Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 328: She Was Fired
Chapter 328: Chapter 328: She Was Fired
Late at night, inside the car.
Chen Jin and Li Huan watched the figure approaching under the streetlights, wishing they could just floor the accelerator and leave.
Outside the car, Zhou Zhao, clad in leather from head to toe, stood under the neon lights, his commanding presence had the girls on both sides of the road snapping pictures in awe.
The key thing was that he also flamboyantly waved his hands.
Chen Jin’s face was half-shrouded in darkness.
Li Huan held his forehead: "I shouldn’t have suggested inviting him."
Moments later, Zhou Zhao rested his hand on the car door and leaned in to knock on the window.
Chen Jin rolled down the window, his voice icy: "Don’t you understand the concept of keeping a low profile?"
Zhou Zhao grinned: "Cool, right?"
A textbook example of a snappy but irrelevant reply.
At that moment, Li Huan pointed ahead.
"He’s coming out."
Chen Jin looked up, and a glare of murderous intent flickered in his eyes as he saw a man, flanked by beauties on each side, getting out of a luxury car.
He was about to get out himself, but Zhou Zhao blocked him.
Zhou Zhao raised an eyebrow: "You call me over and still let you guys take action? Just watch me."
Closing the car door, Zhou Zhao turned around with a cigarette between his lips and walked over.
Just a glance from him was enough to distract the women in the man’s arms.
The man was immediately annoyed, he grabbed Zhou Zhao and dragged him into a dark alley to teach him a lesson.
As Zhou Zhao entered the alley, he gave a signal to the two men in the car.
Chen Jin and Li Huan approached the alley from different directions.
This place belonged to a bar street, where drinking and brawling were commonplace, hence why nobody would bat an eyelid even if they saw or heard anything unusual.
Ten minutes later, the man lay on the ground, his mouth full of blood, imploring as he looked up at Chen Jin for mercy.
"Assistant Chen, I was wrong, please spare me."
"I was the one who brought you to Third Young Master’s side. Now that you’ve betrayed him, it’s only right that I see you off."
"No, no, I... my parents are sick, I urgently needed the money, I didn’t want to be involved in the strife anymore," the man said in agony.
"Urgently needed money to splurge in bars? Third Young Master has never treated us unfairly; you betray him just for this bit of cash?"
Chen Jin clenched his fists until they cracked.
But before he could strike, Zhou Zhao broke the man’s ribs with a kick.
"All this nonsense, just beat him to death."
The man struggled to breathe from the pain and seeing Zhou Zhao serious about dealing a fatal blow, he stopped begging for mercy, biting down hard: "I’m Mr. Gong’s man, you can’t do this to me."
Zhou Zhao found this amusing: "All of us work under someone else, what makes you think a wily old fox like Mr. Gong would employ someone whose loyalty can be bought with money?"
The man was stunned.
Zhou Zhao patted his cheek: "Come on, punch me a few times to vent for Brother Chen, don’t worry, I won’t let you die, see how considerate I am to have prepared a doctor for you."
Li Huan, carrying a medical kit, stepped forward, checked his pulse, and examined the broken ribs.
He clicked his tongue: "Can’t kick here anymore, switch sides, you can take another ten minutes, then he’ll pass out. The ambulance will most likely arrive in twenty minutes, with a margin of five, he should end up crippled. Even if not, it’s highly likely that the broken ribs will puncture the kidneys, causing renal dysfunction... not too good."
Chen Jin and Zhou Zhao’s gaze shifted downwards, looking at the man in between.
Zhou Zhao timed: "Eight minutes left, aren’t you going to hit him?"
A man can’t be beaten to death, after all, he’s the only one who can prove Gong Chenqing’s innocence.
Chen Jin looked down condescendingly at the man.
Upon hearing that his condition wasn’t too good, which was even worse than death to him, the man immediately raised his hand in surrender before Chen Jin could act.
"I have information to exchange."
