Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 115: A lord’s challenge
Everything stilled.
No one dared to move, even breathing felt like a daring move for those on the lower ladder of the pyramid.
The big bosses, on the other hand, smirked at what happened.
The evening was surely turning more and more interesting for them, and it was all coming down to these weird gamblers.
First, they saw a Gorgon challenging a fairy to meet the King, and now a lantern openly bet a life.
She not only made a bet but also achieved a clean victory kill.
Kyle looked at Amelia. She has always been innocent, naive, helpless, and clueless in his eyes. Though her recent activities were worth worrying about because she was involving herself with rogues more spontaneously than ever, not to mention she was working in a place, experimenting on things that didn’t make any sense to him.
But today...
The way her eyes glazed when she pulled that sword out and plunged it straight into Galore’s heart, something changed.
His perspective of her was shaking, and she looked hotter than she had ever looked with that blood splashed on her face, her eyes dark and unreadable.
Yes, everyone was shocked, but not because of what Amelia did to Galore, but what Amelia did it with.
She used a demon’s sword to kill a werewolf.
A demon’s sword that was tied to its lord.
But more than that, the fact that she could even use a demon lord’s sword without asking for permission baffled them.
Had the demon lord secretly permitted her? What was going on?
The demon lord, Achilles, smirked.
Then, like a thundering rain that promised a storm, he chuckled.
"It’s funny," He said.
Clementine felt a chill run down his spine.
Funny?
The demon lord found things funny?
He looked at Amelia with clenched teeth.
"Miss —" he started to speak, but Amelia didn’t pay him any attention.
She pulled out her handkerchief from her pocket in the dress and wiped the blood on the sword before presenting the sword back to the demon lord.
Achilles’s eyes turned a dark shade of orange. He held the scabbard of the sword and pulled it out of his waist before extending his hand.
Amelia quirked her brows but didn’t say anything and placed the sword back in its place.
"Thank you for letting me use this," Amelia said.
Achilles licked his bottom lip.
Amelia nodded at Clementine and turned to leave.
The host breathed a sigh of relief when he noticed the lord didn’t make a move or say anything.
Kyle sighed. She was returning. Now all he wanted to do was take her out of this place, punish her a little for this little stunt, and send her back to the palace.
It was more than enough adventure for her. If he didn’t take her away now, things might get out of control.
Kyle nodded to himself.
However, just when everyone thought the fun was over and started to relax, Achilles dropped the bomb.
"I challenge number 99 to a bet," The Demon Lord said.
Amelia stood frozen in her place. Her fists were clenched by her side.
While she knew she acted a little too impulsive, like those dumb heroines who make a move without thinking twice, and was hoping it wouldn’t backfire, she hadn’t thought to bet twice in the same evening.
The person who was asking her for a bet was none other than a demon. Even if she didn’t know it was a lord she was dealing with, she knew to be wary.
Her instincts told her to deny. But that was the worst part of it.
In Highlights Gamblers, once you enter, solo or with your boss, if you are challenged for a bet, you must sit on the opposite side until you have the power and authority to deny it.
And she was nothing before these people.
Amelia’s gaze met with Kyle, and the man thinned his lips.
"Am I screwed?" She asked loudly.
Kyle looked at her, dumbfounded. Was she really asking him that after making a mess?
Kyle seethed through his teeth. He was angry, but he loved her more than his own life, and was about to stand up from his place, ready to defend her and stand before her if she gave him a word.
But to his surprise, the demon lord spoke.
"Don’t worry. I am not here to ask for something extravagant. I’d like to have dinner with you. And I stake whatever you want," The demon lord said.
It wasn’t surprising. Most of the lords who came to Highlights usually take away a girl or two for a fun night in the name of dinner.
No one dares to ask what happens on that dinner night, and the girls are not allowed to speak about it either. They are paid generously for that, and the girls always come out with a smile, so no one questions its ethics either.
Amelia roamed her gaze around the hall. Nearly everyone was looking at her in anticipation.
It was a challenging game.
She didn’t want to do it. But since she was already chosen, she needed to make up her mind about it.
The penalty fee wasn’t something she could afford either. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
The penalty alone was $ 100 million.
Amelia took a deep breath.
"I am sorry, Cyrus. I will try my best not to let this demon lord get his way with me," She told herself before nodding and sitting on the seat.
"If I win, I’ll walk out of this place with no more betting against me and 500 million dollars from the man’s account who challenged me. If I lose, I will have dinner. Mind you, I only like vegetarian food and don’t entertain any funny games," Amelia said.
Even though she knew she got the shorter end of the stick, she wanted to change things to her terms and show this demon that even if she was a lantern, he shouldn’t underestimate her.
That was what that boss had taught her in her last life.
Half of the game is won the moment you exert your dominance in the room.
Clementine looked at the demon lord, waiting for his agreement.
Achilles leaned in his seat, sizing Amelia from head to toe.
For a girl as tiny as this one, she surely placed an interesting bet.
"I agree," Achilles said.
Amelia smiled.
She was about to nod at Clementine when her mark suddenly burned with a black glow, and her pupils dilated when she saw that the black aura was shifting towards the demon sitting before her.
What was happening? She wondered when she suddenly felt a burst of energy inside herself.
She noticed that, like a flame that burns blue at the center and yellow outside, though the glow was black from the outside, it was golden in between.
As she felt more and more relaxed, calm, and in control, rather than fearful, she realised what was happening.
Her mark was absorbing energy from the demon lord.
What the hell? Her gaze widened at the theory because in the next moment, her gaze met with the demon lord sitting before her, who looked directly at her as if he knew something about her.
And it scared her.
