Reborn in the 1970s — Married a Proud Rough Man-Chapter 94 - 46: A Lineage-Ending Kick
In contrast, Qin Mei was perfectly composed. She had intentionally wanted to escalate the conflict, and Qiao Yanqiu’s reaction exceeded her wildest expectations.
Qin Mei couldn’t wait to see what Qiao Yanqiu would do next. Jie Jianguo’s reaction told her that he knew what was happening but wanted to stop it, only to be threatened with divorce by Qiao Yanqiu.
People’s mindsets in this era were very conservative; they’d rather be widowed than get divorced. Qiao Yanqiu was certainly living up to her reputation as someone who had studied abroad.
"Chunyan, what do we do now?" Liu Guihua whispered to Xu Chunyan. She was filled with regret. ’A thousand is too much. If I had known, I wouldn’t have listened to my daughter. If I’d just asked for one or two hundred, Qiao Yanqiu might have actually given it to me.’
"Shh." Xu Chunyan pressed a finger to her lips, signaling for Liu Guihua to be quiet. She was out of ideas herself.
’If my father-in-law divorces Qiao Yanqiu, how am I supposed to get my hands on the Qiao Family’s fortune?’
"Don’t you shush me! Think of something, quick!" Liu Guihua was too impatient. Her mind was filled with thoughts of money, and she was completely oblivious to the fact that her son had crossed Qiao Yanqiu’s bottom line.
"Mom." Xu Chunyan was anxious too, but she truly had no idea what to do.
"You... I shouldn’t have listened to you," Liu Guihua complained. They hadn’t gotten the money, she was injured, and her son had been suffering for so long. Just looking at him made her heart ache.
"Mom." Xu Chunyan’s expression darkened as she gave Liu Guihua a little push. "Mom, can you please stop talking for a minute? You’re distracting me from thinking of a solution."
Liu Guihua’s eyes lit up. She looked at Xu Chunyan with approval. ’That’s my girl. Even in a situation like this, she refuses to back down or compromise and is still trying to find a way out.’
Watching Liu Guihua and Xu Chunyan whispering to each other, Qin Mei tugged on Jie Jingchen and asked in a low voice, "What’s your mom going to do?"
Jie Jingchen lowered his gaze to meet Qin Mei’s curious face. A conflicted look he couldn’t hide settled between his brows. His thin lips parted, and he spoke two words. "Cripple him."
"Cripple him?" Qin Mei’s brow furrowed as she looked at Jie Jingchen with suspicion. "Who? Xu Chunwang? Or Liu Guihua?"
Jie Jingchen said nothing, but his sharp gaze shifted to Xu Chunwang.
Qin Mei didn’t quite grasp the full meaning of "cripple" as Jie Jingchen had used it. She was about to ask for clarification, but Mrs. Xie gave her the answer directly.
"Jing Si hurt his back, right? He’s crippled, right? Can’t perform his husbandly duties, right? You wanted to be kind and take his place for him, right? Fine. I’ll show you ’kindness.’ I’ll show you ’taking his place’!" Mrs. Xie strode up to Xu Chunwang and, as everyone watched, lifted her foot and kicked him viciously between the legs.
"AHH!" A wretched scream tore from Xu Chunwang’s throat, a sound of tragic, unbearable agony.
Qin Mei was stunned. That kick from Mrs. Xie had been fast, ruthless, and precise—delivered with the clear intent of ending his family line.
The men who witnessed the scene all subconsciously shivered.
With his jaw dislocated, he couldn’t even speak properly. Xu Chunwang clutched his crotch and rolled on the ground, letting out pathetic screams.
The Jie Family and the Xu Family... no, that wasn’t quite right. It was the Xu Family and Qiao Yanqiu who had made a complete and total break.
"Mom, you’re incredible!" Qin Mei cheered enthusiastically. ’By crippling Xu Chunwang, she’s probably saved countless innocent women.’
Xu Chunwang was a menace to society. The moment he saw an attractive woman, he’d get ideas, and those ideas always led to him trying to possess them. Who knew how many unlucky women had been harmed after crossing his path.
His encounter with her was the beginning of his downfall. This was karma.
Mrs. Xie gave Qin Mei a gentle smile before her expression turned glacial as she faced Xu Chunwang. Her gaze seemed to slice him apart. "My son hurt his back, and I don’t know if he’ll end up crippled or not. But you? You most certainly are."
Hearing that her son had been crippled, Liu Guihua exploded with rage. Ignoring her own pain, she scrambled to her feet and charged toward Qiao Yanqiu. "Qiao Yanqiu, you crippled my son! You ended the Xu family line! I’ll kill you!"
"Mom!" Jie Jingjue’s reaction was lightning fast. He rushed forward to shield Qiao Yanqiu with his body. Had Liu Guihua charged at Qin Mei, he might have hesitated, but with his own mother as the target, he didn’t pause for a single second.
One was his sister-in-law, and the other was his own mother. He knew how to weigh his priorities.
At the critical moment, Jie Jingjue proved to be a good son. Qin Mei couldn’t help but glance at Jie Jingchen, who was as still as a mountain. But no, he did move. As Liu Guihua rushed past, he stuck out his foot, tripping her. This time, she’d learned her lesson and threw her hands out to break her fall, avoiding a second injury to her face.
Tripped by Jie Jingchen, her massive body crashed heavily to the ground. Just looking at all that fat hitting the floor was enough to make you wince in pain.
"AHH!" Liu Guihua’s scream was deafening.
Jie Jingchen calmly drew his foot back. He placed one hand on his back and rested the other on Qin Mei’s shoulder, letting her support his weight. She looked completely dumbfounded. "Your back hurts?"
"Tired." His amber eyes were bloodshot, and a faint layer of exhaustion settled over his devilishly handsome features.
"I’ll heat up some water for you to soak your feet before bed," Qin Mei said considerately. He’d been out and about for half the day, and he was injured on top of it all. ’It’d be a miracle if he wasn’t tired.’
