Chapter 14: Chapter 14 Wife

She grimaced at the multiple texts but within her, she was excited as she grinned inwardly.

This only shows how much he was in panic.

A mischievous grin was on Jasmine's face as she said. "We could make this a little more fun." an idea popped up in her head.

She dialed a few digits before placing the phone close to her ears. After waiting for just several minutes, the call got connected and a woman's voice came from the other side.

"Hello, Star's media at your service. What would you like to report to us?" The professional tone came from the other end, making Jasmine's smile grow even more wide. Mischief swirled in her eyes. Jack's greatest mistake was messing with her!

"Sir, the men you assigned to trail Your wife just reported that a few reporters were lurking around her office building and following her," Raymond reported, his eyes remained on the expressionless face of Kingsley.

Kingsley gently rubbed his jaw, his eyes narrowed slightly as if deep in thought. "What stations are these reporters from?? Give me the data of all of them." He said a little chilly, making Raymond stiffly nod.

Raymond started to scroll through his tablet and Kingsley's voice came again. "Have you found out anything about Jasmine's reasons for suddenly wanting to not marry Jack anymore??"

"The men are still working on it, they promise to send a response before evening." Raymond reassured Kingsley who started to tap his slender fingers on the table.

He had always wondered why Jasmine suddenly backed off from wedding Jack. For all they all know, Jasmine has always been crazy about Jack from day one. Her sudden change of heart made him curious and he wanted to know if she had another agenda.

He wasn't sure if their meeting was coincidental. Did she plan it??

All of these were on his mind and he wanted clarity. He knew the answers were not going to come from Jasmine so he had men investigate it.

"While you're at it, contact Jones to directly come over to the house to drop his latest piece for Jasmine to wear later this evening." He sat upright on his chair before waving Raymond dismissively. "That's all for now."

"Okay, Boss." Raymond said before stepping out of the office, ready to go carry out all of the tasks.

Kingsley spent the next few hours reading the company's data, balance sheets and also some projects.

At some point, he got tired but he couldn't rest. His hand found its way to his drawer and he pulled it out.

A few white similar cans were there, so he grabbed one of the cans and opened it. He threw two of the blue pills on his palm before swallowing it without water.

He returned the can to the drawer again before shutting it. A deep sigh escaped Kingsley's lips as he held onto his head, his head was lowered as he shut his eyes....looking very exhausted.

The day ran by rather slowly, Jasmine was eager to get home and gist with her friend, Nicole.

Even though it was an exhausting day for her, she was glad that her father didn't come to look for her in her department.

Although they already agreed that he won't meddle in her work life. At work, he shouldn't concern himself with her, and their relationship would be employer-to-employee.

But due to this whole situation of her getting married to Kingsley, someone who her father doesn't like, she had thought he would come to find her and...

"Wait—how did I leave the house last night??" Now, it dawned on Jasmine.

She didn't ask questions earlier today, how she had left her father's house when he had his butler lock her up in her room!!!

'What happened while I was asleep??' She remembered falling asleep after crying, but she didn't know what happened next.

"Did Kingsley come over??" She whispered to herself but then, a knock came from the door, pulling her from her thoughts.

The overall manager, who was an elderly man, came into her office. With a smile on his face, he said the moment he opened the door. "The CEO requested an urgent meeting in the conference room, requesting the presence of all the heads of the design departments!"

Jasmine nodded quickly and the man exited the room. Before leaving, she grabbed her phone and quickly sent Kingsley a text.

{Hey, what happened last night? How did I wake up in your house this morning?} She pressed the send button in a hurry and started to fish out her jotter, pen, and tablet.

She hurriedly got up from her seat and rushed out of her cubicle, the people working raised their eyes to look at her and she just threw them an awkward smile.

Just when she got near the conference room, her phone beeped again and she hurriedly checked, surprisingly, it was a text from Kingsley to whom she had saved his contact as 'Husband.'

His reply came sooner than she had expected and that made her think he was probably waiting for her text all day.

Husband>{ That isn't a nice way for a wife to ask her husband how he is fairing at work!}

Jasmine let out a small laugh "Pfft." She quickly pressed her lips together, and her eyes scanned everywhere to see if anyone was looking at her.

She quickly typed back. {Sorry, dear husband. I hope you are having a great day. I need to attend a meeting now, see you at home.}

With that, she rushed towards the conference room and stood in front of the door. She was about to open it when another departmental head rushed forward and slightly pushed her out of the way.

"Adjust, wife of a murder." The lady who seemed to be in her early thirties gushed out, making sure Jasmine heard her loud and clear.

Jasmine was stunned by her sudden change of character. Mrs Becky was never like that to her. The nerves!!

Mrs Becky didn't look at Jasmine as she pushed the door and went into the conference room.

Jasmine clenched and unclenched her fist before entering the hall too. The moment she entered, she felt a sharp burning gaze on her, one that gave her a familiar chill.

Jasmine subconsciously shuddered at the burning gaze.

Jasmine shut the door behind her slowly, she sucked in a deep breath when everyone's eyes fell on her but one particular set of eyes on her made her look ahead, towards the CEO chair and her lips slightly pried open in shock when she saw the man staring back at her.
