Reborn in the 80s: Everyone Falls For Me-Chapter 253 - 252: The Other Half in My Heart (1)
Chapter 253: Chapter 252: The Other Half in My Heart (1)
"Ugh... it’s just different, you know? There’s always a gap between imagination and reality."
Jin Yu felt a stab of pain at her words, furrowing his brows as he asked, "So you mean I’m not the person you were looking for?"
Jin Yu suddenly felt a surge of acidity in his chest.
Xu Niannian didn’t notice this time and seriously said, "Of course not. I would never have imagined I’d fall for a man of your type."
Huh... what does she mean by ’a man of his type’?
Jin Yu bristled, the hand encircling her waist tightened, and he asked in an unfriendly tone, "What’s wrong with my type?"
"It’s not that there’s anything wrong with your type, it’s just that it’s different from what I had initially imagined for my other half."
"You had imagined another half before?" Jin Yu’s voice rose an octave, and his eyebrows arched high.
Xu Niannian finally noticed his mood, saw that he was displeased, and chuckled as she patted his shoulder: "Calm down, calm down. I’ve already said it was just imagination. The reality is that I fell in love with you, isn’t it?"
Her eyes were brimming with laughter as she looked at him, those watery big eyes bright and moist.
The last sentence successfully soothed Jin Yu; she liked him, she was fond of him.
Still, he couldn’t help but ask curiously, "What did you initially imagine your other half to be like?"
Xu Niannian tilted her head, hands resting on his shoulders, and because he was injured, she dared not put all her weight on him.
After thinking, Xu Niannian said, "The other half I envisioned before had to be handsome, with a good body, able to give me a sense of security, to protect me..."
Jin Yu’s expression softened with a smile at this, wasn’t that describing him?
But the next second, Xu Niannian continued, "He should also be a gentleman, speak gently, and have a refined and scholarly temperament..."
Talking about her once fantasized other half, Xu Niannian became intrigued, her voice grew more animated as she got excited, engrossed in her girlhood dreams, and completely forgot that the man lying beneath her was a jealous type, and moreover, her boyfriend.
"Right, right, it would be best if he wore glasses, the kind with gold rims. Don’t you think such men are especially refined and scholarly, hmm?"
To Xu Niannian, handsome men with a scholarly temperament seemed perfect for gold-rimmed glasses, enough to make her swoon.
"Hmm?" Jin Yu frowned, feeling more and more that something was off.
It sounded more and more like Jin Ruiyang that bastard.
No, it wasn’t just sounding like, this was exactly the description of Jin Ruiyang’s facade.
Jin Yu suddenly found it difficult to breathe.
Xu Niannian felt like she was the poor steamed bun.
Noticing that blood was seeping through his chest again, Xu Niannian bit him in frustration, her almond eyes wide with anger, "What’s gotten into you all of a sudden?"
Jin Yu glowered, grinding his teeth: "You’re asking me what’s gotten into me?"
Xu Niannian pushed him, but Jin Yu grabbed her flailing hand: "Stop moving, give me another kiss."
Xu Niannian, both helpless and tender-hearted, said, "Jin Yu, you’re hurt. If you keep being careless with your body, I’ll get angry."
Jin Yu looked at her, his deep black eyes exceptionally profound.
Xu Niannian gazed back at him, her eyes focused and sincere, gleaming brightly in her moist pupils.
Xu Niannian gently stroked the bleeding bandage on his chest, her voice soft as she spoke to him, "It will pain my heart."
Her words turned Jin Langgou into a coddled pup.
Being very obedient, he released Xu Niannian and then lay down as told. His wound bled a few more times, which made Xu Niannian reluctantly call the doctor.
After the examination, the doctor had a nurse change Jin Yu’s bandage and gauze.
The doctor scolded Jin Yu without reserve, an old physician who had zero tolerance for patients that didn’t look after their own bodies, coincidentally, most of the recent hospital patients were the same kind.
Always thinking they were as tough as iron, serious injuries were mere scratches in their eyes, insisting on wreaking havoc however they pleased.
Thus, the old physician scolded them mercilessly.
The doctor’s anger was actually out of concern for the patients; Jin Yu could only bow his head and endure the scolding.