Chen Jin withdrew his fist: "What information?"
The man took a breath and continued: "The deal between Wen Qing and Mr. Gong..."
After listening, the three men exchanged glances, and Zhou Zhao knocked the man out.
Li Huan did a final examination of the man’s body to ensure there was no substantial evidence left before standing up: "You guys go back first, let Mr. Sang and Third Young Master decide what to do with the rest."
"Okay."
...
Two days later.
Lin Zhiyi sat in a daze, pale-faced, with her phone lit up, displaying her chat history with Xue Man.
She had been fired.
But it was she who had taken the initiative to resign.
Someone was maliciously manipulating public opinion over the forged admission email incident, severely affecting the studio.
Although Lin Zhiyi and Xue Man had both guessed who had posted the video.
Apart from Ye Feifei, no other colleague knew the reason for her finger injury.
But once explained, Xue Man would offend the Ye Family.
Lin Zhiyi understood Xue Man’s predicament, so she took the initiative to resign and asked Xue Man to issue a statement.
At this moment, a hand reached over and took her phone away.
"Stop looking at that." Sang Li sat down beside her.
"I’m fine." Lin Zhiyi smiled and changed the subject, "Why did you come over at this time? Have you eaten?"
"About to go eat. I happened to see a newly opened dessert shop on the way, and I remember you mentioned wanting to try it, so I bought some for you to taste."
As soon as Sang Li finished speaking, Zhou Zhao handed over a bag.
Lin Zhiyi thanked him, opened the bag, and started tasting.
"Are you going to a social engagement?"
"Sort of, Old Mr. Gong invited us over for dinner," Sang Li responded truthfully.
Lin Zhiyi’s hand clenched the dessert tightly, causing it to crumble onto the table, her complexion gradually paling.
Old Mr. Gong really couldn’t wait.
The moment she was fired, he invited the Sang Family over for dinner, his intentions obvious without saying.
He probably wanted to strike while the iron was hot and have Sang Li break up with her.
Only when she had nothing could she live up to Old Mr. Gong’s words of ’she had it coming’.
In a daze, Sang Li pulled out a tissue and wiped the crumbs off her fingers.
"Don’t worry, it will be okay soon."
"Yeah. You should go," she said.
Lin Zhiyi continued to eat as if nothing was wrong.
After Sang Li left, she stared blankly out the window until the dessert in her hand melted, then she snapped back to her senses in a panic.
Instinctively, she tried to lift her other hand to wipe it, but the next second she stared in shock at her immobile right hand.
She started to cry with a bit of collapse.
Completely unaware that someone was watching her from outside the door.
That pair of deep, dark eyes drooped slightly, hiding the emotions at the bottom of the eyes.
The door was gently closed.
Seeing this, Chen Jin looked at the dessert bag in Gong Chen’s hand.
"Third Young Master, aren’t you going to deliver it? Didn’t Miss Lin post on her social media that she wanted to eat it?"
"Let’s go."
Gong Chen clenched the dessert bag tightly and walked away.
...
Inside the private room.
The two families had just sat down, and the tea in their cups had barely been sipped, when Old Mr. Gong began to probe.
"Young Master Sang, I’ve heard about what happened with Lin Zhiyi. Don’t take it too seriously," he said.
Wen Qing glanced over the Sang Family and said nonchalantly, "Lin Zhiyi really, even after being with Sang Li, still seeks those empty honors. As the saying goes, the less one has, the more one tries to flaunt. It’s good that it was exposed this time; otherwise, Sang Li would have been implicated later."
Everyone looked towards Sang Li.
Even Gong Chen’s gaze towards him contained an inconspicuous chill as if he would not be able to leave this place if he misspoke a single word.
Sang Li smiled as he brushed at the tea leaves in his cup and said lightly, "Indeed."
Just as Old Mr. Gong was about to nod, Sang Li added another sentence.
"Indeed, I don’t care much about these things."
