Reborn in a cultivation world with my Ex girlfriends-Chapter 57: The Storm Rages, But So Does the Underdog
Chapter 57 - The Storm Rages, But So Does the Underdog
The moment Zhao Shen's rage took over, the air in the dueling hall became suffocating. Water energy surged around him like a hurricane, and the walls trembled under the force of his typhoon-like aura. His azure trident gleamed with deadly brilliance, water condensing into razor-sharp tendrils that floated around him, ready to tear Wang Li apart.
The disciples watching from the stands backed away, their faces pale. Even some of the elders frowned.
Mu Qingling gasped. "This... This is an advanced water domain!"
Lin Ruoyan's eyes narrowed. "He's finally taking this seriously. Wang Li is in trouble."
Wang Li, however, simply wiped the blood from his lip and grinned.
"Finally done playing around?" he asked, flipping his dagger between his fingers. "Took you long enough."
Zhao Shen's face twisted into an ugly smirk. "You're still acting tough? Let's see how long that lasts."
He vanished.
BOOM!
A torrent of water exploded from the ground as Zhao Shen appeared above Wang Li, his trident crashing down like a falling meteor.
Wang Li barely managed to twist his body, dodging the main strike, but the sheer shockwave of the attack launched him backward, slamming him into the wall.
CRACK!
The stone shattered under the impact. Dust and debris filled the air.
Zhao Shen didn't let up. He thrust his hand forward, and the swirling water around him solidified into countless spears, each one sharp enough to pierce through steel.
"DROWN."
The spears shot forward, raining down like a merciless storm.
Wang Li exhaled sharply.
His mind worked at lightning speed. He couldn't dodge—the attack covered too much ground.
Then there was only one solution.
Counterattack.
Wang Li's dagger pulsed with shadow energy as he slashed downward, and his Shadow Step technique activated at full power.
The moment the water spears pierced through him, his body shattered like an illusion—leaving only a flicker of dark mist behind.
Zhao Shen's eyes widened. "What—?!"
A whisper brushed against his ear.
"Behind you."
SLASH!
Zhao Shen twisted just in time, but Wang Li's dagger still found its mark, cutting across his left side, drawing a deep gash of crimson.
The crowd erupted.
"He hit Zhao Shen again!"
"Impossible!"
"Is Wang Li actually winning?!"
Zhao Shen roared in fury, spinning his trident wildly. Wang Li barely ducked in time, but the wind pressure alone ripped through his robes, leaving shallow cuts across his arms.
Zhao Shen kicked forward, and before Wang Li could dodge, a wave of water exploded from the ground, hurling him skyward.
"Enough of your tricks!" Zhao Shen thundered, leaping after him, his trident spinning violently. "I'll end this NOW!"
The air trembled.
The water gathered into a colossal dragon, its roaring maw open wide, ready to swallow Wang Li whole.
The sheer power of the attack sent shockwaves rippling across the entire sect.
Even the Sect Master, watching from his elevated seat, leaned forward slightly.
Wang Li, suspended mid-air, felt the full weight of impending death.
And yet—
His grin only widened.
"Alright, Shen," he murmured. "Let's see if you can handle this."
He clenched his dagger.
And then—
He let go.
The black dagger vanished into thin air, but Wang Li's hand did not remain empty for long.
From within his robe, he withdrew a small, crystalline talisman—one that glowed with an ominous golden-red light.
Zhao Shen's eyes widened in horror.
"That's—"
Wang Li's fingers snapped, and the talisman erupted with blinding brilliance.
"Crimson Void Technique—Sunburst Collapse!"
The moment the technique activated, the world exploded into chaos.
The talisman detonated, releasing a wave of heat and light so intense that the entire dueling platform melted instantly. The water dragon evaporated on impact, and Zhao Shen was engulfed in the golden inferno.
BOOOOOOM!
The audience screamed as the shockwave rippled across the entire sect. Buildings shook, and weaker disciples were thrown to the ground from the sheer force.
The elders instinctively activated their barriers.
For a brief moment—there was only white light.
Then, as the smoke and flames finally began to clear, two figures remained standing in the center of the destruction.
Zhao Shen was kneeling, his trident scorched and cracked, his robes burned, and his body covered in bruises and cuts. His breath was ragged, and his once-pristine aura had completely collapsed.
Wang Li, meanwhile, stood tall—his clothes slightly singed, but otherwise completely fine. His grin remained, but this time, it was sharper.
Zhao Shen looked up at him, eyes wide with disbelief.
"You... You cheated..." he gasped.
Wang Li raised an eyebrow. "Cheated? Didn't you just use a domain-level technique against me?"
Zhao Shen's mouth opened, but no words came out.
Silence.
Then—
Laughter.
Mu Qingling was the first to burst into laughter, her clear voice ringing through the stunned hall.
"That was incredible!" she cheered, clapping her hands. "Wang Li actually outplayed Zhao Shen!"
Lin Ruoyan smirked. "I have to admit... that was impressive."
The Sect Master himself nodded approvingly, stroking his beard. "An unconventional victory... but a victory nonetheless."
Zhao Shen's fists clenched. His humiliation was unbearable. But before he could say anything—
A loud voice interrupted.
"Enough. The match is over."
An elder stepped forward, his expression severe. "Zhao Shen, you lost. Wang Li is the winner."
The cheers erupted like thunder.
Wang Li simply extended a hand. "Good match."
Zhao Shen glared at him, then gritted his teeth—and slapped his hand away before stomping off.
Wang Li chuckled.
"Guess not."
Mu Qingling rushed up to him, practically bouncing with excitement. "That was amazing! Where did you even get that talisman?!"
Wang Li winked. "A magician never reveals his secrets."

Lin Ruoyan rolled her eyes. "Tch. Just don't get cocky."
As the disciples continued celebrating, Wang Li couldn't help but feel a rush of satisfaction.
For once, he wasn't just surviving.
He was winning.
And this... was only the beginning.
