Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 1081: Someone Helped Chu Wu
Lin Zhiyi and Xingxing, who is abroad, are on a video call.
Xingxing propped up her little face and yawned.
"Mom, where’s Dad?"
"He’s here."
Gong Chen handed a cup of hot milk to Lin Zhiyi.
Xingxing looked at her parents and covered her mouth to giggle.
"Dad, you have to take good care of Mom, okay?"
"Yes, my lady." Gong Chen looked at Xingxing dotingly, "Feeling sleepy? Then go to sleep. Mom and Dad will watch over you as you sleep."
Xingxing was indeed tired, given the time difference between the two countries.
Lin Zhiyi leaned on Gong Chen’s shoulder, watching Xingxing’s eyelids droop before her breathing became steady.
She looked at her daughter through a mother’s loving lens, her eyes full of joy.
"So cute, really so cute. Just want to give her a kiss."
Lin Zhiyi touched the screen.
The next second, Gong Chen grabbed her face and turned her around.
"She’s growing more and more like me now. Can’t kiss her, but you can kiss me."
Lin Zhiyi almost spat out the milk.
She joked, "Without the identity of the Third Young Master, have you removed some kind of seal?"
Gong Chen gave her a quick kiss, "Have a look."
"Stop it. The milk’s spilled." Lin Zhiyi raised her hand to block.
"Let me take care of it for you."
Saying this, Gong Chen turned off the video call and carried Lin Zhiyi towards the bedroom.
With that, half a day passed.
Lin Zhiyi lay on the bed and noticed many messages on her phone.
"Zhiyi, I joined the crew."
"Good luck, I’ll come to see you in a couple of days."
"Okay, actually I have another matter to discuss with you. My mom called me saying that Chu Wu asked her for half a million; she’s worried Chu Wu owes money outside."
"Your mom?" Lin Zhiyi found it a bit strange.
Mrs. Chu’s mind is always filled with Chu Wu. How would she tell Chu Yin about Chu Wu’s news?
Chu Yin explained a bit.
"My parents’ shop had a tenant leave due to road construction, and over the years the rent has been wasted on Chu Wu. My dad is critically ill and is currently relying on my mom’s savings and the money I send back for treatment."
The daughter they looked down on the most has now become their lifeline.
Earlier on, Lin Zhiyi had mentioned that the Chu Family parents were the most selfish people in the entire family.
Now they’re only acting friendly, hoping Chu Yin would treat them a bit better.
Chu Yin will certainly provide the money, being a public figure avoids leaving a handle for gossip.
Lin Zhiyi, "Are you trying to have me keep an eye on Chu Wu?"
"Yes, you still remember Chu Wu’s cosmetic surgery, don’t you? She’s got so many procedures, plus the maintenance, which definitely can’t be done with just tens of thousands."
"Indeed, I specifically asked Li Huan to inquire from his acquaintance, a plastic surgeon. Your sister should have spent no less than a million; she doesn’t seem like someone who saves money, probably gathered some by selling gifts given by those men."
Lin Zhiyi speculated.
But that money surely isn’t enough.
Those men have indeed been generous to Chu Wu, but unfortunately, Chu Wu doesn’t know the goods; she only recognizes common-branded items.
Some of these things depreciate immediately after purchase.
Being in such a hurry to sell, she can’t get a good price, and the remaining money can only be borrowed.
Borrowing people are much like gamblers, and when pushed, they might do anything.
"Zhiyi, sorry to trouble you."
"No problem, I’ll keep an eye on it for you, you focus on acting."
"Okay."
Chu Yin sent a kissing emoji.
Lin Zhiyi smiled, and the man behind her came over.
"Lin Zhiyi, who are you spending your days with? Worrying so much about her and Sang Li."
"Isn’t it because I’m afraid some people are always jealous? But the Chu Wu matter is really a ticking time bomb." Lin Zhiyi said.
Gong Chen leaned against the pillow and said, "There’s no news yet about Chu Wu; someone must have helped pay."
"Bai Hui?" Lin Zhiyi immediately thought of this person.
"Yes."
"Really strange, it’s been so long, and Bai Hui hasn’t surfaced at all; I always feel like what’s in front of us is just fog, the real danger is yet to come." Lin Zhiyi said seriously.
Gong Chen looked at her, "What are you planning to do again?"
Lin Zhiyi sat upright, "I want to investigate President Bai’s background. Know your enemy as well as yourself."
Gong Chen hooked her hair, "Go ahead."
With Gong Chen’s support, Lin Zhiyi immediately picked a few Hai City socialites from her clients.
But after some screening, there were still too many people.
The main reason being Lin Zhiyi wasn’t familiar with Hai City’s relationships.
Gong Chen glanced a few times and pointed out three names.
"Those three."
"You know them?" Lin Zhiyi asked curiously.
"Had meals with their husbands, figured some things out. One is henpecked, and once time passes, gets checked in on. One is a gossip, often testing others with hearsay. One is a self-made man, clearly taught by a woman: likely his wife."
"So these people are all men’s helpful wives." Lin Zhiyi understood Gong Chen’s intention.
...
In the afternoon.
Lin Zhiyi asked Chen Jin to contact these three wives and then booked a high-end restaurant with good privacy for afternoon tea.
To show class, Lin Zhiyi even found a tea master and a Chinese pastry chef in advance.
After the restaurant arranged everything, the atmosphere in the private room suddenly had the ancient charm of Jing City.
Once the lakeside window was opened, the breeze gently blew in, pairing with the tea and refreshments, it easily allowed one to relax.
The three ladies, upon arriving, viewed Lin Zhiyi with fresh admiration.
"They all say President Lin is good at business, and they’re absolutely right."
"You ladies are too kind, it’s what I should do, a good environment lets us discuss matters well."
Lin Zhiyi smiled, inviting the ladies to sit down.
After sipping some tea, Lin Zhiyi didn’t rush to talk about Bai Hui.
Instead, she introduced some jewelry according to each lady’s characteristics.
Each piece was unique, and the ladies cheerfully paid.
The one who loved gossip laughed, "President Lin, why did you suddenly invite us over?"
Lin Zhiyi feigned embarrassment, "We’ve chatted so much, I feel a connection with you three, so I’ll be frank—I’m looking to expand my business."
She candidly revealed her purpose, causing the gossip-loving lady to be at a loss for words.
Gossipers enjoy digging for gossip most, and with Lin Zhiyi stating her purpose, she could only gaze in amazement.
This move, however, intrigued the other two ladies.
But they were more cautious, merely smiling without intending to speak.
Lin Zhiyi wasn’t in a hurry, refilled their tea.
She looked at the henpecked lady, noticing the ring on her finger, showing a look of envy.
"Madam must have strong feelings for her husband."
"Why do you say that?" She asked curiously, looking at Lin Zhiyi.
"I’m sensitive to jewelry; your ring has many scratches and is a simple style from years ago, clearly a token of love from the early days of your marriage."
Lin Zhiyi had heard from Gong Chen.
This lady and her husband started from scratch, and their journey wasn’t easy.
But the world full of temptations easily leads one astray, either for the long-standing relationship or the significant benefits between them.
She wouldn’t mind being the bad guy herself and would never let her husband stray even half a step.
