Reborn into the 70: Turning Adversity into Her Dazzling Path-Chapter 44: Eavesdropping
Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Eavesdropping
Gu Juan returned the clothes and even apologized to her, not knowing how Wang Meili had spoken to her.
However, the clothes were missing two buttons.
Those buttons were pink ones Grandma Yao had specifically matched for the clothes to look good.
The buttons Gu Lingling could find were all black, and if she sewed them on, the clothes wouldn’t look as nice as before.
After dinner, Gu Chunhai took Gu Lingling out.
Gu Lingling didn’t know what he wanted to do, but whenever she thought about how Guodong had taken her away in her past life and Gu Chunhai hadn’t even looked for her, she felt distant from him.
The reason she currently showed some affection towards Gu Chunhai was simply because she was too powerless in this household.
Before dealing with Wang Meili, she had to let Gu Chunhai see the true nature of Wang Meili.
Of course, if after realizing the truth, Gu Chunhai remained indifferent or wanted her to endure grievances to maintain family peace.
Then she would have to consider the worst plan.
As they walked to the old willow tree at the end of the village, Gu Chunhai wanted to pull out a cigarette from his pocket but refrained upon seeing his daughter beside him.
"Back then, it was right there where I met your mom." After a long pause, Gu Chunhai looked into the distance emotionally, pointing with the cigarette in hand, "See that crooked-neck elm tree? Right there."
His gaze was indescribably gentle, as if recalling something beautiful, truly sweet.
Gu Chunhai really loved Yao Ruanqian.
"Lingling, don’t worry. Daddy won’t let them bully you anymore." Suddenly, Gu Chunhai turned toward Gu Lingling and said resolutely.
"I’ve already applied with the factory to only handle transportation within the province in the future," said Gu Chunhai, "but this year’s tasks are almost entirely scheduled, so it might take a few months to adjust."
"Don’t be afraid, during these months when I’m driving, I’ll take you to your grandpa’s house, and pick you up when I get back." Saying this, Gu Chunhai felt somewhat guilty.
His son had been raised in the Yao Family from a young age; he didn’t fulfill his responsibility of upbringing, and now even pushed his daughter away.
But it was the best solution he could think of for the moment.
Gu Chunhai having this realization, had already exceeded Gu Lingling’s expectations, "Okay, thanks, Daddy."
Little did he know, the more sensible she appeared, the more it made Gu Chunhai feel guilty.
"Daddy is sorry." Gu Chunhai said choked up.
In his heart, he repeatedly emphasized that he must treat his daughter better, much better, and never let anyone bully his daughter and Yao Ruanqian’s daughter again.
Gu Lingling wasn’t aware of Gu Chunhai’s thoughts, and she never imagined that she had inadvertently turned him into a doting father.
Though the night was getting late, it was still a bit chilly, motivating Gu Lingling to rub her arms.
"Let’s go back." Gu Chunhai said, looking at his daughter, and draping his coat over Gu Lingling, "In the future, tell Daddy if anything happens. You shouldn’t have to endure it, Daddy will support you."
"Okay." Gu Lingling smiled sweetly.
Does this mean she could openly contend with Wang Meili and her daughter in the future?
After the father and daughter had left, a figure finally jumped down from the willow tree, smirking at the direction in which they departed.
If Gu Lingling were here, she would surely be very surprised.
Why would a certain person, who should still be in the city, be in their village?
And eavesdropping!
