Reborn as a Landlord-Chapter 1554 - 790: Compromise
Old Master Lian’s face was flushed red, veins bulging on his forehead, his eyes half open, his mouth crooked to one side, with saliva continuously dripping from the corner.
Lady Zhou was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly stepped forward, patting Old Master Lian’s face nervously and shaking his body while calling out, "Old man, old man!"
Lian Shouren, Lian Shouyi and others also crowded forward, calling out to Old Master Lian in unison.
"My father seems to be having the same issue as last time," said Lian Shouyi.
The "issue from last time" referred to the stroke. Looking at Old Master Lian’s current symptoms — the crooked mouth, seemingly numb body, and unclear consciousness — it was indeed very similar to the stroke last time.
"Then, quickly, call the doctor," urged Lian Shouren.
Meanwhile, Lady Zhou kept calling, trying to wake Old Master Lian, while Lian Shouren and Lian Shouyi, equally anxious, insisted on getting a doctor to see Old Master Lian.
Currently in the old residence, Old Master Lian was genuinely the backbone. If anything were to happen to him, life afterward would be nearly impossible. Not to mention, without Old Master Lian, they couldn’t demand anything from Lian Shouxin’s side. Of course, if Old Master Lian was gone, there was still Lady Zhou. But compared to Old Master Lian, she was far inferior.
Many things Old Master Lian cared about deeply, Lady Zhou didn’t pay much attention to. Also, her relationship with Lian Shouxin’s side was very tense, and her influence on them couldn’t compare to Old Master Lian’s. Moreover, Lady Zhou lacked the capability to handle relationships with Lian Shouxin’s side as well as Old Master Lian did. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Old Master Lian’s presence or absence was crucial for the old residence.
Though there were complaints and arguments in their hearts or on their lips, even causing Old Master Lian some trouble, everyone in the old residence was extraordinarily united on one matter: hoping Old Master Lian would live a long life.
Moreover, the cost of calling a doctor and buying medicine was naturally covered by Lian Shouxin’s side, leaving them without any concern.
Without much need for discussion, Si Lang was about to go out and call a doctor for Old Master Lian. However, just as Si Lang’s two feet had barely stepped over the threshold, Old Master Lian suddenly woke up slowly.
"No, don’t go," Old Master Lian’s eyes opened, and he mumbled a bit.
"You old bastard, you scared me to death," Lady Zhou said upon seeing Old Master Lian awake, her heart finally settling back in her chest.
"Dad, what are you saying?" Lian Shouren and Lian Shouyi both leaned close to Old Master Lian’s face.
Old Master Lian raised a hand and waved it.
"Don’t call the doctor," Old Master Lian said again, much clearer than before, with a higher voice and a bit of urgency in his tone.
Everyone in the room understood, and Si Lang, who had just stepped out the door, stopped.
"Help me up. I’m fine; don’t call a doctor," Old Master Lian moved a bit and said again.
Everyone got together, hastily helping Old Master Lian up, allowing him to lean against some bedding. By now, Old Master Lian’s face was less red, the veins on his forehead were less prominent, and the saliva no longer ran from the corner of his mouth, though his hands and feet seemed somewhat stiff and uncoordinated.
But Old Master Lian just sat there without much movement. Since he didn’t speak, no one paid too much mind.
"Why not call a doctor? You scared us all," Lady Zhou surprisingly spoke gently, "Just a moment ago, I thought today was going to end with you gone."
Even though Old Master Lian had now awakened, the earlier incident was indeed frightening. Lady Zhou, Lian Shouren, Lian Shouyi, and the others all felt that calling a doctor would be the safest choice.
However, Old Master Lian was very adamant, refusing to let them call for one.
"It’s nothing. Earlier, I just accidentally overexerted myself and fell awkwardly," Old Master Lian explained, "It’s a minor issue; calling a doctor would just be laughable."
Old Master Lian had things in his heart he couldn’t say out loud. He didn’t want the doctor because if the doctor came and asked the reason for his ailment, he wouldn’t know how to explain. Could he say it was because Lian Shouxin and Wu Lang didn’t agree to let Lian Shouren and Lian Jizu teach at the school, and that he fell sick out of anger?
He couldn’t say this because he knew that if he did, he wouldn’t receive any support or sympathy. Furthermore, from then on, he would be seen by the villagers as an unreasonable, foolish old man.
