Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space-Chapter 959 - 953: Discount_1
Chapter 959: Chapter 953: Discount_1
Nangong Shulan chuckled at her husband’s exchange with the customer. She didn’t have any particular objections to the discount. After all, it was just for this one time, so she remained silent and resumed her work after taking the rolling pin from her husband’s hands.
Usually, some of their customers were not particularly affluent, so they would refrain from ordering too much. But with the discount, they were happier and more willing to order an extra portion after finishing their current meal. Nangong Shulan, thought for a moment and had Qin Lei bring them an extra bowl of porridge. Everyone was overjoyed and pledged to continue patronizing their business in the future. Customers were like that. Any small discount would elate them, leaving a positive impression and a desire to return for the pleasant interaction, service and discounts.
On the flip side, they would be less inclined to return to places with bad service where they felt like they were walking on eggshells. No one likes to feel obligated to spend money somewhere while being denied respect. Even if they made a purchase once, they would not return. That’s why businesses are better off offering small discounts and showing kindness to customers, rather than taking advantage of them and showing sour faces, because it’s ultimately business owners who stand to lose more.
“Dad, have my sister and the others mentioned when they would be arriving?” Qin Jiale asked her father after all the customers had left.
“According to your brother-in-law’s telegram, they wouldn’t be here until tomorrow evening with the night bus. How could they arrive so soon?” Qin Lei, noting his daughter’s impatience, chuckled. His daughter had been eagerly helping at the shop ever since school let out for break. Though they had told her to stay at home and do her homework, she always insisted on helping out. They couldn’t convince her otherwise, so they allowed her to help, figuring it would also serve as good practice. They didn’t want their daughter to grow up to be a bookworm, did they?
“Well, I suppose I can wait one more day. Now, what should I prepare for my two little darlings?” said Qin Jiale excitedly, her thoughts fixed on the two little ones of their family. They were younger than her, which meant she was no longer the youngest. The thought alone made her happy.
Qin Jiale echoed the sentiments of many youngest children in families in this era – always feeling that being the youngest was a disadvantage, hence, no one wanted to be the youngest.
“Alright, let’s get ready to clean up. If not, we’d be swamped later. Lele, go and check when your uncle and the others are leaving. If it’s too late, we won’t wait for them today. We have to go home and tidy up your sister’s room and the rest of the house. We have to clean up for the new year.” This year, Nangong Shulan and co had spent most of their time running the business, leaving Grandma to tend to the house. Now that their siblings had decided to start their own businesses, they couldn’t rely on Grandma for help anymore, apart from asking her to feed the pigs at noon.
So their house hadn’t been tidied up yet. Now, with their eldest daughter returning, they needed to start their big clean-up for the New Year.
“Sure, Mum, will we continue with the business tomorrow or will we close for the day?” Qin Jiale asked her mother.
“Of course, we’ll continue with the business. After we close for the day, we’ll go straight to pick up your sister and the others. The fact that your sister is bringing a lot of stuff for you and they’re bringing the kids from so far away, we certainly need to go and pick them up at the station,” Qin Lei quickly replied before his wife could, knowing his daughter was bringing the kids and couldn’t handle the luggage on her own.

“Alright, I got it. I’m off to see Uncle.” With that, Qin Jiale dashed off.
