Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 72: Ch : The Objective
[All the important roles have been allocated. Please start the story by giving a divine message to your followers.]
Andrew was lucky because he had the system to guide him on what to do. It gave him the general demands of what he was supposed to do in order to follow this game.
He quickly followed the given orders and opened his skill window.
But the real question was- which skill was he supposed to use here?
"Let’s go with Omniscence first."
Andrew selected the skill and another window popped up.
[Omniscence allows the user to know the location of all characters on the map and their abilities, roles, and levels. Would the user like to view a player profile.]
"Alright, this is clearly not what I was looking for. Let’s try again."
Andrew told himself as he selected Guidance next.
[Please select a person or organization to give guidance to.]
A list of organizations appeared on the screen, making it confusing as to which one he should choose first.
But based on what he knew of stories like these, there was only one right answer.
"Let’s go with the temple as my first option. They are usually the authority on anything that has to do with the gods and such."
Andrew selected the temple and a screen appeared in front of him. It showed him a scene of the temple’s main hall where people were praying to a statue that looked... suspiciously like him.
[Connection established. You have connected with the god’s statue in the divine temple. You have two minutes to deliver your message.]
[Skill cooldown: 10 days]
"Tsk, do I only have this one chance? I better make good use of it."
Andrew reminded himself as the countdown started. On the screen, everyone looked startled as the statue they had been praying to suddenly started to glow and speak.
"I have an important quest for you all. Choose four heroes, the banished emperor, the undefeated champion of the arena-Richard Dominus, the hero chosen by the world-Seraphina, and the saintess Lilianna, and head out on a journey to vanquish evil and restore peace in this world-"
The sentence got cut off as the timer went to zero. Andrew felt a stab of irritation as he was made to stop speaking.
But he knew he could not do anything. He was stuck as a god, unable to do anything to progress, and had to depend on the players in front of him for any progress.
"Did you hear-?"
"A prophecy-?"
"The god has spoken to us. We should respect it."
People began to gossip, and soon the high priest took charge of the situation as he smacked his staff on the ground and looked at the believers.
"Our god has given us direction on what we should do. Our job now is to make sure his will is carried out as he intended it to be carried out. Saintess Lilianna, will you undertake this job and unite the needed warriors?"
Lilianna stepped forward in her saintess garbs, and the dress threatened to swallow her whole. She seemed to be struggling at the moment, but her eyes looked determined.
"I am ready. I will make sure to make god proud."
She told everyone before she took off on her journey.
Andrew watched the screen, but it was boring following the daily lives of people. He was not one to sit around, and the empty space gave him nothing to do but sit there and wait for something to happen.
"Ugh, this is so annoying. I want to move my body and make sure it does not rot due to inactivity."
Andrew complained as he rolled his shoulders and decided to exercise in the confined space. But he got bored of that pretty quickly as well.
"Maybe I should look around this place. This darkness cannot be all that this place contains. Besides, what is this place?"
Andrew had been distracted by the system and his role in the story to explore the space he was in, but now he felt curious to check it out. He had never been in such a place before.
So he started to walk while also keeping an eye on the map and what was going on in the game in front of him.
All four chosen heroes had finally met and started their journey. Andrew knew that they wouldn’t really need his help for anything from here, so he could focus on the area around him.
"Does this darkness never end? Just how long will I have to walk?"
He asked, but he did not get an answer. His feet kept moving, not allowing him a moment of rest. And just when it felt like he would never hit an end to this darkness around him, he finally felt it.
His hand landed against something hard that stopped his way. He tried using force, but the wall did not give under his hand.
When he pulled up his system to look around, all he saw was darkness and nothing solid.
"Is this a barrier to keep me inside here? What is on the other side of this thing-"
Andrew’s question was cut in half as a claw smacked against the barrier he was standing against. He could barely make out something in the shadows of the darkness that was trying to get to him.
"What is that...?"
He asked as he tried to use his system skills, only to see that he had none of his regular skills available at the moment.
"What about Omniscience? Surely that can see-"
[Your skill cannot be used on a person or object outside of the game. Please pay attention to the ongoing game for a smooth experience.]
The system warned Andrew not to poke his nose around where he was not needed. But Andrew felt curious to know more, and that curiosity was not something that was going to go away by waving his hand around.
The claw came back to try and grab him, but the barrier stopped it again. Andrew reached out to see the claw more carefully, but just as he did, the game screen caught his eyes. The party had already reached the dragon’s lair so easily that the game felt unfair.
