Reborn as the General's Useless Daughter-Chapter 259: Back to the Academy
Heavenly City;
After days of travel, the familiar outline of the city finally appeared before them.
The moment they stepped inside, the noise of the streets rushed toward them like a tide. Shouts of vendors, the clatter of carts, the flow of people coming and going—everything was lively, bustling, and vividly real.
Seeing this familiar scene again, everyone felt an indescribable emotion well up in their hearts.
Although they had only left the academy for a single month, the time spent inside the illusion felt like many years. Those experiences had already been etched deeply into their minds. Now, returning to Heavenly City felt like stepping into another lifetime.
"We’re finally back..."
Reesa couldn’t help sighing. They have only gone like barely for a few weeks, but not just her, even others felt like they had gone for years.
Everyone headed straight toward the academy.
Now that they had returned safely, the first thing to do was report back.
As the group walked through the city streets, countless gazes gathered around them.
"Isn’t that Zora from the academy’s special enrollment class?"
"Yes, it’s them! I heard they were chosen by the ancient ruins in the Suffocating Forest. They’re finally back!"
"The inheritance from those ruins is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Their luck is unbelievable. I wonder how much stronger they’ve become?"
Curiosity, envy, amazement—every kind of look followed the five of them.
Ever since Sylvandria and the others returned ahead of time, news had already spread throughout Heavenly City. During this period, Zora and her group had become the center of countless discussions. Now that they appeared in person, it was only natural that they drew attention.
Hearing the whispers around them, Reesa broke into a wide grin. "Zora, this is the first time in my life I’ve been stared at by so many people!"
Back when she followed Zora, all the praise and astonishment were directed at Zora alone. She was barely noticed.
That was exactly why she had always wanted to enter the special enrollment class.
She never imagined that not long after becoming a special enrollment student, she would obtain an inheritance. Even now, it felt unreal.
She knew very well that all of this was thanks to Zora and Baldwin.
If not for their help and support in front of the two tutors, she wouldn’t even have qualified to take the special enrollment assessment. She would still be an ordinary academy student, practicing step by step, never having the chance to encounter something as extraordinary as the ancient ruins.
Hearing the emotion hidden in Reesa’s words, Zora smiled softly. "In the future, you’ll definitely be someone everyone watches."
She believed this wholeheartedly. With Reesa’s talent and diligence, her future achievements would not be small.
Reesa looked at Zora, her smile growing brighter.
"I’ll work hard!"
Soon, amid the murmurs of the crowd, the towering gates of the academy finally came into view.
"Hey! Look over there! Isn’t that Senior Raphael and the others? They’re back!"
On the martial practice grounds, several academy students were the first to spot Raphael and his group entering the gates. Excitement instantly spread across their youthful faces.
"I heard from Tutor Sebastian that they obtained the inheritance from the ancient ruins. Their strength must have increased by a huge margin. That’s really enviable!"
"The most enviable one is Reesa," another student added with a sigh. "She just entered the special enrollment class and went to the White Mountains with them. This time, she even received an inheritance. That kind of luck is almost unheard of!"
As those words fell, many people nodded in agreement. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
They had long since grown accustomed to Raphael, Alaric Von Seraph, and the others standing far above their peers. From the moment those people entered the academy, the gap between them had never truly closed.
Reesa, however, was different.
She had once been an ordinary student just like them. Seeing her now achieve such results made the envy in their hearts even sharper.
Reesa felt all those gazes and murmurs, and her face lit up with a radiant smile. This was the first time she had ever been admired so openly, and an indescribable joy spread through her chest.
Her years of hard work had not been wasted.
Amid the discussions, Zora and the others continued walking deeper into the academy. News of their return spread quickly. Before long, it was certain that the academy leadership would be informed.
When they reached the special enrollment dormitory area, a familiar group was already waiting outside.
Marcus, Tiffany, Baldwin, and Sylvandria stood together, smiling as they watched Zora and the others approach.
"You’re finally back!" Tiffany laughed loudly, his face full of excitement. "Someone’s been waiting for you so long that they practically made a hole in the ground!"
At his words, smiles bloomed on the faces of Zora and the rest. There was no need to guess who he meant.
Teased so directly, Sylvandria’s cheeks flushed slightly.
Still, when her gaze fell on Alaric Von Seraph’s tall and composed figure, the corners of her lips curved into a gentle smile she couldn’t suppress.
"Senior Brother, you’re back..."
Her voice was soft, carrying worry and longing she hadn’t been able to hide. There was even a faint tremor in her words.
Ever since they had parted at the entrance to the ruins a month ago, her heart had never truly settled.
After returning to the academy, she found it impossible to focus on alchemy or cultivation. All her thoughts revolved around Alaric Von Seraph’s safety.
More than once, she regretted leaving early. If she had stayed, even outside the ruins, she would have known what was happening.
After she returned, she had been the only one left in the special enrollment dormitory, her days filled with unease and restlessness. It wasn’t until half a month later, when Tiffany and the others told her that Alaric Von Seraph was safe and had even begun accepting an inheritance, that her heart finally eased.
Even so, as days passed and Alaric Von Seraph still hadn’t returned, worry crept back in. Only now, seeing him standing before her, did she finally feel truly at ease.
Alaric Von Seraph, however, only nodded lightly in response. His expression was calmer than ever, the coldness he once carried having softened somewhat.
And yet within those steady, composed eyes, there was no clear response to Sylvandria’s feelings. As a result, a trace of disappointment flickered across her gaze, though she quickly hid it.
Meanwhile, Tiffany had already strode over to Zora. After everything they had experienced together, the last of the distance between them had vanished completely. "Zora, I heard you stayed the longest inside the ruins that long to accept the inheritance."
Tiffany’s eyes sparkled with unabashed curiosity. She had been endlessly intrigued by that final inheritance, yet luck had never favored her this time. Watching others return transformed could not help but stir her interest.
Zora nodded lightly, a faint smile resting on her delicate features. "Yes. Once the inheritance was completed, we came straight back."
"So all of you gained an inheritance?"
Tiffany glanced between Zora and Reesa. She had heard before that ancient ruins usually chose a single inheritor. Six people receiving inheritances this time was something she had never expected.
"That’s right," Zora replied calmly. "But each of us received something different."
She understood Tiffany’s curiosity well. If their positions had been reversed, she would have been just as eager to ask.
"I see..."