Watching Jin Yu get scolded so severely, Xu Niannian struggled to suppress her laughter. It was the first time she saw him at a disadvantage in front of someone else.
When the old doctor was leaving, he threw a meaningful phrase: "Young man, take care of your body. Don’t act out in the hospital. Once your injuries are healed, your wife will still be yours; there’s no need to rush."
This remark caused Xu Niannian to blush fiercely.
After the doctor left, Xu Niannian, annoyed, pinched Jin Yu’s arm and found it to be unbudgingly firm.
"See if you dare to mess around in the future," said Xu Niannian.
Stretching out his hand, Jin Yu pulled Xu Niannian to his side, and she, fearing that he might injure himself further, didn’t dare to struggle. With his pull, she just followed and walked over to him.
"Haven’t learned your lesson yet?"
Jin Yu was still brooding over her recent doting on another man. In a muffled voice he said, "It’s all your fault."
"My fault?" Xu Niannian protested with an expression of innocence, "Heavens be my witness, I did not ask you to kiss me, much less to toss and turn while holding me."
Jin Yu struggled to speak, but ultimately, he couldn’t hold back and spilled his thoughts to Xu Niannian.
"Since I am so different from the other half you imagined, why would you still... date me?"
As his voice grew weaker, Xu Niannian discovered something in amazement. "So, you went crazy and kissed me all of a sudden because of this?"
Jin Yu was embarrassed and flustered, "What else?"
After saying this, not only did Jin Yu’s face turn red, but his ears also blushed.
Not just an ordinary blush, they were so red they seemed almost to smoke.
Probably feeling extremely embarrassed, Jin Yu didn’t even look at Xu Niannian, instead, pretending that the scenery outside the window was fascinating, he gazed intently.
His demeanor was so adorable that Xu Niannian couldn’t hold back a chuckle.
Her bell-like laughter, clear and pleasant to the ear, made Jin Yu’s ears even redder.
Though still looking out the window, he asked, "Laugh, what are you laughing at?"
"I’m laughing at you for being silly!" Xu Niannian stated bluntly. Annoyed, Jin Yu turned his head, only to have his lips met by a soft touch.
Xu Niannian cupped his face, smiling as she pressed a kiss to his lips.
Jin Yu was stunned, dimly looking at the woman so close, their faces nearly touching, he couldn’t see her clearly because they were too close to focus.
After a brief kiss, Xu Niannian let go of him and pulled her head back, as Jin Yu shamelessly puckered his lips and chased after her.
Xu Niannian covered his mouth with a hand, her face beaming with a radiant smile, "Haven’t I told you already? Fantasy and reality will always differ. The other half in my imagination is like that, but it’s you that I like."
"But what if you meet someone who’s just like the person in your imagination?" Jin Yu, already healed by Xu Niannian’s words, still shyly asked her.
He just wanted to hear her say she liked him one more time.
Unfortunately, Xu Niannian didn’t let him have his way.
She said, "I’ve already met that person, you know."
"You’ve met them? Who!" Jin Yu’s alarm bells went off at once.
Xu Niannian patted his face, "Why the urgency? I met them some time ago, but although their appearance fit the bill, nothing about their character did, so you can relax."
"I can relax?" Jin Yu frowned, "You mean to say if you met someone who ticks all your boxes inside and out, you would..."
"I would what? Haven’t I told you that’s just my imagined other half? I have you now and wouldn’t be involved with anyone else. You’re the one who insisted I say it, and now I have, you’re just being petty," Xu Niannian rushed out all at once, leaving Jin Yu looking utterly defeated.
Reassured by her declaration that she had him now, Jin Yu nestled joyfully into the comforter.
Xu Niannian had to suppress a laugh watching him.
What a fool.
A lot of people came to see Jin Yu, and in no time at all, several had arrived.
All towering men, each one looked strong and formidable.
They were Jin Yu’s former subordinates.
Seeing Xu Niannian, all of these subordinates’ eyes nearly popped out of their heads, and they were promptly sent packing by Jin Yu.
One of them, Jin Yu’s superior, reassured him, told him to heal up well, and as he was leaving, glanced at Xu Niannian and said, "Xiao Jin, you’re quite lucky."
Then he left with a hearty laugh.
