Chapter 1082: Family first, yes, family first

Alix wished she could grudgingly eat her dinner but it was so delicious that it melted away her grievances and Jin completely went out of her view. But then the sight of Jin having his own dinner was all very clear to her.

"Why are you eating here?"

"Shouldn’t I have dinner with my wife?" He smiled.

It irked her. "Your family is downstairs."

"You are also part of the family now."

"I want to have my dinner alone."

"Let’s just say we are having our own dinner in our own space."

Her gaze darkened. She didn’t like this. Jin’s intentions were clear to her. She wasn’t too comfortable with family dinners but neither could he see her cooped up all alone in the room as if she was a stranger.

"It’s good this way. I have had enough of Grandpa stealing my food."

She said nothing and ate her food in silence.

"Mom cooked today’s dinner."

She stiffened. She looked at the empty bowl which had held soup until a minute ago. She had almost licked it clean.

"She will be very happy to get the feedback," he smiled again.

"She doesn’t have to take the trouble for me," she bitterly said.

The food was delicious without a doubt but undeserving for somebody like her.

Jin shrugged. "You can try telling that to her but Moms’ hearts are built differently. She will feed you until your stomach explodes."

A mother’s heart huh...

Thinking about Zhan Kai-Ming, she wondered where her heart lay when she gave up on her life and left an eleven years old girl to fend for herself.

It was then after dinner that a very important question arose for Jin. He saw Alix comfortably settled on the bed in her night pajamas, which he was very satisfied about but he wondered if her comfort level would change if he were to share the same bed with her. His heart couldn’t help but race.

I shouldn’t make it too difficult for her...

He took his pillow and walked his way to the couch when he heard, "Where are you going?"

He stiffly turned, tapping his fingers on the pillow. "Sleep on the couch."

Alix frowned. "Is there something wrong with the bed?"

The corner of his lips twitched. "...Nothing is wrong with the bed."

"So?"

Her cluelessness only left him more dumbfounded. "I thought...you would be uncomfortable with us sharing the bed."

The implication then dawned upon her but she didn’t look too fazed by it. "Why would the owner of the room sleep on the couch?"

He frowned, dissatisfied with her tone. "Don’t say owner. It’s your bedroom too."

"Which is why we share everything half-half. Half bed space and half wardrobe space - unless you want to break your back."

She shrugged and went back to reading her book, leaving Jin at a total loss.

Wait, so...she is okay with us sleeping together?

I mean obviously not that kind of sleeping together, just normal sleeping together.

His head hung low with his heart in chaos. He slowly sat on his side of the bed, staring at her to catch any tiny fleet of a reaction on her face. But apparently it seemed that only his heart was in the rollercoaster ride with this proximity.

Alix looked up from her book again and squinted her eyes. "What?"

Not even a little bit? Even a tiny flutter? Jin couldn’t help but question himself.

Sure, the women around him always fawned and squealed about his handsomeness just like with his other brothers but at this moment, he felt his self-confidence dwindling. Jun-kun was poking on his pitiful head from the top of the pillow.

Maybe I’m really not that handsome enough...

He cleared his throat.

Not that I am looking for her to fall for me right away. She needs to fall for my family first.

Yes, family. Family first.

He pulled the duvet over his head as he laid down at the extreme corner. Alix wasn’t used to real life romance but even with her limited knowledge of a marital relationship, she had her own fair sense of judgment.

Huh....

Compared to Jin and quite surprisingly, Alix had a great sleep despite it being her first day at the Liu villa. She stretched her arms and yawned when her blurry gaze noticed some obstruction near her bed. She fully opened her eyes slowly, only to find the four kids huddled up and overshadowing her, watching her with curious eyes.

"Pastry aunt!" Their arms happily flailed up. "Good morning!"

She blinked twice. "...Morning. What are you all doing here?"

"Waiting for you to wake up," Ailun chirped with his sunny countenance.

"Why?"

"So that you can teach us essays!"

The other three nodded in unison.

Alix did remember that she was asked by Ai four months ago to teach essay writing to the kids but she hadn’t expected for the kids to remember.

Her eyes narrowed.

Or maybe she reminded them...

Yina brightly said, "Pastry aunt, pastry aunt, it will be fun! Lots fun!"

These kids are so dedicated to studying huh, she arched her brow.

For some reason, Alix felt a gaze - a very strong gaze - also an accusing kind of a gaze from a certain direction. She glanced at the door but found nobody.

Was I imagining that?

Yina climbed on the bed and upon Alix, giggling and rolling over her body as if it was a toy to play with.

"Pastry aunt, then we play ogami!"

"Ogami? You mean to say origami?"

She nodded with zest. "Mama taught me to make pretty things with paper!" Her eyes then sparkled. "I want to make pretty paper with pastry aunt! I make a ring for pastry aunt!"

Alix felt that surge of a certain chill and gaze once again as if it seemed to bore holes into her. She took a look and this time caught a silhouette zapping out of her sight with lightning speed.

Is that Jin? Why is he stalking us in his own room? She grimaced.

Alix gestured a ’shoosh’ sign to the kids to which they earnestly obliged by putting a finger on their lips. She stepped out of the bed, approaching the door noiselessly. Folding her arms, she waited.

The head of that stalker silhouette was slowly creeping back into view and his body jolted with a shocked spasm upon finding Alix already watching him.

Alix blinked twice.

That’s not Jin.

"Dada!" Yina raised her arm from the back.

"Yina!!!"

Nian immediately shed his hiding place and brightened upon his daughter’s call.
