Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 83: Ch : Going out for Resources - Part 1
The tense atmosphere finally calmed down, and a system was established. Every few hours, a person from the refugees would partner with someone from the other side, and they would check up on the borders.
It was mainly done because Seraphina and Emperor were suspicious of the refugees and did not want them going out alone.
No one said much, but the air between them just got worse. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
The first group to take up patrolling was Emperor and the unofficial leader. They looked ready to kill each other, and the air eased up once they finally left.
"I don’t trust that guy who went with Emperor. He has been trying to pick a fight with us ever since he came here. Are you sure he’s not an imposter?"
Seraphina asked as she drank from her bottle. They were running low on supplies as well, and soon, they would have to go out and forage for more.
Especially water, which was a limited resource, and Andrew did not have access to his inventory.
When the system had told them that it was going to restrict the inventory, it really meant that. At this point, what was even the use of the inventory?
"Andrew, my answer?"
Seraphina asked, and Andrew quickly dragged himself back into the conversation.
"Well, the man is definitely a player. I am sure of this. However, whether he is playing a role, or if he is genuinely this stupid and hell-bent on screwing us over, that remains to be seen. But one thing is clear-we need to keep an eye on him."
Andrew agreed with Seraphina. Even he had his doubts about the system’s classification, but the system wouldn’t lie about something like this.
"If you are sure. Just let me know if you want me to do something about him. I will make it a quick and easy death for him."
Seraphina assured him, and Andrew had no doubt that she would do a good job.
But for now, it was not important at the moment. What was important was to focus on the game.
"We will run out of food and supplies by tomorrow afternoon. We will need to form a small team to head out and look for food and other stuff. I will take Clara out tomorrow and look for supplies."
Andrew told Seraphina, and she nodded.
Emperor and the unofficial leader came back with sour looks on their faces. They were clearly not getting along well, but they were also not at each other’s throats.
"It’s time for me to head out for patrol. Let’s hope we get through this game without much effort."
Seraphina told Andrew before she went down and dragged another person outside.
They were alternating patrol every few hours. So Andrew decided to go to sleep for now and only wake up when it was his turn to head out.
His partner was a timid man who kept looking around. He could not even bring himself to look at Andrew, much less speak his name.
Andrew let him be like that, and when he went back, it was Clara’s turn to go on patrol.
That was how their first night went in the game. By the time morning came, everyone had little sleep, but they were safe.
And then, the issue with food and resources was brought up, causing everyone to tense up. And clearly, the one who had the most issue was the unofficial leader.
"What do you mean we have no food left? Just what were you people doing-?"
"Huh-! Excuse me? You are the one who came into ’our’ base, and we shared ’our’ food and resources with you. So what gives you the right to speak to us like this? Tsk, no wonder your former leader and vice-leader left so quickly if this is what he has to deal with as well."
Clara was hot-headed, and sometimes... she really knew what to say and when to say it to make things hurt.
His eyes shook in anger, and he looked ready to murder Clara where she stood.
"Y-You little... bastard..."
He tried to jump her, but his own companions stopped him.
"Hey, stop-!"
"W-We are sorry. It’s just... all this tension and all..."
The excuse was understandable, and one of the refugees knocked their unofficial leader out. They looked relieved as well and turned to look at Andrew with guilty expressions.
"We are sorry we took our fear and frustration out on you. We just... were very reliant on our leader, and when he left, it caused us to fall apart. But we have gathered ourselves now, and we are ready to pull our own weight."
The new female sounded determined, and Andrew just nodded at her.
"Alright. I will be going out to gather supplies with Clara. Does someone from your side want to accompany us?"
The refugees looked at each other before the female stepped forward.
"I will come with you. I have the best chance of survival, and I have a feeling my ability can come in handy."
She told Andrew, and he immediately took a look at her information screen.

"Are you not going to ask me what my abilities are?"
She asked Andrew as he turned to walk out. He just gave her a calm look that made her feel foolish for asking such a question.
"I will trust you and not ask you what you can do unless you choose to tell me yourself. But if you try to betray me, then all deals are off."
Andrew warned her, and Angeline nodded. She had no doubt that Andrew was serious about his threat, and she vowed not to try and test him.
After all, now that their leader was gone, Andrew was her lifeline, and she was going to do her best to cling to him.
Unfortunately, her resolve did not last as long as she hoped it would.
