Reborn as a Tough Army Wife-Chapter 649 - 644: Planning for Divorce
Early in the morning, Fang Pingying and Li Yuchun took several kids to Li Aihua’s house.
Li Aihua hadn’t seen Yaoyao and the other little tots for quite a while, and she was overjoyed to see them at her house. She took a good while chatting with the youngsters. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Yaoyao and the others were almost 2 years old now and could speak much more fluently than before. They were also aware that there was a new, even smaller little one at home now. As soon as Yaoyao entered the house, she couldn’t wait to call out to Li Aihua, "Grandma, I want to see the baby."
Upon hearing this, Li Aihua let out a puff of laughter, caressed her little cheek, and laughed, "You yourself are a baby. What baby are you talking about looking at?"
Yaoyao stared at Li Aihua’s belly for a while, then pointed at it and said, "I mean the one who just crawled out of there."
"Alright, grandma will go pick him up for you," Li Aihua said as she walked into the interior room and carried out the newborn.
The little one was just a month old and very tiny. It was the first time Yaoyao and the others had seen such a small person, and they found it extremely fascinating. They all gathered around and stared with wide eyes.
After watching for a bit, Yaoyao suddenly remembered something and ran to where Fang Pingying was busy in the kitchen. She said with a laugh, "Mommy, we now have a little brother at home who’s even younger than us."
Fang Pingying laughed and corrected her, "Not a little brother, but a little uncle. You should call him little uncle, okay?"
Yaoyao was completely unconvinced, "Uncle? Aren’t uncles all grown-ups? How can someone so small be an uncle? He should call me sister."
"He..." Fang Pingying wasn’t sure how to handle her daughter who liked to ask questions and wouldn’t rest until she got answers, so she said indifferently, "Whatever, you can call him whatever you like."
Yaoyao heard this and immediately squinted her eyes happily, ran to Li Aihua’s side, touched the baby’s hand, and declared confidently, "Then I’ll just call him little brother."
Li Aihua couldn’t help but laugh and cry as she looked at Fang Pingying, "Pingying, what nonsense are you talking? This will mess up the family hierarchy."
Fang Pingying started laughing, saying to Li Aihua resignedly, "Who asked you to give me such a young brother? Otherwise, you explain it well to my daughter. If you can clarify it to her, I’ll take my hat off to you."
Everyone knew what Yaoyao was like, and they all laughed, "Haha."
By the time it was noon, Zhao Longsheng hadn’t returned from the military, Fang Xiu and Fang Ping’an were at work and hadn’t come back either, so Fang Pingying and the other women just casually had something to eat at home, saving the main meal for the evening.
In the middle of the afternoon, there was a knock on the door. Fang Pingying thought Fang Xiu and the others had returned and went to open the door. Upon opening it, she saw it was Juzi carrying her child inside.
Juzi’s child was a few months older than Li Aihua’s. They had also attended the child’s one-month celebration.
With one hand holding her child and the other carrying something, Juzi saw Fang Pingying and handed her the things with a smile, while also chuckling, "Here, congratulations on having a little brother who’s even younger than your son."
"Haha, we were just talking about this," said Fang Pingying as she took the things from Juzi’s hands and also took her child to hold, laughing, "Why did you come today? I thought you couldn’t make it because of the baby."
Juzi moved her lips as if she had many things to say, but in the end, she just looked at Li Aihua and smiled, "I came to see Aunt Aihua."
Li Aihua also noticed and reached out to take the child from Fang Pingying’s arms, smiling, "Here, give me the baby, I’ll hold him with you. You two sisters go have a chat, it’s been a while, I guess."
Fang Pingying and Juzi went to the kitchen. Fang Pingying was busy cooking while Juzi watched. After a moment of silence, Juzi suddenly blurted out, "Hey, Pingying, I really envy you."
Fang Pingying heard her tone seemed somewhat unhappy and asked, "What’s wrong, is the baby difficult to take care of or what?"
Juzi shook her head, "The baby is fine, it’s just that my mother-in-law is too difficult to deal with."
Fang Pingying fell silent for a moment, then tentatively asked, "Is it because you had a daughter?"
Juzi sighed and nodded, "Yeah, when the old lady found out I’d had a girl, she nearly wailed in the hospital. Thankfully, my family was there to take care of me. Otherwise, if Huang Lin had been the only person bustling around the hospital, she would have preferred I died in there and then found another daughter-in-law to bear her a grandson."
"Once we got home, she did take care of me during my postpartum period for a few days, probably because she saw my mom around often and didn’t dare to show too much of a sour face. Now, everything has gone back to the way it was, and she’s starting to make trouble."
"Make trouble? What kind of trouble?" Fang Pingying was puzzled—the baby was already born, what other trouble could that old lady cause?
Juzi shook her head wearily, "Who knows with her, she spends all day sighing and lamenting to her son about how their family line has been broken and such."
Pausing, Juzi guessed, "I think she wants Huang Lin to divorce me and remarry someone who can bear her a grandson."
"Is the old lady too fixated, is there such a big difference between a grandson and a granddaughter?" Fang Pingying shook her head and asked Juzi, "What does your Huang Lin say?"
When it came to Huang Lin, Juzi’s expression brightened a bit, "Actually, Huang Lin is quite fond of our daughter. Whenever he gets off work early at the military base, he would ride his bike back to see the kid, and once he’s home, he would hug and kiss her constantly. It’s just that he can’t withstand his mom nagging in his ear."
"If that’s really the case, have a good talk with your Huang Lin, or else just live separately from your mother-in-law." In this life, Fang Pingying had a son and had not experienced this issue, but in her past life, she had, and she knew that some people can be very obsessed with having a grandson. If things keep going this way in Juzi’s family, who knows when Juzi and Huang Lin might end up getting separated.
Juzi said, "I’ve mentioned it, but Huang Lin doesn’t agree. He says his mom can help look after the child at home, and besides, we’ve now bought a house in the city. Not letting his mom live with us wouldn’t seem right."
"So..." Fang Pingying was a bit worried. This was like walking into a dead end with no way out; this and that won’t work, leaving the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law to fight under one roof day in and day out.
In the end, it’s actually the hardest on the son.
And, eventually, when a man can’t stand it anymore, he will often choose to divorce his wife.
There’s a saying that goes, "You only have one biological mother, she gave birth to you and raised you; you can’t replace her, but a wife can be replaced."
But before Fang Pingying could even start to worry, Juzi already had thoughts of divorce. She looked at Fang Pingying and said, "Pingying, actually, I’ve been thinking these past few days, if this dead knot with my mother-in-law can’t be untied, I might as well do like you and get a divorce. After the divorce, I could leave the child with my mother, and I would follow you in pursuing a career. Look at how well you’re doing now."
