Reborn as the Sweetheart of a Paranoid Boss-Chapter 553: Dawn and Dusk Exposed 3
The reporters scrambled to surround them.
Selena Kensington frowned slightly, looking at them as if they were eyeing a piece of delicious meat, a hint of disgust flickering in her eyes.
She raised her voice, a chilly tone carried through, "If you don’t want to lose your jobs, just try and stop me."
"I think I have that kind of power."
After Selena said these two sentences, the reporters who intended to rush up and block her from leaving were suddenly frozen in place.
They just remembered that Selena’s presence would certainly be big news.
But they forgot that Selena wasn’t someone they could stop as they pleased.
The forces behind her were not something they dared to provoke.
Seeing that they sensibly stayed put, Selena didn’t bother with them anymore and directly took the elevator down to the lobby on the first floor.
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she went to the front desk and instructed, "Send a few people to clear out the reporters in the underground parking. Don’t let them sneak in!"
"If there’s anyone unreasonable causing trouble, feel free to throw them out. Don’t be polite to them."
The receptionist froze for a moment, "Yes, Miss Kensington."
Selena glanced at the circles of reporters outside, her brows furrowing even more tightly.
"Shut the main gate directly. Ignore the reporters outside."
"Yes."
If it weren’t for the heavy workload of the security team today, requiring a lot of manpower just to maintain order in the lobby, those few that slipped through wouldn’t have infiltrated the underground parking.
After giving her orders, Selena turned and entered the elevator, heading to the floor where Hugh Kensington was.
As soon as she walked out of the elevator, Hugh’s assistant greeted her.
"Miss Kensington, you’re here. The CEO and others are waiting for you."
Selena nodded, "Got it. Go ahead with your work."
"Alright."
Then, Selena walked into the office alone.
Inside the office, Hugh Kensington, Tessa Sinclair, and Sloane Hawthorne were there.
When Selena walked in, Sloane was sitting alone on the sofa, while Tessa and Hugh were discussing how to resolve the matter.
Upon hearing the sound from behind, Tessa and Hugh looked over.
And Sloane stood up immediately.
"Sister!"
She called out nervously.
Selena noticed Sloane’s eyes were slightly red, as if she had just cried.
"I..."
As soon as Sloane called out ’sister’, she wanted to explain to Selena.
But she barely managed a word when Selena raised her hand to stop her from continuing.
"I already know. That person is Silas Sinclair, isn’t it?"
Selena spoke calmly.
Sloane looked incredulously wide-eyed.
While Tessa exchanged a glance with Hugh.
"Sister... you knew all along?"
Sloane’s voice was somewhat bitter.
From the moment she discovered those things about her were exposed online, Sloane went from shock and panic to only worrying about Selena’s thoughts.
She was afraid that Selena would be disappointed in her once she knew about it.
After all, she had always hidden it from her.
Selena shook her head slightly, "It’s only been a little while."
Then, Selena looked steadily at Sloane, "I’ve been waiting for you to tell me yourself, but it’s a pity that no one expected such a thing to happen."
Subsequently, Selena turned to Hugh and Tessa.
"Let me have a chat with Sloane first."
Hugh and Tessa nodded, "Alright."
Then, Selena and Sloane went into the office’s lounge.
Sloane walked ahead, and as Selena entered the room, she closed the door.
She glanced at the sofa in the lounge, "Sit down."
At Selena’s words, Sloane sat down on the sofa.
Selena came over and sat opposite her.
"When did it happen?"
Selena asked.
"...Over a month ago, we formally established our relationship."
Sloane paused at Selena’s question.
Then she meticulously recalled how she and Silas Sinclair had met.
It was during the filming of "Immortal Path" when she mistook him for a lecherous peeping tom, kicking his suit pants several times.
Later, Silas used Iris Sinclair’s name to get her WeChat ID.
He would occasionally chat with her.
Initially, Sloane replied to him stiffly, even a bit flattered.
But later, Sloane sensed something was off.
Until finally, Silas stopped hiding his intentions.
He began sending her flowers, and each night before she fell asleep, he would text her a sweet nothing.
To be honest, Sloane wanted to laugh off Silas’s cheesy love lines.
They were obviously Googled clichés.
After that, Sloane started to act coldly towards him, hoping to let the matter cool off.
The two decided that once "Butterfly Flame" wrapped up in Stonefall, they would finally lay everything out in the open.
When Sloane returned, she laid everything out with Silas.
But after laying it out, she found she couldn’t pull herself away.
She cried alone in her room, leaning against the window in the cover of night, for a long time.
She only fell asleep against the window when no more tears would come.
Later, she cut off all contact with Silas.
Until that time in the shopping paradise.
Silas seemed to understand something, pursuing her with even more shameless persistence, and Sloane had nowhere to hide.
Rather than being unable to avoid him, perhaps deep down she was subtly allowing Silas’s behavior.
She had already fallen for him but was too cautious about her sensitive heart and pride to face her feelings.
Seeing Silas drop his guard in front of her, even accommodating her and tolerating her tantrums.
Sloane couldn’t help but fall deep.
In the end, Silas really did win her over.
And ever since Sloane finally agreed, Silas became even bolder.
Completely ignoring work, he took time every day to whisk Sloane away.
The famous reason being that couples needed to nurture their relationship.
Sloane couldn’t argue with him, so she just complied.
Selena raised an eyebrow slightly, "So previously, he kept pursuing you but never succeeded?"
"He’s really low."
"..."
Never did Sloane expect Selena to make such a remark about Silas at this moment, leaving her a bit stunned.
But inwardly, Selena’s words put her much more at ease.
"Actually, it’s all because of me..."
If it weren’t for her pride and that sensitivity in her heart.
Perhaps Silas wouldn’t have had to chase her for so long.
While Silas was pursuing her, she constantly felt scared and panicked.
She feared that Silas’s affection was just a sudden impulse and that it would fade with her coldness towards him.
Then she would only think of it as a stunning yet unrealistic daydream.
So she never dared to agree with Silas.
But she ignored that she had already been moved by his pursuit.
Selena looked at Sloane seriously and asked, "Do you like him?"
Sloane paused and then pondered for a long time.
