonely and fragile.
He raised his hand towards Lin Zhiyi’s cheek, but before touching her, his hand seemed to lose strength and heavily fell.
His whole body then collapsed onto Lin Zhiyi’s shoulder.
Lin Zhiyi’s hands trembled as she embraced him: "Wake up, don’t die, we still haven’t settled our accounts..."
With a ding, the elevator doors opened.
Chen Jin was bringing people inside when he saw the bloodstains on the ground and immediately stepped forward to support Gong Chen.
"Where is she?" Chen Jin asked.
"Upstairs." Lin Zhiyi, her hands covered in blood, responded blankly.
"I’ll handle the rest, go to the hospital first."
Chen Jin made a signal with his eyes to the two people behind him.
The two quickly entered the elevator to go upstairs.
...
Hospital.
Lin Zhiyi stood disoriented in the corridor, the blood on her body already dried and sticking tightly to her skin.
Chen Jin handed her a wet wipe.
"Miss Lin, please wipe it off."
"Thank you."
Lin Zhiyi’s voice was hollow, and she mechanically wiped the blood off her hands.
Chen Jin watched her, wanting to say more but hesitated, "Third Young Master has been downstairs, he saw the medicine box you threw down and knew something happened to you. He was afraid that too many people going upstairs would cause alarm, so he went up alone."
Lin Zhiyi still kept her head low, but her vision was becoming increasingly blurry.
She had seen the notice from the property management yesterday.
Workers have been maintaining the lawn downstairs for the past two days, so dropping objects from heights was prohibited, otherwise they would be held accountable.
Lin Zhiyi deliberately found an empty box and threw it out the window.
The workers saw it and would definitely inform the property management; as long as they came upstairs, she would still have a chance to survive.
But what she didn’t expect was that, adhering to the principle of minding their own business, the workers simply threw the medicine box aside.
It was Gong Chen who saw the words Lin Zhiyi had written on it, determining she wouldn’t throw things from a height if nothing were wrong.
Seeing her silent for a long time, Chen Jin’s eyebrows knitted tightly, somewhat indignantly, "This is the second bullet he took for you! Don’t you have anything to say?"
Lin Zhiyi looked up, tears breaking free: "Then tell me, why did he save me? And why can he marry someone else so calmly?"
Chen Jin clenched his fists, some words still left unspoken.
A moment later, Lin Zhiyi wiped away her tears and regained composure, "Where is Miss Ren?"
Chen Jin pursed his lips, and truthfully said, "Someone is watching over her, waiting for Third Young Master to wake up before deciding."
Lin Zhiyi nodded.
Just after their conversation, Li Huan came out of the operating room.
He pinched the corners of his eyes, looked wearily at Lin Zhiyi whose complexion was very pale, and comforted, "He’s fine now, if the bullet had veered a bit more, we’d be laying out a feast right here."
Lin Zhiyi knew Li Huan was deliberately trying to make her smile.
She opened her mouth, but her throat felt as if it were choked up.
Li Huan understandingly patted her shoulder, "He’s out, you can escort him to the ward."
As he spoke, Gong Chen was wheeled out.
Lin Zhiyi reached out her hand, wanting to touch the person in front of her, but was suddenly pushed aside by an unexpected impact.
"Third Young Master! Third Young Master! How are you?"
Sang Ran arrived.
She looked resentfully at Lin Zhiyi and then held Gong Chen’s hand with tearful eyes, both of their wedding rings shining prominently.
Lin Zhiyi turned her face away and kept backing off.
Eventually, she followed to the ward but was blocked outside by unfamiliar bodyguards.
"Miss Lin, Mr. Gong would like to see you."
Lin Zhiyi dodged the bodyguard, but as soon as she turned around, she was ruthlessly pushed into the adjacent ward.
She was pushed into the room.
In the room filled with the smell of disinfectant, Old Mr. Gong stood by the window, hands behind his back, his expression stern and severe.
Lin Zhiyi stood straight, facing Mr. Gong.
She thought he would say she was lucky to survive such a difficult ordeal.
But instead, he said just one short sentence that left her speechless.
"Lin Zhiyi, how much longer will you continue to drag Gong Chen down?"
