Chapter 118: Ch 118: Snake’s Obsession- Part 1

[Ladder Snake level 23 has appeared]

The sudden announcement made Andrew and Lilianna look in front of them. The same snake from before was back, but it looked much more cautious this time.

It also took notice of Lilianna and, instead of going after Andrew, it lunged at her.

But Lilianna was ready to defend herself, and she rolled out of the way. She dodged that attack successfully, and her self-healing healed any impact she could have felt due to her roll.

The snake pretended to have abandoned chasing her and moved toward Andrew a little, only to turn around and try to grab her again. This fast-paced action caused Liliiana to be caught off guard, and she looked at the incoming snake with a wide-eyed expression.

The snake opened its mouth, and Lilianna firmly decided to sacrifice her arm for the sake of survival. But a barrier stopped her from getting injured, and her legs suddenly felt weak.

"I-I got saved..."

She let out a relieved sigh as she turned toward Andrew on the other side. He held his hand up, and the shield shone solid.

The snake noticed that it was time to attack Andrew. Now that his shield was busy, it would be easy to take him out. But when it attacked, it collided with another shield.

"What...? Did you not think I could deploy two at the same time?"

Andrew asked, and Lilianna wasted no time in buffing him with her skills. The snake truly had no chance now.

But no matter how much Andrew attacked the snake, it refused to die. It retreated once it realized that it had no chance against Andrew currently, and the tile became silent.

Most of the players had been waiting outside the tile for it to become safe before they stepped in, and as soon as the last 10 seconds came, they decided to jump in... only to be blocked by a barrier.

"Hey, what are you doing? Drop this shield. We need to come inside as well."

They complained as they banged on the barrier. But Andrew did not drop the barrier, causing a lot of people to drop out this time as well.

[23 Players have been eliminated. Remaining players: 67]

[The Seventh round of rolling dice will start in 3...2...1...]

And another round began quickly, and Andrew reached for the dice. From here on, he would have to aggressively start knocking out players if he wanted to win. There were just too many players left.

He entered the seventh tile, only to see that blood covered the ground and dead bodies littered all over the tile.

There was only one other person alive on the tile, and he laughed maniacally as he watched Andrew enter.

"So, another foolish prey has entered this territory? That’s good. I can get rid of all my competition this way."

The man boasted as he rushed toward Andrew with his knife. Andrew did not even bother looking at the man’s stats as he blocked that attack. It was a ladder space, but he did not expect it to remain a ladder space for much longer.

[The space you are on has been forcefully turned into a snake tile. Area of the tile has been increased from 10’X10’ back to 25’X25’]

[Ladder Snake level 24 has appeared]

The snake was the same level as him, and the player who had attacked Andrew looked startled by the sudden change.

"What the-!"

He complained, only to get attacked by the snake. And unlike the previous man, Andrew had no intention of helping this time.

"Tsk, you foolish snake. Do you think you are any match for me? I will show you just how wrong you are..."

The other player rushed toward the Ladder Snake, who had no interest in him. The snake had been ignoring him all this time, but the player did not notice that detail.

He continued to attack the snake, and his knife actually broke a scale, causing the Ladder Snake’s attention to turn toward him.

"Come at me, you fool. Do you think I am afraid of you or something? I will show you who’s boss-"

The Ladder Snake took the arrogant player’s life in a single bite. The player never saw it coming... mainly because he was too arrogant to ever think that he would be on the back foot like this.

The snake turned to look at Andrew as its next target, but unfortunately, it ran out of time.

[33 Players have been eliminated. Remaining players: 34]

[The Eighth round of rolling dice will start in 3...2...1...]

[The number of overall tiles will decrease to 4]

The system was forcing people to converge now. It wanted to have a winner for this game and cause conflict as well.

By now, the other players must have realized that there was no point in playing nice, and they needed to eliminate as many players as possible if they wanted to win.

And once again, Andrew and Lilianna ended up on the same tile. But this time, Andrew decided to advise Lilianna to do the last thing she wanted to do.

"You should drop out now. Things are going to get messy from here on since we can only have one winner. If you insist on staying, then I might have to fight you."

He warned Lilianna, and she pouted.

"That’s unfair. Can’t you just let me piggyback off you and be the winner?"

She questioned in a teasing voice, and Andrew replied in kind.

"Sure, I can. But only if you are willing to face me in a true battle."

He told her, and Lilianna sighed.

"I will fortify now. My luck can only take me so far."

She decided before she dropped out. A lot of people were also weighing their chances, and Andrew also waited for the timer to tick down.

Once it was about to hit zero, he deployed his strategy.

Since there were only 4 spaces left, he quickly covered them with his shield, effectively locking people out. And since he was being buffed by Lilianna, it worked even better, and only a few people were able to make it to the next round.
