Chapter 83: Chapter 83 Coincidental Encounter (3)_1

Shangguan You drew a sharp breath. Damn it, Zhuge Feng, this prodigy, he’s grown taller again in just a few months! And his speech, tone, actions—all so incredibly mature. Worlds apart from the little boy she’d rescued in the alley, the one who’d only clung to her and cried.

Shen Jia and the others stared as Zhuge Feng entered, momentarily stunned.

"Bring out your most expensive and best dishes," Gui Mo declared loudly, noticing Shangguan You’s eyes were still glued to Zhuge Feng’s face.

"Yes, bring out a few of your signature dishes," Shangguan Qing said, gently taking Shangguan You’s hand to draw her attention back, stopping her from staring at Zhuge Feng.

"Yes, the most expensive ones! With Master Shen here, we can’t hold back," Shangguan You chuckled, then said lightly, giving Zhuge Feng a subtle wink to order the priciest dishes.

"Very well," Zhuge Feng replied with a polite smile. He gave Shangguan You a deep look before excusing himself.

「In the courtyard」

Shangguan You spotted a figure leaning against a tree in the distance. She couldn’t help but marvel; what on earth had Zhuge Feng been eating these past few months to change so drastically?

"You’re here."

"Yes, you little rascal, all grown up! And that face of yours just gets more handsome by the day. Come, let your big sister have a good look," Shangguan You said, already vigorously kneading Zhuge Feng’s cheeks with both hands.

Two bright red patches instantly bloomed on Zhuge Feng’s fair skin, lending him an unexpected touch of allure.

"I’m a man, and I’m older than you! You can’t pinch my face like that, and you can’t take advantage of me either," Zhuge Feng huffed, a hint of pique in his voice. Yet, he didn’t push Shangguan You’s hands away. During their time together, his face had been subjected to this treatment hundreds of times; he’d grown somewhat accustomed to her boisterous ways.

"So what?" Shangguan You retorted lightly, her hands lingering as she gave his cheeks another playful squeeze, clearly reluctant to stop.

"Alright, alright! Any more pinching and I won’t be able to show my face in public," Zhuge Feng finally grabbed Shangguan You’s hands, pulling them away. He was afraid if she continued, his handsome face would be ruined.

Sometimes, Zhuge Feng would inexplicably recall that night. If he hadn’t possessed such sharp eyes and an innocent, boyish face, he might have died in that alley.

Before meeting Shangguan You, he’d despised his innocuous face for the constant, unbidden trouble it attracted. But after encountering her, he found himself, for some reason, starting to appreciate his looks. If not for this face, these eyes, he believed Shangguan You would never have noticed him.

"Why worry about not being able to show your face? As long as *I* like how it looks, that’s all that matters," Shangguan You murmured, though she did indeed stop kneading his face.

"Are you hurt?" A faint scent of blood reached Shangguan You’s nose, causing her brows to furrow slightly. How could he be injured?

"It’s nothing, just a minor scrape," Zhuge Feng replied. A gentle warmth spread through his heart. Only after meeting Shangguan You did he realize what a blessing it was to be cherished, loved, and cared for by someone.

"What happened?" Shangguan You had just voiced her question when shouts from nearby cut her off.

"Help! Someone, help!"

"Quick, call an ambulance! Hurry, hurry..." freёnovelkiss.com

Shangguan You and Zhuge Feng exchanged a look, then quickly moved towards the source of the commotion.

"Quick, grab on! Hurry!"

"Don’t be afraid, Grandpa’s here!"

The cries of alarm continued. Shangguan You and Zhuge Feng had already reached the edge of a small lake. It was an artificial lake, created for guests to enjoy recreational boating in small vessels.

In the middle of the lake, a small boat drifted. An elderly man stood on it, his face etched with anxiety, while an eight-year-old child thrashed about in the water near the boat.

It appeared the child had accidentally fallen into the water. The old man stretched his oar out as far as possible, trying to let the struggling child grab hold. However, the child was too far away and couldn’t reach it. The old man, unable to swim himself, could only shout reassurances, telling the child not to be scared.

The child’s struggles weakened as their body slowly sank. Within moments, they had disappeared completely beneath the water’s surface.

The shouts for help had come from two or three guests on the lakeshore. They only watched from a distance; not one of them stepped forward to help the old man or the child.

Witnessing the scene, a flicker of surprise crossed Zhuge Feng’s youthful face. He swiftly shrugged off his jacket, preparing to jump into the lake. This was his establishment, after all. How could he allow someone to die here? He absolutely would not permit such a thing to happen.

"I’ll go, you’re injured!" Shangguan You grabbed Zhuge Feng’s arm. Then, SPLASH! She dove into the lake and swam towards where the child had gone under.

Zhuge Feng’s expression froze. He was a man! How could he let a girl—Shangguan You, no less—jump into the lake to save someone? Especially since the water was at its absolute coldest this time of year! Vexation filled his youthful features. But then, as he watched her figure disappear beneath the surface, an inexplicable flicker of joy crossed his face. She was worried about his injury; that’s why she’d jumped in herself! Zhuge Feng stood by the small lake, waiting anxiously.

The previously deserted lakeshore was suddenly surrounded by a crowd of onlookers.

"Go prepare two sets of clean clothes!" Zhuge Feng quickly instructed a waiter who had rushed over, his gaze then returning to where Shangguan You had entered the water.

Since the establishment opened, nothing like this had ever happened. Consequently, there were very few staff members, if any, who knew how to swim. Thus, everyone could only wait anxiously by the lakeside. Apart from Shangguan You, no one else dived into the water.

The moment Shangguan You plunged into the lake, an icy chill enveloped her entire body. She immediately circulated the Spiritual Energy within her, channeling it throughout her limbs, then swiftly swam towards the sinking child.

Shangguan You dived deeper into the murky lake water. She saw the child in the distance, eyes wide with terror, bubbles continuously streaming from their nose and mouth as their arms flailed frantically. Yet, the child’s legs were eerily still, as if something unseen was desperately pulling them deeper into the lake.
