Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 134: Did He Do It?
Chapter 134: Chapter 134: Did He Do It?
Lin Zhiyi struggled as she sensed a familiar presence.
But the arm around her waist tightened, almost forcefully pulling her into the man’s chest, causing her entire back to burn with heat.
She could even clearly feel the rise and fall of the man’s chest with his breaths.
Each one made her feel an inexplicable fear.
Suddenly, a domineering voice sounded beside her ear, "Who let you come alone? Do you really think you can walk out of here?"
Lin Zhiyi tugged at the arm around her waist, resisting, "Uncle, when did you start living by the sea to be so nosy? Let go of me!"
Behind her, the man’s breathing deepened, but he offered no rebuttal.
The next second, Lin Zhiyi’s body was suddenly released, and she immediately tried to run, but she was still a step too slow.
The man pulled her over and threw her directly onto the sofa.
Just as she was about to react, she was firmly pinned down by him.
Underneath the serious suit, every inch of the man’s muscles was tight and rigid, heavily pressing down on her, making it difficult for her to breathe.
To make things worse, his breath fell entirely on her face, igniting a scorching heat.
She tried to lift her hand in resistance, but Gong Chen pressed it beside her ear. In her struggle, the torn sleeve almost completely fell off, exposing her bare shoulder.
Today, she was wearing a sky-blue pleated off-shoulder blouse with dark jeans.
Such blouses have rather wide sleeves, and with the tear, one could almost see her undergarments beneath.
Humiliated, she tried to pull her sleeve back, but with every movement she made, the large palm pressing on her emitted a faint power, with a scorching heat ironing her skin.
"Did he do this?"
A low, magnetic voice full of icy anger emanated, his narrowed eyes dangerous, swirling with an undeniable possessiveness.
Lin Zhiyi’s breathing halted, she bit her lip tight, her body still trembling from her escape from Chen Hongwei’s clutches.
Gong Chen looked at her slightly pale lips and frowned, "Where’s your jacket?"
"Lost it."
Lin Zhiyi did not elaborate on how it was lost.
She frowned slightly, nausea striking her as she recalled what Chen Hongwei had done to her. How could a relative who was so cheerful in her previous life harbor such filthy thoughts towards her...
Her body turned cold, suppressing a shiver.
"Cold?"
The man’s tone was somewhat husky, his approaching eyes resembling those of a leopard, profound and dangerous.
Before Lin Zhiyi could speak, a burning palm landed on her waist skin.
Caught off guard, a low moan escaped her throat, unable to stop what was already happening.
The man in front of her narrowed his eyes, heavy breaths falling.
Lin Zhiyi’s breath hitched her as her body began to heat up beneath his palm.
Suddenly, a flurry of footsteps and Chen Hongwei’s cursing could be heard from outside the private room.
"That damn woman must have run this way, catch her and I will make sure to teach her a lesson!"
Hearing this, Gong Chen lifted his eyes, a dark and threatening aura gradually enveloping the entire room.
The footsteps grew closer and he released Lin Zhiyi, helping her to straighten her blouse.
Lin Zhiyi quickly sat up, straightened her body, and was about to fix her sleeve when a jacket landed on her shoulder.
She looked up to see Gong Chen had matched a white shirt with a pure black vest that day, its fitted cut emphasizing his figure to perfection, broad shoulders over a narrow waist.
At that moment, Gong Chen coldly commanded, "Go sit at the table."
Puzzled, Lin Zhiyi nonetheless stood up and sat at the table.
Gong Chen sat down as well.
Almost simultaneously, the door to the private room was thrown open.
Upon seeing the person in front of him, Chen Hongwei’s face lost some of its anger and he replaced it with a smile, "Third Young Master, what a coincidence."
Gong Chen leisurely served himself soup, replying indifferently, "Mr. Chen in a hurry? Hungry?"
Chen Hongwei’s eyes darted around as he stood with hands behind his back, "Yes, I am indeed hungry, but the food I ordered never reached me, so annoying, right? When a person is starving, they’re capable of anything."
As he spoke, he glanced at Lin Zhiyi beside him, his words laden with threat.
Gong Chen placed the soup bowl in front of Lin Zhiyi and then wiped his hands with a hot towel before turning to face Chen Hongwei.
"Mr. Chen is not wrong; a starving person is indeed capable of anything. But if one eats the wrong thing, it can be fatal."
"..."
Chen Hongwei’s face turned ashen, realizing Gong Chen was not going to let things slide.
He didn’t want to butt heads with Gong Chen just yet, so he took a step back.
"Thanks for the reminder, Third Young Master. I won’t disturb you two any further. I’ll be taking my leave now."
With that, he left the private room.
Lin Zhiyi let out a sigh of relief, clutching the spoon in her hand and sneaking a glance at Gong Chen.
"Uncle, what are you doing here?"
"Just happened to come by for a meal," Gong Chen said expressionlessly.
Lin Zhiyi looked down and noticed two sets of bowls and chopsticks on the table, assuming he must have had a meeting with someone.
She put down the cutlery and quickly stood up, "Then I won’t bother you, Uncle. I’ll go ask the waiter for a new set of cutlery."
Gong Chen frowned, looking displeased.
By then, Lin Zhiyi had already taken off the jacket.
"Keep it on," Gong Chen ordered.
Thinking of the large tear in her blouse, Lin Zhiyi felt no inclination to defy him.
"I’ll wash it clean and return it to you. Bye."
Without waiting for Gong Chen to speak, Lin Zhiyi had already left the private room.
Gong Chen watched the door slowly close and called out to the outside.
"Chen Jin."
Chen Jin quickly walked to Gong Chen’s side.
"Find out what’s going on."
"Yes."
...
On her way back to the studio, Lin Zhiyi received a threatening message from Chen Hongwei. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"Lin Zhiyi, I mean what I say. Think carefully. I’m waiting for you at the banquet. Otherwise, you know my methods."
After reading it, Lin Zhiyi pressed her throbbing temples.
Upon returning to the studio, Shen Yan came rushing over with concern, "Zhiyi, I heard from a colleague that the sapphire is in trouble, what are we going to do?"
Heard from a colleague?
Lin Zhiyi pondered for a few seconds then feigned a dismal face.
"Shen Yan, what do you think we should do?"
Without thinking, Shen Yan blurted out, "The missing gemstone is worth millions; how would I know what to do?"
Hmph.
Lin Zhiyi sneered. She had never said the sapphire was lost.
It seemed that this incident was not unrelated to Shen Yan.
Pretending to hang her head in dejection, Lin Zhiyi lamented, "Indeed, it’s hard on you. I will go and report to President Xue."
As soon as she entered President Xue’s office, she intended to start explaining the situation.
Who would have known that Xue Man would slam a file folder down on the desk violently.
"Lin Zhiyi! You should be scared; you must take responsibility for this. The studio cannot shoulder any part of it for you!"
Startled by the loud noise, Lin Zhiyi stared at Xue Man for a few seconds before regaining her composure and hastily explaining, "I will definitely handle it well."
"As long as you understand," Xue Man declared loudly.
Outside the door, Shen Yan, who had been eavesdropping, wore a smile on her face.
Even Xue Man wasn’t willing to help Lin Zhiyi; it seemed she had run out of options.
There would be a good show to watch at the banquet.
