Reborn As Super Heiress-Chapter 1803 - 1706: Identity Exposed
After the nurse revealed her identity, the villagers quickly recognized Huo Sining. Each of them was instantly surprised, as none had expected a big star who could perform magic at the Spring Festival Gala to appear in Meishan and risk her safety to rescue two children in the flood.
In the villagers’ minds, a big star should be glamorous and high above, not coming to a backwater like theirs. Especially now with the earthquake turning all of Meishan into chaos, those with money, power, and connections are likely finding ways to escape, not stay in this godforsaken place.
But the star in front of them not only didn’t leave but also came with the rescue team to help. Such a down-to-earth celebrity, they really were seeing for the first time.
Huo Sining sat by the fire, shivering and drying the moisture off her hair. Apart from being slightly prettier and fairer, she looked just like every other girl from their own families.
Suddenly, the villagers felt an unprecedented sense of familiarity, realizing that TV stars are just like ordinary people.
Huo Sining, under the gaze of the villagers, didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. She invited everyone to sit and warm themselves by the fire, a smile difficult to conceal on her pale face. Initially, the villagers felt nervous, full of admiration and a sense of distance towards Huo Sining. But gradually, they gathered around her.
A villager, gathering the courage, asked Huo Sining, "Are you really the girl who performed magic at the Spring Festival Gala? We watched last year’s show, and that girl’s performance was fantastic!"
Huo Sining, hearing the words full of local flavor, felt a sense of warmth and couldn’t help but smile, "Uncle, it’s just a little trick to fool people."
Seeing that Huo Sining wasn’t as aloof as they thought, the villagers got excited and bombarded her with questions. Huo Sining didn’t show any impatience and answered everything, making the villagers very excited.
The two Hua children, after warming themselves by the fire, slowly began to recover, losing their fear and returning to their lively selves.
Seeing everyone eagerly asking Huo Sining questions, the two children’s eyes widened in focus, never looking away from her. Finally, the older child spoke, "Sister, could you perform a magic trick for us now?"
Huo Sining was taken aback, as were the villagers by the fire. But soon, they all started to laugh, looking at Huo Sining with eyes full of hope and curiosity, some even clapping, clearly expecting a performance.
Huo Sining glanced at the two kids, seeing their eyes fixed on her, their deer-like gaze still holding some of the shock and trauma of surviving.
Moved in her heart, Huo Sining’s hands moved faster than her mind. With just a flip of her hand, something appeared in her palm. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Oh, she made it appear, she made it appear!"
Seeing the sudden appearance of a loaf of bread in Huo Sining’s hand, the villagers were stunned. Then, realizing what had happened, some gasped, others praised, and some clapped, curiously studying Huo Sining from all angles, trying to figure out where the bread came from.
With a smile in her eyes, Huo Sining split the bread in half and handed it to the two Hua children, "Eat up."
The children hadn’t eaten since the earthquake yesterday and were already famished. Seeing the bread, their eyes glowed green, and they couldn’t resist grabbing it and wolfing it down.
Seeing this, Huo Sining quickly called out to Fang Zhiming, "Director Fang, could you bring my backpack over?"
Fang Zhiming nodded and handed over the travel bag Huo Sining had entrusted to him. She quickly rummaged inside and pulled out two more pieces of bread and mineral water, handing them to the children.
"Eat slowly, take a sip of water, don’t choke, no one’s rushing you!"
Seeing the children devour the food as if they hadn’t eaten in ages, the villagers around them all showed sadness, many casting longing glances towards where their homes were, now submerged. The earthquake and flood had left them uprooted and homeless.
"Don’t worry, once the flood passes, everything will get better. The country won’t leave you unattended, and many caring individuals and organizations will offer aid. You’ll soon be able to return to your normal lives; it won’t be long!"
Huo Sining reassured the villagers.
"Miss Huo is right. In such a big disaster, the country won’t ignore us. The rescue team is here, and soon aid supplies will arrive. The country will find a way to help us rebuild our homes!"
Huo Sining’s encouragement felt like a tonic, making the villagers less fearful and helpless.
Only then did a villager remember Huo Sining’s act of saving lives in the flood and couldn’t help but exclaim,
"Miss Huo, your swimming skills are amazing. In such a swift current, you weren’t affected at all. I thought I was the best swimmer in our village, but compared to you, I’m far behind."
Huo Sining didn’t show any embarrassment, "I’m only average at swimming, but I’m good at holding my breath underwater. I used to work at the maritime bureau, so I’ve had formal training, which is why I have experience in rescuing people."
Huo Sining half-truthfully explained, and those present, either unworldly villagers or laymen like Fang Zhiming, were indeed impressed by her words.
Everyone assumed Huo Sining’s life-saving skills were due to formal training at the maritime bureau and didn’t think too much of it. Soon, someone changed the topic to the Spring Festival Gala.
"Miss Huo, are you performing at the Spring Festival Gala again this year?"
Huo Sining scratched the back of her head, feeling a bit embarrassed, "Well, I only have a few tricks up my sleeve. If people see them too often, they’ll get tired of them. Besides, it’s not up to me; it depends on what the show’s directors plan. But I guess I probably won’t be performing."
Hearing that Huo Sining wouldn’t be performing at this year’s Spring Festival Gala, the villagers felt disappointed:
"You’re not? What a shame. The Gala isn’t as good as it used to be. Last year’s show didn’t have much worth watching. If you’re not in it, what’s there to look forward to?"
