Reborn as a Tough Army Wife-Chapter 653 - 648: Will to Survive
Thinking of this, Fang Pingying’s heart was filled with a bit more hope. She looked at Yaoyao in her arms and Ruirui in Fang Xiu’s arms, reached out to wake them up, and then with a serious face, she told them,
"Yaoyao, Ruirui, when you meet Daddy later, you mustn’t be afraid. You have to call out loudly for Daddy, to help him pull through. Then Daddy will always be with you, okay?"
Yaoyao blinked, somewhat confusedly nodding her head. In her mind, she didn’t yet understand the difference between living and being dead, but the idea of Daddy being with her was something she did comprehend.
It was Ruirui, who had always been in Fang Xiu’s arms, who suddenly asked, "Mommy, will Daddy die?"
Hearing this, Yaoyao immediately followed up with questions to her brother, "What is dying?"
Fang Pingying looked at her children beside her, reached out to touch their heads, and firmly said, "Daddy will not die, he definitely won’t."
The two little ones nodded their heads in bemusement and began to nod off in the rocking car, sheltered in Fang Pingying’s embrace.
Fang Pingying watched them and sighed deeply. Although she had been holding up against all the challenges and hadn’t shown even the slightest hint of abnormality in front of others, anyone close to her knew the torment in Fang Pingying’s heart was no less significant than anyone else’s.
The Fang Xiu sitting beside her reached out to pat Fang Pingying, comforting her silently.
The car drove on further, and sitting opposite them, Luo Honglan suddenly reached out to hold Fang Pingying’s hand, speaking hesitantly, "Sister-in-law, in my big brother’s heart, the person he values most has always been you. As long as you tell him that you forgive him and won’t divorce him, he will definitely wake up."
Without waiting for Fang Pingying to speak, Luo Dashan immediately added, "Yes, Pingying, although Zhiyong doesn’t talk much, in his heart, no one is more important than you. Even after so long since you divorced, he has always regarded you as his wife."
He paused, then as if he had made a firm decision, suddenly said to Fang Pingying, "If Zhiyong can survive this ordeal, can you not divorce him? I’ll handle the family’s affairs."
Luo Dashan had never spoken with such resolve before, leaving everyone, including Fang Pingying, startled.
She didn’t know the purpose behind Luo Dashan’s words. If he had shown such determination and resolve earlier, she and Luo Zhiyong would never have ended up divorcing.
Fang Pingying glanced at Luo Dashan and the others, not saying a word.
In truth, in such a situation, matters like divorce and family affairs seemed so unimportant. Fang Pingying prayed in her heart that as long as Luo Zhiyong could live well, she was willing to do anything.
After about two hours, the car stopped in front of a military hospital.
The two young soldiers who were driving took them into the hospital where several soldiers in camo were waiting. After the young soldiers reported their arrival, the soldiers knew that Fang Pingying and the others were Luo Zhiyong’s family and came over to greet them.
Then one slightly older soldier said to Fang Pingying and the rest, "Camp Chief Luo is in the ICU. The doctor has just finished performing emergency treatment. Camp Chief Luo needs quiet, and not so many people can go in. You all should decide who Camp Chief Luo values the most to go in and cheer him up." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
As soon as the soldier finished speaking, a nurse came out of the ward and said softly, "Who is Pingying? Since being injured, Camp Chief Luo has been calling out this name. Let her go in."
The moment the nurse’s words fell, everyone immediately pushed Fang Pingying forward, indicating that she was the one.
Then, Luo Honglan took Yaoyao from Fang Pingying’s hands and nudged Fang Pingying forward, "Sister-in-law, Sister Xiu’er and I will look after Ruirui and Yaoyao. You go in and take care of my big brother."
Fang Pingying nodded, handed the two little ones over to Luo Honglan, changed into sterile clothing, and followed the nurse into the ICU.
Although Fang Pingying had been prepared that Luo Zhiyong must have been seriously injured this time, when she entered the ICU and saw Luo Zhiyong lying on the hospital bed covered in tubes without any signs of life, she still got a shock, and her heart ached fiercely.
After standing by the door for quite a while, she slowly walked towards the bed.
Having not seen him for several months, Luo Zhiyong had lost a lot of weight and his complexion was darker. Now lying on the bed, he did not at all resemble the robust and tall man he was when he was in good health.
Fang Pingying looked at him, her heartache causing tears to well up and spill over.
As Fang Pingying came in, the young nurse who had called her name outside followed her in, placing a stool behind Fang Pingying and whispered, "Since being admitted, the patient has been calling your name. I believe you are more important to him than his own life. Talk to him more, and give the patient some encouragement, instill in him the will to live."
Upon hearing this, Fang Pingying could scarcely believe her ears, "He has no will to live?"
The young nurse nodded, "According to the data, yes."
Fang Pingying’s gaze shifted to Luo Zhiyong’s face, her heart tumultuous like surging waves. What exactly was this man thinking? Had he really lost the courage to live without her?
Yet, such a Luo Zhiyong made her feel all the more heartache.
At that moment, Fang Pingying no longer cared about the Luo Family’s matters or Zhou Yunmei. She sat on the stool, took Luo Zhiyong’s hand which was hooked to the IV, and spoke simply and decisively, "Luo Zhiyong, I’ll say it in one sentence - if you can get better this time, we’ll remarry. Nothing will ever separate us again. As for family matters, if need be I’ll struggle through with you. As long as we’re together, there’s nothing we cannot endure."
"In the future, we’ll raise Ruirui and Yaoyao together. When they grow up and have their own homes, we’ll grow old together, supporting each other. I will never leave you again."
Oddly enough, as soon as Fang Pingying finished speaking, there was a ’ding’ sound from the vital signs monitor where previously only signs of illness showed. Then, cheers from the nurses were heard outside.
Although Fang Pingying hadn’t heard clearly what the nurses were saying, her instincts told her it wasn’t bad news.
Indeed, soon after, the nurse who had spoken to Fang Pingying entered the room, gave her a thumbs-up with an admiring look and said, "You must be Sister-in-law, truly impressive. We’ve been resuscitating all night with no improvement, but just a few words from you and Camp Chief Luo’s vital signs have improved significantly."
Fang Pingying was overjoyed and eagerly asked the nurse, "Does this mean he’s no longer in danger?"
"We can’t be sure yet, but as long as Camp Chief Luo has the will to live, I believe there won’t be major issues," the nurse said before leaving the ward.
