Reborn In the Apocalypse: My Hotel Has Unlimited Supplies-Chapter 105: Extraordinary Measures
Some people, no matter how nicely you talk to them, won’t listen. For such people, you have to use extreme measures.
Hearing Chu Jiangyue’s words, Shen Zhigui only took a moment to understand her intention. Initially, he was hesitant, but he quickly made up his mind, adjusted the direction, and stepped on the gas pedal.
The distance to that family was getting closer, yet Shen Zhigui still didn’t take his foot off the accelerator.
Other members of the convoy also saw Shen Zhigui’s actions, and many of them felt their hearts leap.
That family, seeing the silver SUV about to crash into them, had expressions change from arrogance to panic and fear.
There was no time to say anything; everyone ran to the side of the road on their own.
Shen Zhigui drove straight through, with no sign of braking along the way.
Behind him, Song Chengjun and others quickly drove on, following closely behind Shen Zhigui as that family retreated to the roadside.
The family blocking the road cursed and swore, but even Song Chengjun ignored them now.
Having already shown them the way out, yet they continued to pester, they couldn’t blame them for being cold-hearted.
If they had seriously listened to Song Chengjun, they could have left the highway and headed north, and with some luck, might have found the Jianglin Hotel.
"Boss Chu, did you anticipate they would dodge?"
Lin Xuyuan looked at Chu Jiangyue with admiration, thinking she was incredible.
"Of course not, if they hadn’t dodged, getting hit would be their fate."
It’s the end of the world; so many people die every day, a few more wouldn’t make a difference.
These people were relying on Captain Song’s kind-heartedness, thinking he wouldn’t do anything to them, so they dared to be arrogant.
But Chu Jiangyue wasn’t a pushover. If they dared to consider it, they should have been prepared to get hit.
Lin Xuyuan awkwardly closed his mouth. As expected, Boss Chu was much harsher.
"Do you think I’m cruel?"
Chu Jiangyue immediately saw what Lin Xuyuan was expressing on his face.
"No, no, I just felt they were still human lives, after all."
"Did you ever think about really letting them join our group? They have no resources; would you be willing to share your provisions with them?
A whole family, should we give them a car too?
If something happened along the way, should we protect them? In case of danger, for your own life, what if they pull someone else up to block zombies in an unguarded moment?
Have you considered these scenarios?"
In the apocalypse, human nature is the hardest to withstand testing.
Lin Xuyuan imagined the scenario and realized he was thinking too simply.
"She’s right; such a situation could definitely happen."
"I understand. I’ll be more careful in the future."
Lin Xuyuan realized he needed to be more vigilant in the future. Otherwise, someone might sell him out while he was still counting the money for them.
Everyone stopped dwelling on the issue, and the vehicles continued moving forward.
However, upon reaching a fork in the road, Shen Zhigui stopped and waited for Song Chengjun to make a decision.
The exact destination was only clear to Shen Zhigui.
Shen Zhigui did not disappoint, quickly driving up, using the scant information obtained via satellite phone, carefully judged before choosing a route.
No matter whether it’s right or wrong, once you go down the road, there’s no turning back.
This time, Song Chengjun’s car led the way, Shen Zhigui’s car followed behind, and Jin Chuyu’s group of six brought up the rear.
Due to the various roadblocks, a journey that would have taken just two or three hours stretched into six.
By the time they got off the highway, it was already dark.
After getting off the highway, there were no people around, so the group continued driving until they entered the city area and found a residential area to spend the night.
But due to the power outage, they couldn’t use the electric lights in the house, so they relied on car lights to move around.
Fortunately, after awakening abilities, everyone’s senses had somewhat heightened, so they had no major issues moving with the help of the car lights.
In fact, those with fire abilities could use the power in their hands for illumination.
Chu Jiangyue and Shen Zhigui’s group relied on Lin Xuyuan’s fire ability for lighting.
Worried that something might happen if they got separated, everyone agreed to set up tents in a big household’s living room to sleep together.
To make traveling outside comfortable, everyone had basically bought essential travel tents.
Those without could share a tent with someone they knew well.
Chu Jiangyue set up a tent with help from Shen Zhigui and the others. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Shen Zhigui placed Chu Jiangyue’s tent in a corner against the wall, then put their five tents around it, very effectively protecting Chu Jiangyue’s tent in the inner part.
Chu Jiangyue secretly gave Shen Zhigui a thumbs up for this behavior, recognizing him as a gentleman who knew how to protect girls.
Soon, everyone had finished setting up their tents, and Song Chengjun began arranging for dinner for the night.
Indeed, they had skipped lunch to rush down the highway and hadn’t had dinner yet.
Though it was late, filling their bellies was a top priority in the apocalypse.
Though the group ate in small teams, Chu Jiangyue ate with Shen Zhigui and four others.
Others generally ate in their respective teams.
Zheng Wen’an, not belonging to any team, thick-skinnedly joined Song Chengjun’s team.
Since it was his idea to initiate the trip, Song Chengjun couldn’t refuse, but to prevent any objections, he offered a dish of meat.
It’s something he bought at the Jianglin Hotel, planning to eat it on the road.
After eating and setting up the night watches, everyone returned to their respective tents to sleep.
Chu Jiangyue took her little tiger into her tent.
Night watches comprised two people per shift, with the first half of the night watched by Shen Zhigui and Jin Churan, and the latter half by Song Chengjun and Zheng Wen’an.
The arrangement resulted from no one wanting to partner with Zheng Wen’an, so Song Chengjun had to sacrifice himself.
The first half of the night passed uneventfully.
When it was time to switch shifts, Song Chengjun got out of his tent on time, but Zheng Wen’an was nowhere to be seen.
"You’re alone?"
Shen Zhigui glanced behind Song Chengjun but didn’t find Zheng Wen’an.
"I’ll go call him."
Based on Zheng Wen’an’s laziness during the zombie fight, Song Chengjun suspected he wanted to dodge the night watch.
Though he had agreed willingly during the planning, come shift time, he was missing, leaving Song Chengjun regretting not doing a background check before picking.
Song Chengjun turned to find Zheng Wen’an’s tent, calling for a while before the person inside finally opened the tent’s zipper.
"Sorry, I overslept; I’ll get up now."
Zheng Wen’an slid out quickly with apologies, blocking Song Chengjun’s intended reprimand in his throat, neither able to spit it out nor swallow it.
"Hurry up, you’ve already delayed quite some time."
"Really sorry, I’ll pay more attention next time."
Zheng Wen’an apologized again, but Song Chengjun’s expression did not soften much.
