Reborn As Noble-Chapter 446: Waves of Challenge ( )
Buddy dashed ahead at full speed, his white ore talons kicking up small bursts of dust with every powerful stride.
"Whoa—Buddy!!" Javier laughed, gripping the reins with one hand as the wind rushed past him.
Cuquawked!! Buddy squawked proudly, chest puffed, wings half-flared, as if to say, "I was born for this."
Javier leaned back in the saddle slightly, letting the night breeze cool his face.
But even as they raced forward, his thoughts drifted.
Liana… Gloria…
He blinked, his gaze softening as he stared at the road ahead.
What are they doing right now...?
He hadn't spoken to them since the mission began—though the mana talkies were still within range. Something told him to let them rest.
Did their training start? With Ari and Aria...?
He chuckled lightly to himself.
"…They're probably fine."
His eyes trailed up to the dark canopy of trees above.
It's already night. They're probably asleep now…
Pause.
Wait… No. Knowing Liana, she's not sleeping. She's probably staring at the mana talkie, waiting for me to call.
And Gloria's probably logging my estimated travel path into a schedule.
He sighed with a smirk.
"Overprotective future wives, huh…?
In Armand Region.
Armand Special Training Area.
"Don't stop!! FOCUS!!"
Erinnette's voice rang out like a whipcrack, sharp enough to shake the very air.
Another wave of summoned monsters dropped from the glowing ceiling sigils with heavy thuds, screeching as they lunged forward, claws dragging across the reinforced floor.
Liana and Gloria stood side by side, sweat trailing down their faces and breath ragged. Their backs nearly touched, their stances low.
Liana's upgraded white ore bow glowed faintly in her hands, shimmering with embedded light runes. Her arrows formed instantly from her mana, thinner and sharper than steel.
Gloria gripped her massive white ore warhammer, exhaling slowly as she readjusted her stance. The weapon's head hummed with mana, and her glasses reflected the glow of the training room's summoning circle.
Erinnette stood behind them, arms crossed and radiating command like heat.
"You're both panting already? This is only the Level 2 zone!" she barked. "We haven't even gotten to Level 3 yet, let alone Level 99 or the 10 Special Zones!"
A horned, armored predator snarled in front of them, moving with jerky speed—a mock-class B creature.
Liana fired.
The mana arrow pierced straight through its skull before it finished its first step, and the creature dissolved into shimmering blue particles.
More monsters followed.
Gloria roared softly and slammed her warhammer into the ground. A shockwave of light magic blasted forward, knocking back a group of charging beasts and pulverizing two instantly.
Behind them, Hesbeirn stood quietly, arms folded, watching in silent awe.
Hesitantly, he muttered,
"…Big sis, I think that's enough for now."
"Huh?" Erinnette turned her head slightly.
"What did you just say?"
"N-nothing, Big Sis!!"
She smirked, clearly enjoying the torment.
"Right answer."
Then she slammed her gloved hand onto a control panel—an ancient device designed by Garius and Francesca. It pulsed and activated another round.
More monsters spawned—this time faster, leaner, and more coordinated.
"NOW BOTH OF YOU—GET UP!! MORE MONSTERS INCOMING!!"
Liana clicked her tongue softly.
"So this is what she meant by 'special training'…"
Gloria adjusted her glasses and lifted her warhammer.
"Ara… I hope Lady Francesca isn't watching this. It might encourage her."
The monsters howled and charged.
Liana's magic bow lit up again, triple-casting arrows in rapid succession.
Gloria spun her hammer with surprising speed, slamming it into the ground to send holy shockwaves rippling across the room.
Particles flew.
"Your left!!"
SLASH!
"Ugh—your right!!"
"You—up!! They're dropping from above now!!"
Erinnette's voice cut through the air like a drill sergeant.
Liana and Gloria barely kept pace, panting as they blocked, dodged, fired, and slammed their upgraded weapons through wave after wave of monsters.
Liana fired another volley of arrows, but her arm trembled slightly. Her mana was stable, but her stamina? Not so much.
Gloria spun her warhammer and smashed a charging beast into the wall, but even she was breathing hard now, sweat glistening along her temple.
"Mrs. Erinnette…" Gloria called out between breaths.
"This is… super hard," Liana added, her bow low and chest heaving.
Erinnette blinked slowly.
"…Hard?"
Her voice turned dangerously quiet.
"HARD?"
She casually reached behind her back and pulled out her dual curved blades—their edges faintly glowing with silver mana, humming with quiet, terrifying intent.
The atmosphere shifted.
Before either Liana or Gloria could react—
Erinnette vanished.
Not a blink. Not a blur. Just—gone.
In less than three seconds, the entire wave of monsters—all thirty of them, from the ground and ceiling—were obliterated. Gone. Not even particles remained. Just… silence.
Erinnette reappeared behind them, her dual blades lowered casually at her sides.
Her gaze was calm, head slightly tilted, and a mildly sarcastic smile on her face.
"Which part… was hard, again?"
Liana and Gloria stood frozen.
Even Hesbeirn blinked slowly and mouthed a quiet, "…Scary…"
Erinnette sheathed her blades with a soft click.
"Now then," she said cheerfully, "since you're rested up thanks to my help…"

She walked back to the control panel.
Tap.
"Next wave: Level 3. Let's see if your body can keep up."
Liana's expression broke.
"...I want to go back to chasing bandits in the woods…"
Gloria adjusted her glasses with a flat stare.
"Ara. I should have stayed in the library…"
The monsters spawned again.
The screams began again.
Erinnette stood at the edge of the summoning platform, arms folded as the next wave of monsters began to materialize—claws, teeth, and twisted mana flaring to life.
Her voice rang out, loud and crystal clear.
"If either of you loses in this Level 3 wave…"
Liana and Gloria looked up, still panting, faces flushed with exhaustion, but they froze instantly.
Because in Erinnette's hand—raised high—were two familiar, glowing devices.
The mana talkies.
Their mana talkies.
Both stared in horror.
"No…" Liana muttered under her breath, eyes wide.
"Ara… that's not funny…" Gloria whispered, her voice suddenly dry.
Erinnette smiled sweetly.
"I will crush these."
Her fingers flexed slightly, testing the tension in the devices.
"Which means—no more calls, no more sweet nightly updates, no more hearing his voice."
The monster wave roared to life behind them.
"No more contact with your 'future husband.'"
A gust of wind blew through the chamber, making it feel like the world had gone cold.
Liana's eyes sharpened instantly, mana flaring at her fingertips. Her magic bow sparked to life, forming arrows rapidly.
Gloria exhaled slowly, her warhammer rising with renewed steadiness.
They weren't tired anymore.
"Oh… you're evil," Gloria said flatly.
Liana's voice dropped an octave. "Nobody… cuts off my line to Javier."
Behind them, Hesbeirn stared with a blank face.
"…How is that more terrifying than the monsters?"
Erinnette whistled innocently and pocketed the mana talkies back into her pouch.
"Then don't lose."
