Reborn: The Return of the Villainous Mr. Liu-Chapter 1251: Brownie treats
Ai sniffled, returning to her team’s side. "I lost."
"What do you mean?" Jing gasped. "Was kitchen the wrong answer?"
"It was the right one but Jun found our blue envelope, and he took it away from me."
Everyone - "..."
Jin threw a dry grimace at his sister. "Sis, weren’t you saying something about how we will sabotage Team Red’s game? We were knocked out in the first round itself. I told you we shouldn’t bother about stealing their riddles."
Nuo cleared her throat righteously. "How could you be so rude, Jin? I only did what I did for our team’s victory!"
"Because you sweet-talked Dad into revealing Team Red’s first answer," he snorted. "Then you sent sister-in-law to steal it, who clearly was the wrong person."
Ai - "..."
"How was I supposed to know if Jun was going to come to the kitchen!"
"Yes, that was a problem because you got seduced by him," he sneered.
"I did not!" Her nostrils flared. "My heart was as steel as it could get."
"Say that to your flushed face."
Zhou Yichen hugged her. "My dearest daughter, I will avenge you! Do not worry when Papa is here."
Jin’s brow twitched. "And how are we going to avenge without our second riddle? We need to get to the next location before Team Red cracks our next riddle and steals another envelope."
But with the current envelope gone, there was no way to find out the next location.
Chyou clapped her hands. "This is the perfect time for our little fairies to show up!"
And so were summoned Ailun and Ziyi for imparting their fairy guidance upon them, carrying Jun-kun and Ai-chan in their arms. The two cats comfortably rested as if they had made their arms their home.
Chyou cleared her throat, and her voice dropped to a grim whisper. "We are in peril, dear fairies."
Ailun nodded. "Yes, you are. Your riddle was stolen!"
Ai wiped the corner of her eyes. "So cruelly by your father."
Jin’s brow twitched.
"We need your help. We have no way of knowing our second riddle’s answer if we don’t have the riddle itself. Please shower your guidance upon us. Please give us a hint of the next location."
Nuo took out some sweet candies and grinned. "Aunt here will also give you lots of sweet candies."
Lin stared at them and back at her. "I thought bribing was supposed to be cheating. But the host herself..."
"This is for our team’s survival! Nobody will know if we keep our mouths shut."
"We are breaking all kinds of rules here," Jing grinned. "I like it."
Ziyi was about to grab the candies when Ailun pulled her back, flaring his nostrils.
"Fairies are honest, Aunt! We won’t give in to candies!"
She pouted. "Not even if I add pastry into it?"
This time, Ailun faltered a bit but he quickly wiped the drool off his lips. "No, no, no! Fairies don’t give in to sweets!"
"Aiyaa, don’t be so harsh on yourself. Come here," Liu Chunhua waved her hand, pulling them on her lap. "Look, I made some brownies for everyone."
Out of nowhere, she magically took out a bag of cookies and unwrapped it. Everyone was sure that she carried no such thing, yet here it was anyway.
Lin blinked rapidly. "When were you carrying brownies?"
"Oh it was from the beginning, dear," she beamed heartily. "I thought everyone would get hungry with all the hunting."
"Delicious!" Jian had already gobbled up two brownies.
"Hey, leave some for us!" Jing glared.
"Don’t crowd like that. I have made enough for everyone," she harrumphed.
Everyone gathered around Liu Chunhua, who looked like the perfect, adorable grandmother, the kind around whom an entire village naturally gravitated. Her eyes twinkled with joy and happiness.
"Grandma is the best!" Chyou sniffled emotionally as she took a bite of the brownie.
Ailun coughed, scraps of brownie stuck around the corner of his lips. "Th-This doesn’t mean we are bad fairies!"
Xing Bi leaned forward and grinned. "We know, we know. We just thought you would enjoy some treats. But our fairies are super honest and brave! Definitely the best fairies!"
Ailun and Ziyi’s chests puffed up hearing the compliments.
"So, so, can you give us a hint of the next location?"
Ziyi showed her magic wand with a completely serious face who had completely stepped into her fairy role.
"Lost soul, butterflies will lead you the right way."
Jing licked his fingers. "Butterflies? Don’t we see butterflies in the garden?"
"You must hurry to wherever that place is," Ziyi neither agreed or disagreed with his guess, but she did say, "But Dad is already there."
"..."
"I must depart at once before he snatches away our second envelope too!"
Nuo hugged her. "Sis, we are all relying on you! Please come out victorious!"
"And drown Nuo’s evil gangster plan to wipe out the team beforehand," Jian twinkled, happily egging on his sister.
"Say another thing Bro and I will go on a long vacation. Then you figure out your workload in Natsukashi."
"..."
"Aish sister, why do you get so offended?" He pouted. "Can we not even pull at each other’s legs anymore? I mean, clearly this was your fault."
Liu Chunhua smacked upon his head. "Oof, enough of this. It’s all just a game anyway. Don’t be so harsh to Nuo."
"Grandma..." Nuo cried and jumped to hug her.
On the other side, Chyou and Zixin reached the garden, standing behind a pillar.
"Why am I here?" He blinked.
"Because we are on the same team and we need more hands on the deck to get our precious envelope back! Look, look!"
They followed the path of the butterflies that fluttered their beautiful wings under the sunlight in the distance. The sight just below them made Chyou gasp.
"They are already here!" She dragged Zixin back to their hiding place. "Look, Yating is here as Ziyi said, but Guiying is also here. They are looking around the flower pots..."
She looked up and found Zixin’s gaze beaming with joy.
"Hey. Don’t forget that we are on different teams. Don’t you dare betray our team for your wife! This would be the ultimate test for your loyalty! So come with me and follow my lead~"
