"We got one of the relics, we need to get two more before we can head back. Do you think Lilianna and Emperor are making quick progress as well?"

Clara asked to fill up the awkward silence that had fallen around that group.

Both Andrew and Seraphina were not people who said a lot of words, and that made them bad company for someone like Clara to be with. But that did not deter her from trying to lighten the mood.

"I trust Emperor’s skills. He will find a way to make use of Lilianna’s skills and bring back what he needs to."

Andrew had no doubt in his voice, and his confidence caused Clara to let out a mocking gasp. Before she could say anymore, Seraphina and Andrew paused.

"We are here. This is the second dungeon where a relic should be. But it is much more heavily guarded compared to the first one."

Seraphina observed, her sharp eyes picking up details even from quite a far distance.

"Hmm, really? Let me see as well-!"

Clara tried to take a look as well, but when she failed, she used her abilities, only to immediately be pulled back by Andrew before she could get her head blown off.

"W-What happened-?"

Clara questioned as she noticed a huge crater replacing the place she had been standing not even seconds ago. Her heart skipped a beat as she looked at the mess.

"The defence system kicked in and attacked you. Just...be careful with how and when you use your abilities."

Seraphina warned as she remained alert for a follow-up attack. But no one came after them for a while, which helped her relax.

"I...sorry. I guess I should have been more careful while using my powers. But if we cannot use our powers, then what do we do?"

Clara asked as she looked at the enemy camp. Her poor stats did not allow her to see much, but she could still make out that there were a lot of people there.

"For now, our best course of action would be to split up. One party would need to distract the guards while the other one goes around and disables the traps. I’ll volunteer to be the tribute for distracting these guards."

Seraphina raised her head, but Andrew immediately shot her down.

"No, I should be the tribute to distract the guards. You are much faster than me, so you will be able to disable traps faster. Besides, if anything were to happen, I can always cast a barrier around me."

Andrew reminded the pair, and at first, Seraphina looked like she wanted to fight him. But considering the situation they were in and what she knew of Andrew, she knew that it was a useless endeavor.

If he had already made up his mind about it, then what was there even to change?

"Alright, I will leave it up to you. Just...make sure to keep yourself safe."

Seraphina spoke softly, but she already knew that it was a useless wish. Andrew was far too reckless to follow her words properly.

"I will keep myself safe. No one is more worried about my life than I am."

’Tsk, what a liar. I can count more than 10 times where you decided to throw your life away for the greater purpose of winning a game. You just have devil’s luck that allows you not to die.’

Seraphina wanted to complain like this, but in the end, she just let out a strained smile and turned around to leave.

Clara looked between the two before she decided to follow Seraphina’s lead and help her out.

Andrew watched them leave for a few seconds before he turned around and threw a barrier around him.

"Alright, it’s time to have some fun."

Excitement coursed through Andrew’s body as he quickly rushed toward the second temple. He was quickly noticed by the defence system as well as the enemies. They all immediately made him the focus of their attack.

Fortunately, his buffs helped him a lot and his shield held.

"Hurry up and attack the intruder. Do not let him get close to the temple, or we will all die-!"

Andrew knocked out the one commanding these people using a small spell, but the others continued to fire at him.

Even the defence skills made him their target, causing Andrew to focus on defence.

He saw two shadows moving around from the corner of his eyes, and he sighed in relief before he was forced to confront the familiars attacking him.

"Make sure to push him back. We are the last line of defence against the enemy..."

Another person tried to boost the morale of the people around him, and it worked. The workers who looked exhausted seconds ago suddenly looked rejuvenated and came after Andrew.

He bit his lip as his barrier was bombarded with a lot of attacks. But he only had to endure for a minute or so before the bombardment died down.

"What happened-! Why did our weapons stop firing? What the-"

The leader yelled in surprise and turned around to look at who it could have been. But his head was immediately smacked by a powerful fist.

Clara stood over the collapsed body and stretched her back.

"Ugh, finally, some peace and quiet. His voice was beginning to get on my nerves quite badly."

She complained, and everyone else looked shocked to see her.

"Y-You knocked out the captain... Oh no-! W-What about the guardian...? What should we do?"

"We are all going to die-"

The guards looked scared at what was going to happen next because their last line of defence was gone.

"Tsk, stop being so scared. Just how horrifying is this creature that you have to be like this in front of us...?"

Clara asked before she felt a shadow blocking the light around her. Her instincts told her that she was in danger, and she turned around in time for a claw to crash against a barrier around her.

Her heart skipped a beat at how close that call had been for her.

’W-What happened-! I thought I was gone for sure...’

"Stop daydreaming around and check your position. Do you want to get crushed next?"

Seraphina reminded Clara, causing her to snap out of her daze and jump backwards to avoid the huge beast.

Her place was immediately taken by Seraphina, who attacked the startled beast, injuring it in the process as well.

The beast let out a loud roar and immediately shook Seraphina off itself.
