Reborn As Noble-Chapter 483: Celestials and Corruption ( )
Chapter 483: Celestials and Corruption ( 483 )
In a dark, quiet chamber deep inside the palace, King Edmund sat alone. His crown was on the table beside him. The curtains were drawn. No servants were allowed.
His hands were folded. His eyes were closed.
He was listening.
“Now I feel stronger!!”
The voice echoed loudly in his mind, twisted with excitement.
“The more powerful I become… the more powerful you are, Edmund!!”
A slow, creeping smile grew on Edmund’s lips.
“Yes… I know,” he said softly.
He opened his eyes.
Cold. Focused. Inhuman.
“Devour more of them,” the Celestial whispered.
“Find the talented ones. The mages. The strongest warriors. Absorb them all. We will rise above everyone else.”
“Don’t worry,” Edmund replied calmly, voice steady.
“Every prisoner I catch… will be fed to me.”
He leaned back in his chair, hands resting on the armrests.
“Just like Duke Ibzles,” he said quietly, eyes gleaming.
“And Viscount Klimbert. Their loyal butlers. Their knights. Their so-called ‘resistance’.”
The Celestial inside him laughed.
“Yesss!! That’s it!! More!! MORE!!”
Edmund smiled darkly.
“Soon… Gumarak will fall. And after that…”
His gaze shifted to the far wall, where a large map hung.
He slowly tapped his finger on the name burned into the parchment.
“Gurdan.”
The celestial within whispered eagerly, full of hunger and excitement.
“Defeat Gumarak and devour him too! Once he’s ours, nothing can stop us! I can feel it—Gurdan already devoured the celestial power from that hero!”
Edmund’s smile grew sharper, cruel.
“But now, we have three celestial powers. You’ve made me stronger than any other vessel.”
“Yes! And soon, we’ll have four! Even Gurdan, who holds two celestials, won’t stand a chance!”
Edmund slowly stood up and walked toward the map. He traced his finger over the territories, stopping at Gumarak’s domain.
“Yeah… Their army is already reduced to less than half,” he said, satisfied.
“Your idea to weaken them with hidden attacks was brilliant.”
The celestial inside him laughed, dark and twisted.
“Of course! Soon, they’ll all kneel before us!”
Edmund chuckled softly, eyes glowing faintly.
“Yes… very soon.”
The voice inside Edmund hissed with excitement.
“Once you devour them all, you will become the strongest, Edmund! No one will be able to stop you!”
Edmund’s eyes gleamed with madness. His fists clenched.
“And I know,” the celestial’s voice continued, smooth and poisonous, “you can’t wait to defeat Garius… and devour him too.”
“Yes…” Edmund whispered, his smile twisting into something darker. “I want to defeat him. More than anyone.”
His voice dropped, low and filled with something old and bitter.
“Because once he falls… I’ll finally get what I’ve waited for.”
The celestial paused. Then chuckled.
“Oh~ that beautiful lady?”
Edmund’s teeth clenched slightly—it was a warning. Then he burst out laughing.
“Yeah. Francesca.”
His voice turned cold.
“She was supposed to be mine. Not with Garius. She was supposed to be my queen. My empress. Not his.”
He walked over to the window, looking out at the distant horizon.
“I’ll take everything from him… his power, his land…”
He smiled.
“…and his wife.”
Inside Edmund’s mind, the celestial spoke softly, curious.
“Once you’re the strongest, you could take any woman you want. No one would dare oppose you. Why chase after someone who’s already used?”
Edmund suddenly snapped, his eyes blazing with anger.
“Used? Used?! She’s not USED! Can’t you see how beautiful she is!?”
His fists clenched tighter.
“She already has three sons, and she still looks the same as when I first met her! She’s my age! But look at her! Still so perfect, still so beautiful.”
His voice lowered, full of twisted longing.
“No other woman can compare to Francesca. None.”
The celestial laughed quietly.
“Then we’ll take her too. Once Garius falls, she’ll be yours.”
Edmund nodded slowly, smiling again.
“Yeah… She’ll finally be mine.”
Halfling Kingdom, Gurdan’s Palace
King Gurdan leaned back comfortably in his chair, enjoying a fancy feast before him. Around him, his guards stood still, their faces hidden behind dark helmets.
In front of him, lined up and tied up, were the prisoners they had captured from Amazarak. They trembled, eyes wide with fear.
Inside Gurdan, the celestial whispered eagerly and sharply.
“Devour them! Devour them all!”
Gurdan grinned.
“Yes… yes! Their power, their mana, their life—I’ll take it all!”
He raised his hand wickedly. The closest prisoner started screaming as dark mana surged forward, draining their strength, pulling their very essence like smoke into Gurdan.
“NO! PLEASE!!” the prisoner begged, but Gurdan only laughed, enjoying the suffering.
The other prisoners watched in horror, trembling and crying, waiting their turn.
The celestial inside him roared happily.
“Yes! More! Give me more!”
Gurdan chuckled, his eyes glowing darkly as he reached for the next prisoner.
“Your fear makes it taste even better!”
As the screams echoed through the hall, and another prisoner was drained of life, Gurdan leaned forward and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
But the smile on his face slowly faded.
Something was bothering him.
Inside his mind, the celestial stirred again.
“You still think about him… don’t you? That man. The one you tried to devour.”
Gurdan narrowed his eyes.
“Kenjirou…”
The celestial growled.
“His celestial was easy to take. But he… he was different.”
“What do you mean? Different?” Gurdan snapped, his tone sharp and low.
“You saw it too, didn’t you?” the celestial hissed. “Even as we tried to devour him… his body resisted. No matter how much I tried to swallow his soul… something protected him.”
“Then why!?” Gurdan slammed his hand on the table. “Why did we leave him on the battlefield?! You mean he’s still alive!?”
The celestial paused.
“…He had a blessing. A power beyond our reach. The celestial was mine to take, but his body… his soul… it escaped.”
Gurdan stood, furious.
“You said he was finished! Dead!”
“He should have been!” the voice snapped. “But something… something stopped him. That body is not normal.”
Gurdan clenched his fists and started pacing.
“Ugh!! That means he could come back?!”
The celestial snorted.
“Why worry about a weakling like him? We have other celestial vessels to hunt next!”
“Who?” Gurdan growled.
“Gumarak. And the other two.”
The celestial’s voice was confident.
“They’re next. And once we take them, your power will be unmatched.”
Gurdan didn’t answer. His fingers twitched, and he stared silently at the far wall.
But deep down…
Something was starting to bug him.
