Chapter 812: Chapter 812 Coming to Entrust an Orphan

Lu Yichen had dropped the person off at home before he turned around and head back to the Gu family’s residence. That morning, his younger aunt had called, saying there was a letter for him at home.

Upon arriving home, he saw Stone practicing boxing in the courtyard, his face filled with satisfaction.

After entering the house, he took off his hat and hung it up, "I’m back."

Gu Qianru looked up and smiled, "Have the measurements been taken care of over there?"

While taking off his military coat, Lu Yichen replied, "Yes, they’ve been done. We can directly send the furniture over when it’s time."

Gu Qianru nodded, "Alright, we’ve prepared everything on this side. Have you had your meal?"

"Yes, Qiaoqiao made it at the family’s quarters, and it was a good chance to try out the stove."

"Did you leave space for a gas stove there?"

"I did. Qiaoqiao had the workers make a honeycomb briquette stove, and we left space for a gas stove as well. I’ll buy a set in the next few days when I have the time."

Gu Qianru stood up and pulled out a letter from beneath the coffee table, "It was delivered first thing this morning."

Upon seeing the address on the envelope, Lu Yichen frowned instantly, tore open the envelope, and quickly read through the letter inside, his expression darkening.

Gu Qianru felt that something was off with his emotions. She looked up and saw fury in Lu Yichen’s eyes. The letter was from the wife of his late comrade Bo Congjun, who had pushed him out of harm’s way during a mission, likely saving his life.

They had been separated due to the mission requirements, and by the time he learned of Bo Congjun’s sacrifice, he had woken up in the hospital days later. He had visited the Bo Family only once since then.

Back then, Bo Congjun’s wife was not only taking care of their three-year-old son but was also six months pregnant. He had secretly left a sum of money for her, hoping it would help her and their children.

After all, the Bo Family didn’t split their wealth, and with many family members, it was uncertain if any issues would arise over time.

When leaving, he had left the Gu family’s address with Bo Congjun’s wife, asking them to write if there was anything, but he never expected to receive a letter entrusting him with the child’s care.

The letter briefly described the difficult situation she and her son faced in the Bo Family over the years. The child in her womb had not survived due to being pushed down by Bo Congjun’s sister-in-law, and after suffering a miscarriage, she never properly regained her health.

As a result, she and her son were even less welcome in the Bo Family. She wrote this letter out of fear that she wouldn’t make it much longer and concern for her son’s ability to survive in that household without her.

Lu Yichen stared intensely at the letter, took three steps to the telephone, and dialed a number, instructing the person on the other end to urgently investigate the Bo Family’s situation.

He had numerous tasks to handle over the next few days and couldn’t deal with them all immediately. Therefore, he wanted to know his enemies well before taking action personally. He had no time or desire to entangle himself with the Bo Family unnecessarily.

Once he had calmed down, he thought about Bo Congjun’s kindness towards him. Since the only son was unwelcome amongst the Bo Family, he definitely intended to bring him back. However, he wondered how to discuss this with Luo Qiao and whether she would be upset.

Touching his face, he thought it best to discuss it when they met tomorrow. No matter what, he was determined to persuade Qiaoqiao and trusted that she would understand his decision.

Old Master Gu came out of the study and saw his grandson sitting there with a deeply furrowed brow. He walked over and sat down on the couch opposite him, noticing the letter in his hand, "Who wrote that?"

Lu Yichen handed the letter to his grandfather, "It’s from the wife of my former comrade, Bo Congjun."

After reading the letter, Old Master Gu said, "These people from the Bo Family are nothing but beasts. Even tigers do not devour their young. Could any blood-relative do such a thing? They spend Bo Congjun’s pension yet treat his orphaned child like this."

Lu Yichen’s expression turned icy, "Grandfather, I have already sent someone to investigate. Once I’ve handled my current affairs in the next few days, I will go there myself. I don’t trust others with the child. If the child agrees, I would like to bring him back to the Capital."

Old Master Gu nodded, "You handle it. It’s just a matter of adding another pair of chopsticks. However, you should discuss this with Qiaoqiao first to avoid affecting your relationship."
