[Ding! Your Fire Resistance has increased]

Kaden opened his eyes after almost an hour of meditation, and checked out the new system message. "My fire resistance can be improved?" He raised a brow in surprise. He hadn’t expected this. But that also meant…

"I am not going to get my quest done in this zone." He had to move further inward.

Kaden stood up and barely took a couple steps when once again rocks started breaking away. Two more golems appeared in front of him. "Alright. Bring it on."

The two lava golems rose from the ground, molten veins pulsing with violent energy as obsidian fragments cascaded down their massive forms. Their blazing eyes glared fiercely at Kaden, challenging him to take even a single step closer.

Without hesitation, Kaden lunged forward, weaving between the fiery blows that rained down on him. Each punch he threw landed precisely, shattering rock and scattering magma. The golems adapted quicker, sealing their wounds instantly with the molten lava flowing through their bodies.

Kaden sidestepped as one golem slammed its massive fist into the ground, spraying molten stone in every direction. A scorching heat brushed past his cheek, narrowly avoided. The next second, his fist met the golem’s chest, this time with enough explosive force that it blew a crater through the creature’s torso, scattering rock and lava alike.

The first golem collapsed, shattering to pieces before it could regenerate.

Without giving a break, the second golem was already on him. A giant fist grazed his shoulder, burning a sizzling mark into his flesh. Kaden grunted, ignoring the sharp sting, and spun to face the remaining creature head-on.

"Let’s finish this!"

Kaden leaped upward, his body streaking through the blistering air. With a roar, he smashed down on the golem’s head, obliterating it in a spectacular explosion of lava and stone shards.

Shaking his head with a light chuckle, he kissed his fist and did a fist pump. He had an idiotic grin spread on his face but he did not care. Only someone at the rock bottom of utter desperation would understand his emotions. He still had a long way to go but he was loving what his body could do at the moment.

"Enough celebrating," he said to himself, smirking faintly. He dusted off ash and obsidian fragments from his shoulders and resumed his path inward. He moved swiftly, deeper toward the heart of the Emberforge Abyss.

In his last life, there were many rumors about what was inside these volcanoes that made them so devastating and powerful. They had the ability to lay waste to a whole continent. What could be inside them? Kaden wanted to find out.

As he ventured deeper into the Emberforge Abyss, the terrain itself seemed to warp and twist under the relentless heat. Streams of molten lava flowed like rivers around him, bubbling ominously, while fiery geysers erupted intermittently, shooting scalding steam into the sulfur-filled air.

Sweat dripped down his forehead, his body feeling heavier with each step.

Maybe it was time to take another meditation break to allow his body to get used to the temperature. Kaden was not sure if he would be able to go all the way but as long as his extreme environment quest was complete he would be satisfied.

Reaching the core of this thing would probably be a long term goal he would have to revisit sometime later.

Kaden closed his eyes and breathed in and out in a relaxed manner. It was more difficult to do this here than the last zone but he was persisting. However, in just a few minutes, he jumped up abruptly as he felt a tremor beneath his feet.

Kaden barely managed to leap back in time, landing on a jagged slab of blackened rock as the ground beneath him split apart. The stone cracked violently, glowing fissures forming beneath his feet before exploding outward in a fiery eruption.

A searing gust of heat blasted against his skin, and he instinctively shielded his face as a massive serpentine head burst forth from the molten depths.

The creature was huge, its body a twisted fusion of molten rock and flowing lava, obsidian scales gleaming red-hot like freshly forged metal. It reared up, lava dripping from its fanged maw, the very air around it shimmering from the sheer intensity of its heat.

Kaden narrowed his eyes, tensing as the beast’s slit-pupil eyes locked onto him with primal fury. "Of course it had to be a giant snake," he muttered, rolling his shoulders.

The serpent lunged without warning, its massive body moving with impossible speed for something so huge. Kaden barely had time to react before he was forced to dodge, flipping backward as the serpent’s mouth slammed into the ground where he had just stood.

The impact sent another violent shockwave through the ground, cracks spreading like veins across the volcanic terrain.

Kaden tried to retaliate, summoning his Thorn Whip to lash at the beast’s neck but the moment the vines made contact, they sizzled and burned to ash instantly.

"What the—" Kaden’s eyes widened in frustration. He tried Sanguine Roots, hoping to bind the serpent in place, but the moment they emerged from the ground, the oppressive heat reduced them to embers before they could even take hold.

Even Nature’s Grasp wilted and disintegrated into nothing the instant it reached the lava-covered ground. All of his skills were completely useless. This had to be a peak E-grade beast and it definitely had a quasi-core.

Kaden was sure of it. Only a quasi-core can give it such a big upperhand and the beast was using the terrain to its advantage. But wait, if a beast like this was roaming about in this zone, then what sorts of beasts occupied the innermost zones?

Excitement and nervousness gripped him at the same time. He wanted to see just how far he could push himself today and it started with defeating this disgusting snake.
